I have an Secret Lab XL desk and it's perfect. Yes it's expensive but it's worth it. And the cable management is unmatched. It's been my favorite standing desk out of 4 that I've had.
Got a secret lab magnus XL. This desk is PREMIUM. Cable management is best in market. + no wobble + the leatherette top feels great. + motors are smooth and quiet. + extremely customizable + the magnetism is innovative and intuitive 10/10 no notes - even the guys at BTOD had to give it props. Sorry its not a herman miller.
Secret lab standing desk is amazing
Have the Magnus Pro XL and it's not that difficult to attach a monitor arm. There's quite a bit of space for most arms. I will accept that maybe some arms might not be able to fit properly but that's probably few and far between Also yes you do lose some space due to the cable management but it's such a more elegant solution than the cheap looking trays at the bottom of most other desks but as well you could get the riser and it will sit further back so you get that lost space back plus being able to attach any monitor arm
i bought a magnus about a year ago and I love it. it's kinda spendy but the build quality is great and it's rock solid. and the cable management is so good. my setup has never looked cleaner despite the fact that I have more peripherals than ever. it's not perfect though - i did have an issue w/ my original monitor arm not fitting so I had to purchase a different one which was made by VIVO. i also had a minor issue where after a power outage I was getting an error code and I couldn't adjust the height but all I had to do for the fix was unplug it for 30 seconds and plug it back in it was expensive like I said but if you spend a lot of time at your PC it's worth it. after using cheap, wobbly desks for so long it was an amazing breath of fresh air.
If you’re in asia, get from a brand called Secretlab. Totally worth it. The big win for me is the very clean cable management and the magnet system they have going.
I used a Mark Adler frame for about 4 years, paired with an Ikea tabletop, and never had a problem with it. They are cheap and, in my experience, are quite nice. I did end up donating it and upgrading to a Secretlab Magnus, but simply because I wanted less clutter (with the cable management). One thing I do have to mention is that before you actually but a standing desk or a frame for a standing desk think if you're actually going to use it, my wife wanted one for a long time and after I got her one she maybe used it 2 times a year; same in my case, I maybe use it 1-2 times a month.
I have a secret labs adjustable height desk. Ngl, wish I hadn’t bothered… it’s a quality desk but I don’t take advantage of it nearly enough to justify me owning it. Sometimes I reduce the height of the desk so I can get my feet onto it more comfortable to watch shows
If you are wanting it to be gaming-related, SecretLabs is a good choice. But if you are wanting it to look professional and clean, go with UPLIFT Desk. They make some of the best standing desks, hands down. No wobble, hold a ton of weight, and they have hardwood tops or laminate desktops. They are outstanding. I have three of them and one from Secret Labs.
Unfortunately most people won’t have tried more than one or 2 brands. My vote is for uplift. I’ve tried the Secret Lab standing desk at a friend’s place as well. While it wasn’t bad at all, I just like the look and feel of Uplift more because you choose wood laminate or actual wood. The Secret Lab table just felt like a black chunk of metal. Not a good or bad thing. Just an observation. You can get mats for it though. Full disclosure, I’m not some power user of the standing feature, I’ve only used it a hand full of times. Why I went with uplift was actually because of how LOW it could go. I started having a lot of neck and back pain and I was already showing some signs of carpal tunnel. All because I work while sitting and my main hobby is gaming as well so basically I’m sitting A LOT. Lol. I started researching into good chairs and tables along with getting obsessed with the right posture to sit and the angles based on your height and even the difference in leg and torso lengths because even at the same height people can have different length compositions for upper and lower body. Getting a desk that was well reviewed and had good quality was important but I really needed a desk that could go much lower than an average desk so I could position it in the most optimal way for me to achieve the posture I needed to maintain. Uplift checked all those boxes and now I’m here a few years later with all my pain left in the past for the lost part. I say for the most part because everyone likes to sit like a curled shrimp every once in a while and there’s no cure for that. 😂 Uplift was definitely expensive but I think it cost me like $1195 with quite a few random accessories I also added to it. This was back in 2022. Obviously the value is subjective based on your financial situation as well but this was one of the best investments I ever made for a pain free back, neck and hands. I’m sure you could get it for a little cheaper when they have sales going on but I don’t know how recent inflation and tarrifs may have affected the base cost. And again in the interest of transparency I also got the Herman Miller Arron at a good discount around that time because I used to work for a real-estate company that had a partnership with Herman Miller. Still pretty expensive but worth it for me since I spend so much time sitting. Hope this helps.
