I have the CTM Ultra version 2 and like them. I haven't had experience in the trail version. The version I have is pretty rigid underfoot with the plate. Nice and snappy feeling when picking up paces. If the sale price has you set on this I don't think you would be dissapointed (depending on how good a sale) but if you just want to try a Craft trail shoe I would highly recommend the Nordelite Ultra Pro. Probably the best trail shoe I have run in from them. Oh and go a half size higher than you think. I wear a street shoe size 8. Typically run in 8.5s. For all Craft shoes I run in a 9.
I have experience with the non-plated version of this model and I actually really like running in them, something in the geometry of the shoe makes it roll nicely. BUT the downside for me is the almost rock solid mid-foam that just bothers me enough to not bring them on any longer runs. I feel like this rigidness gives it good stability as well, despite the high stack. Also it doesn't have the Vibram outsole that seems to be in the plated version, and its downright dangerously slippery on wet conditions. Really curious to try some other Craft models based on my experience this far.
I’ve been running in Craft UTM ultra & Nike Zegama 2’s which I find amazingly grippy and comfortable!
