I have a flexispot e5 base that I attached to a 78x24 IKEA desktop I already had. Paid about $150 for the e5 base on sale. I'm about 5'11'' and have 2 x 27in monitors, my laptop on a stand and various other odds and ends. I've had it for over a year and am still very happy. The desk adjusts nearly silently and has practically no wobble at my standing height and 0 wobble at sitting. There is no side to side wobble at standing height. If I bump it really hard there is some very slight front to back, but I think I notice it more because of my monitor stands and not the desk. It never feels unstable. I've only had it for a year, so I can't speed to super long term longevity, but at about 1 year out I can't tell any difference between day 1 vs today when it adjusts. I've been very happy with my setup, no regrets
Yup, I love mine.
I spent weeks researching standing desks, I landed on Flexispot bc it looked reliable, and more affordable than other brands. I got the E5 (I didn’t need as much weight capacity as the newer models) The instructions were clear, and everything felt very sturdy while putting it together. Very stable and has the safety feature for preventing collisions. Hope this recommendation helps :D
(Also, they do have varying warranty periods depending on the model, 5-15yrs)
I have 2 Flexispot (E8 with a 48x30 top & E5 with a 55x28 top). Both are Flexispot’s white chipboard top and no issues so far. E8 - dual motors. Got it 3yrs ago and it still works without issue. I moved a month ago so had to disconnect it and take tie legs off. Reassembled everything, no issues. Love it. E5 - single motor. Got it a month ago and no issues so far. They don’t make the E8 anymore and since the second desk won’t be the primary desk, I went a little cheaper and got the E5. One of the things I look for when picking a desk is the position of the legs are in relation to the feet. I like them at the center of the feet (unlike the E7 Pro). Maybe it’s just me, but I feel like it reduces the shaking when the desk is raised.
To add to this, I have 2 from Flexispot and happy with both. Got an E8 3yrs ago and use it everyday and not a single issue, even disassembled the legs once during the move. 2 months all I needed a second standing desk and I was hoping to get the same model but they don’t sell it anymore so I ended up getting the E5. So far no issues with either. Even have a BenQ monitor arm on the E5 with a 27” screen and a 38” widescreen on a monitor desktop stand on the E8 and there’s very minimal shaking (at least for me) when the desk is raised to ~45 inch height. I want to say no shaking at all, but anything at that height must have some shaking but I honestly can’t remember a time where I lowered the height due to any shaking.
I have the Flexispot EQ5. The desk and the bamboo top are good value for money, I just rarely use the standing function… 🤷🏼♂️
I'd go for the Flexispot. Standing from time to time helps release the tension on my back.
I cannot speak for the CS as I did not require any, but I will say my experience has been a bit different to a lot of reviews on this sub. Here’s my extremely short experience: I ordered a E5 on Friday (5 days ago). I was originally going to get the E1 Pro but there was enough wobbly-monitor stories on reddit for me to cough up extra for the E5. I went with white frame, particle board 160cm x 80cm in Maple. The top arrived the next day, on the Saturday. Despite the clear footprint marks on the box, the top was in perfect condition. The top is a TAD more orange than I thought it was going to be. The frame arrived on the Monday, well packaged. (No footprints). I built it yesterday (Tuesday). The building part started out like any other simple ikea/flat pack adventure. A vague glance at the instructions before just YOLOing. At some point I came to a part that splits into 3 options, and I had to choose the correct section that corresponded with my desktop size. No section heading for my size desk matched, however the measurement on the 3rd diagram did match, so that cleared things up. The pre-drilled holes for the beams above the legs matched fine. The easy-mode build changed when I got to attaching the frame middle crossbeam to the desktop. No pre-drilled holes there at all. And since I chose a desktop that is super smooth and slippery, it was kinda terrifying starting each hole. I assume the partner would have been fine doing it blindfolded, but I’m stubborn and incapable of asking for help, and so this part was really shit. Connecting all the cables was easymode again. They plugged in easily and the desk magically moves up and down smoothly and quietly when I push buttons. Obv electronics suffer over time, and the buttons are 1 day old, not 1-3 years old. My desk is on the top floor of a 2 story home, and on medium pile carpet. So basically the worst case scenario when it comes to wobble. As a quick example, I have a cheap floor lamp in my study, that wobbles whenever the partner chases the cat down hallway. My (x2, 27inch on original stands) monitors wobble the same amount when on the standing desk, as they do when on the floor. If I had to hit the reset button and do it all again, I would complain slightly about the desktop colour, before getting it anyway. I would probably go with the cheaper E1 Pro option also. The E5 can withstand my partners crazy jumping dance moves without issue, so the E1 Pro with a “no jumping jacks allowed” sign on it would probably have been just fine. (Final shoutout to Flexispot AU. My partner now has FOMO but is kinda upset that the E5 does not come with a black frame option. If you have any build suggestions for his darker/Tron-vibes office, without taking too much money out of my handbag and clothing fund, I’m sure he would love to hear it)
Both. Go with the ikea setup in slide 1 and then just get the frame only from flexispot and put it underneath the karlby ikea top. That’s what I did at least
Build your own. Get a flexispot E5 and then get a butcher block counter, or just get one of their options (up to 78x30) I have a 74x40 butcher block desk with this combo. They are dual motor and have a 280lb capacity, as well as memory presets.
Xmas 2022 I spent £199.99 (after a £100 coupon) on a flexispot standing desk (single frame EQ5) and attached it to an Ikea worktop I’ve had for years. Worked great, I don’t stand it up or sit it down much but it all still works just fine
