They run small and very snug compared to the prior iteration. Had to take out the insole to get the perfect fit. go half a size for wide feet
r/trailrunning • Asics Gel Trabuco 13 experience? ->im owning them both and i really like them both soo picking a winner here for me its near impossible. asics gel trabbuco * good durability. i'm a pronator runner and i need some insole inside not to destroy my shoes in like less than 100km (on some other brands or models i ve managed to do exactly this, looking at you salomon where i ve "destroyed" midsole in less than 100km!), but here i ve did around 400km and they re still going strong. i would not go run with them like a trail marathon but for daily training they re still good. yea 400km might seem like not alot but at the same time like i ve said, im kinda big guy (190cm) who runs in-wards aka pronation and i'm destroying my shoes quickier than others, yea well instead of 2-3 pairs per year i destroy 4-5, depends on KM I'm doing. but outsole its not near end of its lifespain, sure there re sings of wearing out but i'm pretty sure it can do another 200km with ease which at least for me its expected amount of km for trail running shoe. also soo far no tearing or stiching falling apart which is good. * excellent grip on every terrain. i ve tried them on wet, dry terrain, mixed with everything and i need to say that grips is excellent * they re priecy, in my country more than cascadia. * comfy to run. for me just right amount of stifffnes and comfy inside midsole * my issue with them were only not too good ventilation if i can say soo, my feet inside were quite sweaty and rockplate for me it does not work too well, its far from the worst one but i'm kinda not totally convinced. brooks cascadia * i am long time brooks fan and although i have quite few dissapoitments with them in terms of quality (i need to send back like 2-3 shoes from them out of 10 i ve bought in my carrer) i always turn back to them. soo its slightly like i'm fan of them, simply as that. * durability is good but comparing trabucco 11 to cascaida 16 somehow less. in my 16 i ve run like around the same amount as in asics and "pronation defects" re more visible and less usable, my feet starts to hurt even on shorter trails, at the start was great, after 400-450km not soo much. i suspect its because bettwen 15 and 16 they changed midsole like alot and it was too soft, although still good. and outsole was less durable, not that grip loosen up at all if i can say soo but it starts tearing apart. soo durability at least in my case is less than in trabucco but again, i'm special kind of runner with that pronation issue in my life but hey, shoes outsole was more durable than i ve expected in shoes. * grip is excellent on 16, nothing more to say. mixed terrain with quite wet surface, like I'm quite good on the ground. * they re comfy but 16 for me was too soft, i don't like really soft midsole but i also dislike like really stiff one, it was nothing too bad, definently more stiff compared to something like salomon sense ride 5 or asics fujilite. * now i ve just bought cascadia 17 which from my obersvation they improved few things but also worsen some of them. they re more stiff in midsole which for me its good but for my likings they worsen outsole. i am not a fan of a shoes where they use multiple layers of outsole instead of just putting one layer of it if i can say soo. spaces in bettwen re not gonna clean this well from mud as other desings plus for me its more chance of something going apart compared to shoes where you have everything build togheter rather than glued if i can say soo. again its just my observation and previous experiences with shoes which does not use one-layer outsole. but i'm pretty sure that grip re gonna be excellent for sure. soo yea, in my carrer i ve tried numerous of shoes and i'm kinda stuck with heavier shoes which does support some kind of stability in foot area. and after trying like numerous of shoes (saucony perregrine, mizuno daichi, **adiddas terrex - i acctually like some models,** inov8 rocklite, etc.) i always return to one of those models. now which one to buy? for me cascadia has slight lead but jsut because in my heart re have some special spot, just like suunto sport watches, they would need really destroy "classics" for me preventing to buying them and no matter how other performs (i mean lets say garmin fenix 7 vs sunnto vertical which is like night and day compared to usability outside of training) i would just not go to argubly better brand-model if i can say soo. But in terms of performance for me i can't decide bettwen these two models soo i suggest to go to the shop, try them both and see, sometimes even some 10 steps walk around the shop can give you quite good info on what to expect. me as example i owned them both and switching bettwen them, depends on the mood but both trabucco 11 and cascadia 16 came at the end of their lifespan soo now its time for cascadia 17 and trabucco 12 or if i can find another 11 in stock in our country. good luck.
