Have been using Roclite 280 shoes like ten years and cannot find new ones anymore. Did they change their name or their are completely gone? Why they do that? I chose 280 because of praise and they are excellent. What is the best alternative then?

>they’ve rapidly gone downhill In what ways? And which shoes maybe. I consider myself a devout fan of them and haven't heard anything negative. I've had nearly 10 pair of Roclite 285s over the years and across three or four generations and they seem to get better in modest ways, while still being true to what I liked about the original. I've only owned a couple other models though, so can't comment on those. Partner recently bought Parklites and likes them a lot.

I find my Inov8 Roclites have very good grip on wet rock and slippery terrain in general. Although I haven't seen them in that many outdoor shops I'm afraid. Some Go Outdoors do stock them, but it doesn't seem to be all of them.

Hello - I would say that the Prodigio Pro will feel a bit too squishy for general walking around. I walk the dogs in a pair of Salomon GTX Thundercross. They’re stable enough, comfy, and waterproof. The Ultraglide are also a good option. I’ve also had numerous Inov8 Roclite, Trailfly which are also good for hiking if you like zero drop. Hoka are also comfy if you stay clear of the racing shoes - Challenger ATR or Speedgoat. I also like the ASICS Fujilite for walking. I’d suggest avoiding the S/Lab Genesis, Tecton X3, Mafate 5, Prodigio Pro, Nike Trail Ultra, or anything with a PEBA Foam or really pronounced rocker. They will be too squishy, unstable and wobbly underfoot.

This is really useful for me! I got Inov-8 Roclites when the company was just starting up in Durham near where I lived in England at the time. Loved them and raved about them... but then when I went to replace the new Roclite shape didn't fit me at all... so I gave up on them. Reading about the Trailfly has got me all excited again that they might fit me now! "Inov-8’s new anatomical fit, which is going to be used for all their new shoes going forward and is currently used on the TrailFly, TrailFly Speed, Mudtalon and Mudtalon Speed has a much more rounded toe box than Inov-8’s previous shoes." Yes!

I've got Olympus but the lugs are still pretty shallow. I'm used to an original pair of Innov8 Roclites which are still like tractor tyres (albeit the Goretex failed and they are now glued together for dry walks). However the new Innov8 last shape I find really narrow in the mid and quite long in the toe so I sent them back. Anyone care to share thoughts on Salomon Speedcross or Thundercross as a muddy solution for Altra runners? My feet aren't super wide but I definitely prefer Altra sized toebox.

r/trailrunning • Best waterproof trail runners for wider feet that are NOT gortex? All of my gortex runners end up cracking and losing their waterproof abilities within a year of using them! I would prefer som leather runners that aren’t gortex if this is a thing. Recommendations please!!! ->

Sportshoes is usually good for a bargain. I wear Inov8 Roclites a lot and can usually grab them in old colours on there for about half price.

I’ve hiked a lot on Innov8 Roclites. They are designed for trail / fell running. Have been great for walking in Snowdonia. Handle wet mud, gravel rock. You can get them for about 90 quid. I like the aesthetic but obviously that’s totally subjective.

I started noticing this a couple years ago and planned accordingly. For me I have huge feet and it's hard to find good shoes. For those in my situation and like a low drop and low rise, look into Inov-8. I've only bought these shoes since early '23 and I hope they never change.

I’ve been wearing Inov-8s for 15+ years for trail and fell running and even moved to them for XC races when achilles injuries meant I could no longer wear spikes. Always done the job for me, reasonable value and regularly available with chunky discounts online.

Inov-8 has a bunch of models in a wide size now. Even the older models I use have a lot of room for my toes. Durability is fine I think, compared to what I read about Altras.

Love the inov8 fit and grip - hate the lack of energy return. Feel like I've got bricks on my feet after 50 miles! Looking for an alternative, gonna be trying the Topo MTN racer for my next winter shoe

I got some ino8? I don't know how to spell them. They had a good toe box and heal support and before I destroyed them, I went back to the store to find they had been upgraded. I paid a lot for the upgrade to find they were awful. But if you find one you like buy several and use them on rotation

Altras or topos....stable, but not sure they are "affordable". Agreed with others, no such thing as ankle support, but stability for sure. I had a pair of Saucony that felt great, but were ankle sprainers beyond a doubt. Running in Topos and Inov-8s now.

r/hiking • Could someone please recommend a "trail runner" shoe that is affordable and has decent ankle support? ->
