Go for it. I think a super shoe for that race profile would be ideal, though with some technical stuff, you just need to be mindful. There are a number of good options, but find the one that works best for you. I hated the Tecton 3s, but some people love them. The first Adidas Terrex Speed Ultra did not work for me also. I used a prototype of the Ultrafly 2 and it worked out great for a non technical trail 50 miler. I would also would consider the Brooks Cascadia Elite. It's pricy though. The Prodigio Pros are a great non-plated shoe

Of course. Happy to help.  I got hooked up as a tester for the shoe way back. The 2 is a better shoe. The 1 was flat. I just picked up the Cascadia Elite but haven’t tried it yet. I think that could be a good shoe to try for you over the adidas.  Feedback so far from others is good. Try the prodigo pro too. It’s a great shoe. I also run in the Zegama, which is very cushioned. It’s a little over engineered and heavy, but I think it works well.  Honestly, pick one, go full send, and don’t overthink it. You can have a back up shoe to quiet the mind, but I don’t think you’ll need it.

Terrex agravic speed ultra for my first ultra this past weekend. Definitely one you need to be confident in though

I stopped using my altra lone peak 9s because of that extra strain on the achilles. For my shorter runs below 10km I still use them occasionally, the comfort is amazing. I never tried the mont blanc but if they’re zero drop I think they’ll end up affecting my achilles just as much.

I use the Terrex ASUs. Just make sure you replace that terrible stock insole that is so bad it litterally cuts through your arch. Speaking of arch if you have a somewhat low arch I would check elsewhere like the tecton x3. That’s what I should have done. Other than that yeah you can notice the extra running economy, more so when you push it. At lower speeds it’s obviously less noticeable. I really suggest you try them first because of the high arch.

I’m in EVO SL for road training and have been in Terrex (Adi brand) Agravic Speed and the speed ultra for a bit and they are all complimentary in terms of fit. Comfort on the trails is excellent. Also a big fan of the ON’s!

I ran 100k in original ASU. No issues, but I did a lot of my long runs in them to ensure I liked them. I’ve transitioned to the ASU 2 now and wow - such an upgrade. I absolutely feel they make me faster and more efficient. I recently demo’d the ACG Ultrafly on very steep technical trails and they beat up my Achilles. May be a different story on groomed rolling single track though.

I bought these hoping to wear them for my 63km. Aiming for 5:30-6 hours so similar pace. I think I won't wear them for a few reasons: 1.They feel great when running fast, but walking up steep ascents was absolutely brutal on my calves. 2. The inside sole is a very high arch. This has given me some blisters in spots I've not had before. 3. Now that I've run a little bit, they are maybe starting to break in? But I will be wearing them for everything up to half marathon, maybe a marathon, but I'm not risking it for the ultra. I am almost certainly going to wear the NNormal Cadi instead. They're not plated but they're so light they feel like a race shoe.

I've just run a half marathon in my Terrex Ultra and been reminded that the rods are only as good as my legs. Once my legs lose their bounce, the shoes aren't helping. I've worn them for the Fox 62k around Guildford and was happy for as long as my energy lasted, then relied on my poles to bring it in. Plates etc for as far as you can race it. Beyond whatever that is for you, I'd suggest you're better off in something more comfortable and forgiving. Your calves will thank you.

This is the obvious choice given it uses the same formulation of Lightstrike pro as the Evo SL as I understand it. OP, imo, the Terrex Speed Ultra is the fastest trail shoe out right now for smooth trails and is my weapon of choice for ultras. Like the Evo, the upper could still be better, but man it’s quick and fun.