r/trailrunning • Brooks Cascadia or Asics Trabuco ->I've using mine for around 150k, so far so good. But honestly, I prefer the previous (Trabuco 11), don't know why but the 11 fits like a glove, (I’ve run 1200k on them). Still use them for recovery runs, the mesh in one of the shoes start to rip apart, the cushion is not the same anymore, but for small recovery runs that’s enough. About the Trabuco 12, 2 weeks ago have done a pretty hilly and muddy 20k Trail Run, the grip on these is insane. A lot of runners had problems with grip and a lot of falls. Only one time it fails me, but I was getting out of a small river we must follow for 1 hundred meters and on the exit the terrain is slippery. Because of constant running down (and up), with water and sand/mud inside I had an abrasion in one toe. I've started to notice on speedy down runs around 15-16k mark, in the end I have no skin on the spot. But I’ve already use them to do some runs (20k-30k) and never happened before. The cushion is very good, I have wide feet and they feel comfortable, not like the T.11 but good enough.
r/trailrunning • Experience with Asics Gel trabuco 12? ->I've got the 11's (my first trail shoe) and love running in them. Have had zero issues/blisters.
r/trailrunning • Asics Gel Trabuco 13 experience? ->I bought the Trabuco 11 last year and it's one of my daily trainers. Works for all type of runs on all type of terrain. Very versatile. The outsole grip is surreal. I would argue that ASICSGRIP is better than Vibram and that says it all. Durability is also a huge pro: I got almost 800km (500 miles) on mine and they hold up incredibly well. Fantastic quality. The only thing I'd say is that the upper runs a bit hot in summer. But maybe they have improved that with the current version (Trabuco 12).
r/trailrunning • Brooks Cascadia or Asics Trabuco ->I can only speak for the Asics Trabuco (11). Remarkable durability. They have already clocked 813 km (by Strava) and the entire shoe is intact and the sole will last at least another 500 km. Honestly, the wear is minimal. I have other shoes with different soles (La Sportiva, Adidas w/ Continental, Salomon w/Contagrip, Hoka w/ Vibram) and none of them beat the Asics' grip on wet terrain and they also roll well on dry and fast terrain. Almost as fast as the Asics Fuji Lite 4, for example. It is stable on technical terrain, comfortable and as someone mentioned, it could only be a little better ventilated. You will probably find them at a good price now that the 12 model has come out. I have no experience with the Cascadia 16/17/18, only with the Caldera 6.
r/trailrunning • Brooks Cascadia or Asics Trabuco ->For me in wet terrain with rocks, the best is Asicsgrip (6). After that, probably Vibram (tried in Hoka and Nike shoes), Contagrip in Salomon Speedcross 4 and Continental in various Adidas models. Here, some variation between them (for example, Continental in Adidas Terrex Two Flow is better than in Adidas Terrex Agravic Flow 2.0 (so a 4 for them). After those, probably the outsole by La Sportiva (in Jackal model) and various Nike outsoles (Kiger 8, Wildhorse 6, Pegasus 4 TR) in wet terrain (btw, in mid Spring to mid Autumn, Nike are pretty nice shoes here)
r/trailrunning • The best wet rock grip, Arcteryx, Adidas, Salomon, Altra, LaSportiva, Icebug, VJ ->I also ran the 25K event there last year, and will also run the 50K this year! I think the first part is quite mountainous and technical, the last part is flat and mainly tarmac or dirt roads. So, a somewhat allround shoe is a good idea. I will run it on Asics Gel-Trabuco 11 shoes.
r/Ultramarathon • Julian Alps Trail Run - 50K - shoe choice ->I got ASICS Trabuco 11 GTX for this very purpose.
r/UKhiking • Recommendations for muddy trail-runners ->Trabuco rubber is pretty good. I have the Trabuco 11. I also have LaSportiva Akasha II and it’s the best shoe I own, and I own maybe 8. It is great at everything, long hikes, scrambling, grass, dirt, roots, rocks, uphill, downhill, just everything. I’ve done 460km with them and they are really robust, still have plenty km in them. And, I think they pretty wide in the toe box area for a LaSportiva shoe.
r/trailrunning • Trail runners that also function as approach shoes ->Not on the list. But - ASICS Trabuco 11’s fit the criteria. I’ve just upgraded to 12’s because there was a sale I couldn’t miss. Put well over 1000km into my 11’s.
