2.5 years ago I redid my home office and spent up on nice Uplift desks. I didn't go for standing, but the 2 desks/tables I bought are solid and were worth it. I would imagine their standing models are also solid. They all use the same table/top options. If you want more than 1 desk you can mix and match a standing and non-standing and have them match perfectly. My standing desk at work is a Jarvis. It's also fine, though I rarely use it standing up ... which is why I didn't go stand-up at home. As for cable management, the frames are all magnetic. So some magnets & velcro ties have been fine. Google magnetic cable management for ideas.
Or a high quality wool rug, I got a big one from Stickley and looks brand new after 2 years. The chairs don’t roll as fast but I think it is saving the chair feet and the tile underneath.
Yikes. I bought two HM Jarvis standing desks for my husband and I 2 years ago when we finished renovating our house for $700 each, which I thought was reasonable. It’s a nice desk but a Google search says they’re now $1100 “on sale”. I’d try to find a used one at this point if I was looking but since I needed 2 matching ones I’d probably just bite the bullet and buy the HM ones. As for the desk, it’s really sturdy and goes lower than a lot of the budget models. We have the bamboo top and kid has colored and stickered it a few times but it wipes/peels right off. Super convenient to clean under, but really painful to stub your toe on the heavy foot.
Jarvis desk from Fully. They used to have a depot in Gent. It’s been acquired by Hermann Miller now? After years of experience, I would advise my past-me who was shopping for a sit-stand desk: - get the electric version with the memories. Making it easy to change heights is the most important feature. - get a smaller tabletop (or get a 4-legged table). It wobbles the bigger it gets. - the adjustable monitor arm is extremely helpful at getting the correct levels for eye and hands. - you don’t need 2 monitors. Get a wide monitor - the sit-stand chair is a great companion
Don’t ignore edge shape. A beveled or curved front edge reduces wrist pressure more than you’d think. My Jarvis with the curved cutout keeps keyboard/mouse closer and shoulders relaxed.
I also assumed that the T legs were more sturdy but just read about this yesterday. It’s actually a question of where the weight is on the top of the desk. The C legs are actually more stable, when the majority of weight on the desk is resting toward the back, which is probably fairly common. Not sure how you’d really know for sure which is best in a given situation, without trying both, though. 🤷 I have a fully Jarvis desk with what is close to the uplift C legs, and I’m pretty sure I lean on my desk often, with no complaints.
I’m 6’2” and have the 3 stage Jarvis desk (https://store.hermanmiller.com/standing-desks/jarvis-bamboo-standing-desk-rectangle/100350806.html?lang=en_US&sku=100350806) by Herman Miller (previously Fully). It gets both lower and higher than I need it to, very happy with it
Jarvis desk. We have 3, have had them for ages, they're great.
Just got a desky, honestly didn’t even know it was a thing till the day I ordered it. It came super lightly damaged due to fedex placement and box coming apart a smidge, they were super responsive, offered a replacement part or adjustment within an hour of me reaching out. I also love the product I got the Bambu and it is fantastic.
