Hi there, looking for advice for a max cushion trail shoe with a nice wide fit. Currently training for Tor des Géants and looking to experiment with something that could enter my ultra shoe rotation. I ordered some MERREL MTL Adapts but the midfoot is too narrow and I had to send them back. I can't use Altras because of my Haglund's syndrome (zero drop is a huge no for my condition). Looking for suggestions on wide shoes for mountain terrain! The shoes that best fit me at the moment are -Nnormal Tomir 2.0 (raced many ultras in them but after 20hrs they feel a touch too firm) -Craft Xplor 2 (best fit ever, super wide and versatile but not ok on alpine/technical terrain -Asics Trabuco 12 (the GOAT, no longer in production. It felt perfect) -Hoka Speedgoat 6 (1.5 sizes larger). Snug in the midfoot and roomy in the front.

I've been extremely pleased with the Craft Xplor 2. The midsole foam is particularly good and the outsole works well on everything from pavement to fairly technical singletrack.

The T1 was fabulous for a couple hundred miles, then it felt like the midsole lost its mojo. They're still okay to run in and the outsole is still in great shape, but I have other shoes that feel better and retain that feeling for longer, specifically the Nike Zegama 2 and Craft Xplor 2, both of which offer a more cushioned ride. The R1 seemed fine for the time I was using it, but a foot injury led to me reevaluating my footwear selection and it didn't make the cut. The only road shoe I'm using at the moment is the Craft Pacer 2, which feels *WAY* more cushioned. I don't have any direct experience with the H1, so I can't comment there.

Not typically in conversation, but perhaps take a look at the Craft Xplor 2/Pro. Firmer (relatively), but responsive TPU. Stout and versatile outsole. Stable platform helps with +mileage form breakdown. Also, new TNF Altamesa v2 would be one of my top choices (doesn't have plastic wings from Enduris that can cause irritation).

I really enjoy the Craft Xplor. Use it on the roads all the time and the tread is great for trails. Wet or dry