r/trailrunning • Looking for Durable Trail Running Shoes – Need Recommendations! ->Did you manage to find a set of shoes, OP? I'd like to add my opinion. I have had the Trabuco 11, 12 and now the 13. I would say that out of them all, the 13 is by the best in terms of comfort. So, 11's were great and comfortable but were a size too small which meant my toes kept hitting the ends of the shoe so I ended up selling them. The 12's were good but a little stiff. The grip on them was incredible however. Now to the 13's - actually won these in a competition literally a week after buying the 12's so I was able to do a side by side comparison with basically two new sets of shoes (Trabuco 12 vs 13). The 13's are by far the best in comfort out of all of them. The toe box is wider than the 12 (which was a bit narrow for my feet). The 13's sole is cushioned and flexible which made hitting the trails a breeze. They didn't need any break in period whatsoever. The first few runs the grip wasn't as good as the 12's but now they feel a lot better. Not sure why though. Honestly, if these die then I'd purchase another set of the 13's immediately.
r/trailrunning • Asics Gel Trabuco 13 experience? ->Salomon Sense Ride 3 were my first real pair of trail running shoes in 2020. After 600km they already felt really flat and the mesh was just coming apart… After that I ran with a pair of NB Hierro v6 for 900km and now a pair of Asics Trabuco 11 with currently 700km, still in very good condition. To me, the problem is from Salomon side !
r/trailrunning • Have Salomon trail running shoes declined in quality? ->I used to use Asics gortex runners, switched to Salomon. Both I've had excellent experience with running on dirt and over rock plateaus and waterways. A few runners ive met doing tough mudder really liked ice bug.
r/trailrunning • The best wet rock grip, Arcteryx, Adidas, Salomon, Altra, LaSportiva, Icebug, VJ ->Fit matters, as all the major brands produce some good trail runners. I used a Trabuco way back in the day and they were fine.
r/hiking • Trail Runners for Hiking ->I run in Brooks Glycerine on Road and Asics gel Trabuco on trails. Love the asics
r/trailrunning • Trail shoe advice for someone who loves Brooks Glycerine? ->ASICS Gel Trabuco. I love ‘em
r/trailrunning • When you only have one little river crossing on your 32k run ->I love my Gel Trabucos! Have the same colour👌
r/trailrunning • When you only have one little river crossing on your 32k run ->ASICS Trabuco Max line is legit. Dan Green wore them for Cocodona 250. Trabuco Gel is good also for slightly more technical terrain.
r/Ultramarathon • Alternatives to Hoka Speed Goats ->Damn I know I should've gone for the lite's. I wanted to try something outside of SG's and went with the gel trabuco's and they feel dead. Grip is good on mid and loose stuff though.
r/trailrunning • My thoughts on the new Hoka Speedgoat 6 ->The Gel Trabuco and Fujilite will be relatively similar to your experience in the Gel Pursue 8, with the gel trabuco being more similar as it shares the same drop. Not familiar with terra 2. Also Asics trail shoes I've had have had excellent grip.
r/AskRunningShoeGeeks • Which Asics trail runners? ->I picked up some Gel Trabucos here recently and love them. Other shoes I have been wearing are xodus ultras, mtn racers and brooks catamount. Fit wise I love them, they feel stable and enough cushion while not being clunky like my catamounts.
r/trailrunning • Asics Trail ->Asics have decent ones too, I had Trabucos for a while, they were great but the lack of protection sucks when you're a defender
r/Fieldhockey • Trail runners for hockey ->Well I guess that depends on what we call technical and individual adaptation to that technical terrain. I prefer Asics trabucos for this type of terrain, closer to the ground, more grip o wet rock and not soft. I live inside the Zegama course, for this type of terrain AP5 works great for nearly all the course. But if going more rocky high altitude terrain I prefer the Asics. Haven't tried any of the shoes you mention to compare, sorry. All in all, they are a nice shoe for putting km on.
r/trailrunning • Thoughts on Merrell Agility Peak 5 ->People are sleeping on ASICS Tribuco. I’ve bought 2 pairs and done a few ultras. The ASICS rubber is wildly grippy
r/trailrunning • Best trail running shoes ->S-tier: Asicsgrip. Tested it on mossy wet rocks by the waterfall. Beats megagrip
r/trailrunning • The best wet rock grip, Arcteryx, Adidas, Salomon, Altra, LaSportiva, Icebug, VJ ->Asicsgrip is amazing. I have a pair of old Fujilyte 2 to walk the dog and these MFs still stick to the ground as fairly new. I've done super fast series on technical terrain where at first I would've swear I was about to kill myself but nope. On the other hand I have always Found LaSportiva Akasha awesome, I guess the rest of the lineup will be similar regarding the proper sole/terrains intended. Once you've run a few miles to get rid of that "new sole coating" they move incredible. Less over wet rock/soils but very nice anyways, slipped just two or three times in a +1000kms distance span.
