The benefits of a standing desk are totally worth it. Without a doubt. using one the right way is important for your body too and that means taking regular breaks and listening to your body. Although not exactly under $500, the Sanodesk is a great option at $650. It has a large surface area (28” x 55”), great height adjustability (24.0″ to 49.2”), a minimal design, wireless charging, multiple ports, 4 height presets, and a cable management tray. I got one! I like it, but it has a few big caveats that for me at least, means if I could go back I would get something different. The worst thing is that the metal wrapping around the bottom of the desk interferes with many clamping monitor mounts. And the desk itself is thin, so I wouldn't trust a screwed connection as much. So I had to do some weird custom mounting for my monitors that was very annoying. Also, I find the motor to be pretty weak. It works... But with 2x 27" monitors plus the stand, and a few accessories, it already makes some unhappy noises sometimes when traversing up. It also started to knock on the way down sometimes. It works fine enough, but it isn't the most confidence inspiring thing. The size is what it is. It is not deep enough to truly comfortably have a monitor plus laptop plus keyboard all stacked in front of you. Whether that is a problem or not is up to you. Personally I didn't have a choice because of the room I have, but it is annoying. For me, I needed the small size and it looked on paper to be good. But... Going back, I would do everything to try to get a slightly deeper desk and then also get on with a thicker, but normal desktop. A drawer is handy, but you can just add one yourself. The metal frame of the Q8 looks nice, but it just a bit too difficult to mount monitor stands over.
I got this and I love it! Super table, super high quality build, the guy I paid to assemble it was like "where did you get this" and "you paid how much for this? damn!" Flexispot Comhar. You can customize the frame color and desktop. I love how easy to put together it is, and it has held up well for the last 5 years. https://www.flexispot.com/comhar-all-in-one-standing-desk-wooden-top-48-w?value=ew8m&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=20436317171&gbraid=0AAAAABrSKr0s164jbXyikrw9CTNqVEwjo&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIupGthPaxkAMVKhqtBh3nFB4LEAQYASABEgLYXPD_BwE
I bought two and pushed them together. One goes up and down and the other is a nicer wood desk. This is the standup desk: FLEXISPOT Comhar Electric... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08SBL81LT?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share The wood one is also white and nicer. I think it came from Crate & Barrel.
If you hate waiting for desks to adjust, Flexispot’s electric lift is chef’s kiss. Haworth’s programmability is cool, but I’d trade that for speed any day.
Had Flexispot for 8 months—typing/gaming no shake! Black Friday deals make it a steal 🎉
Dude same struggle! Couldn’t find squat reviews for the Q8 either—ended up buying it ‘cause the Comhar Pro series my buddy has is solid. This one’s just fancier with the wireless charger, and it’s held up great so far.
I actually just got one last week in the UK (with discount and a coupon code for just under £400). I specifically wanted a drawer so my choices were limited and YouTube reviews seemed rather, shall we say, non neutral as you say. I’m really pleased with it (once I realised it came in two deliveries a day apart). Trivial to assemble, doesn’t wobble when I’m typing on it, a smooth operation and overall feels a step up in quality from the IKEA standing desk I had before. Being able to plug in charge cables and the wireless charger is nice but not something I’m particularly bothered about, although they do work well. I found the cable management to work well for me. There’s a metal hanger (seems different on some reviews so maybe they changed it) that my strip lead sits on and I plug in my monitor and desk lamp to that. Would recommend! But I am only one week in.
I really like it, partly because it’s brighter than I’m used to. It’s definitely a step up from the ikea one as you’d expect and it doesn’t feel cheap to me. But then again it’s not quite up there with antique oak or some of the more high end ones I looked at (but they didn’t have a drawer). For the price I paid I feel like it’s excellent value for the quality it is. Even at full price I’d have been happy with it.
One thing to note is the website claims the top is 1.9cm but it's actually 1.6cm thick. It works with the white metal surround below but is definitely not as thick as the E7 pro, for example (which is what I'd probably have gone for if I didn't need a drawer).

The one I have is 55 inches and they're pretty customizable. Several desktop types to choose from. You could even purchase the frame only and screw it into the desktop from your old desk to save money
A big feature to look for is a collision sensor — stops the desk from going up or down if it senses resistance in the moving direction Had a desk without this and i have slanted ceilings if I wasn’t paying attention I’d deff go through the ceiling with my monitor I have a flexispot pro now prob the e7 idr but I’m super satisfied with it
I have a Flexispot adjustable desk with ports like this and programmable heights and I use the ports for literally everything. Even when I’m not working it’s a great spot to charge things you don’t juice up every day - Bluetooth speakers, battery packs etc I work hybrid and I have a much more basic model of the same brand at the office. Both have been operating great for three years!
