Nimbus 27 TR? Nimbus is generally very comfy for walking and slow runs. And these have more rubber and aggressive thread which could handle rougher terrain

I have tried ASICS Gel Nimbus TR and Hoka Challenger. ASICS is way more comfy esp on the road, but has slightly worse grip on the trails. Challenger looks much better imo, so I like using it as a travel do-it-all shoe, but for road to trail runs I’d pick the ASICS every time.

If you like the Nimbus you can gen get the TR version, which is basically a Nimbus with a different out sole designed for non technical trails. In general, for running on gravel or at the park, road shoes are fine, so don't overthink it too much ;)

I wanted to like Hokas but they were too wobbly for me. I gave them to a non-runner and he loves them. I have had good luck with ASICS Gel-Nimbus - plenty of cushioning and reasonably stable for that type of shoe.

I'm in this boat! Had PF bretty bad, mostly when running, tried Altras on long section hikes, but *started* with insoles and it was SO much worse - like, I had to get off trail worse. Since then I've only hiked in unaltered LP's and I have had zero PF in 5 years. Got some Asics Gel-Nimbus for running and PF hasn't been an issue.

Appreciate the Altra Olympus 6 rec! And I definitely plan to try any of these on, just trying to start with a long list -- haven't hiked enough in trail runners yet to know my preferences. I know that Asics trail running shoes feel great even on 20+ mile days for me, but I find that they wear out quite quickly and imagine this might be why I see them recommended less on here.
