Dynafit - Ultra 100

Definitely recommend. Had two pairs of the first version of the Ultra 100 since i liked the so much. Soft, fast and surprisingly stable for the height. Havent tried the new version yet, but heard great things. Dynafit Alpine has been my go-to shoe this summer. Contrary to the other comment i find them really good on technical terrain. And i live in Norway so everything is technical. It's not the fastest feeling shoe, but a good performer. Used them in two races this summer, but wouldn't use them for an ultra.

Just goes to show how opinions can differ and shoes are highly personal. I have the Ultra 100s absolutely love them. Wore them for my first 50-miler last year and can honestly say they're one of my Top 3 shoes ever. I also had a pair of Alpines before that, and they were so narrow that I struggled majorly to get a good fit. I "retired" them after just 70 miles.

From my experience shoes that worked best on such terrain are Salomon Genesis and La Sportiva Mutant. Other La Sportiva shoes should do well because they are generally targeted for mountain running. Also, from my experience, Dynafit shoes are well suited for mountain running. I don't know if the Dynafit Ultra 100 has changed in the last couple years. I had a pair 3 years ago, they had the Pomoca outsole. Most of my shoes are pretty minimal, I love Nnormal Kjerags and Merrell Long Sky. The Dynafit felt heavy and unstable to me. I sized up 1/2 size (US), it was still very low volume for the toes. It was a pretty comfortable shoe, but too heavy and slow for smooth trails, too thick and unstable for technical trails.

I had a pair of the Ultra 100, they were cushy, and a bit on the heavy side. I don't really like cushy shoes so I didn't keep them for long. I currently have a pair of the Dynafit Alpine, they're a pretty good shoe, they have a narrow to medium fit, light cushion, good Vibram outsole, but they're not in my top tier of technical running shoes, they're not really stable enough for me on fast downhills, and they don't feel as natural running as shoes like the Nnormal Kjerags or Merrell Long Sky.

There are no trail shoes with a pronation-support system. Such system is counterproductive on an uneven trail and can cause problems and injuries. I am running Adrenaline and Glycerine GTS as my road shoes and have x-bionic, dynafit and saucony Peregrines as my trail running shoes. X-bionic and dynafit are relatively stable, I use a special insole in Peregrines (not from orthopedics)

I order new pairs of Dynafit often to try out. I’ve found their shoes to be incredibly well made but they have very little cushion. They’re also narrow, so they require sizing up by a full US size. I bought a pair of Feline SL for running in the rain and mud, but they’re so low to the ground and hard that I only use them when working in the yard.

I find Dynafit shoes to be narrow, stiff, and hard. I prefer to rotate between my La Sportiva Jackals and Hoka Torrents. I do enjoy Dynafit skis and boots though!
