Mount to Coast

Versatile road-to-trail, but struggles on wet, technical downhills.

I found success with the Hoka Mafate Three2. I used this as a primary travel shoe. And used versions of it hiking up mountains in Norway, running on the streets of Azores--etc. It was my daily driver. The only issue is that it has a small toe box. But as an "all-in-one" shoe, then this kind of does the job. I would wear a sort of brace or sleeve on your ankle to stabilize it more. you want max cushion/trail, go for the mafate three 2. bondi with rugged outsole.
I just made the switch too! I’m loving Mount to Coast shoes! Although I have multiple hoka mafates and they’ve held up really well.
Hoka is trash. My mafates blew apart after 50km and they refused to replace/refund them. Will never buy anything from them and will also steer others clear.
I’ve done plenty of races and you’re definitely going to want shoes with tight laces and deep lugs. See Salomon Speedcross and Hoka Mafate for reference. Don’t do a waterproof shoe.
