Yeah I've gone to a shop to try them on. I've worn the Salomon Sense Rides before so going for that would be a safe bet. The other two models do also appeal to me as I'm interested to try Innov8's technology, but wasn't sure how comfortable that pair is on tarmac.
Sense Ride is the most comfortable, mainly because I've worn them before. My feet aren't used to Innov8's make and its relatively lower heel drop but I'm contemplating giving it a shot - only if this model is suitable for pavement to trail running though.
I feel the 'new' range is just uninspiring and feels old fashioned. I tried the Trailfly Speed which was heavy with a dull foam. Standard Trailfly was heavier with more dull foam! They just aren't competitive with other shoes out there. La Sportiva Prodigio shows how a modern all round trail shoe should be (and it's been a massive success). It's a shameas they used to be one of my favourite shoe brands, I went through 4 pairs of the G270's loved that shoe. Numerous Roclite, Mudclaw, X-Talon. I just don't consider them as an option any more. I live in the Lake District and not many of my friends wear them either any more. Mudclaws used to be the go to. See a lot of VJ, Terrex, Nnormal, La Sportiva and Hoka now.
Just for statistics: I still really like them. After the updates to all the product lines they fit my feet even better. Luck of the draw I guess. First used the Trailtalon 235 in 2019 followed by two pairs of the Trailfly G270 V1 and a Trailfly G300Max. So I never wore the fell running models of the glory days everyone seems to miss so much. Now using Mudtalon Speed, Trailfly Speed and Max Models. They fit loose in the heel which you can counter with adjusted lacing. All of them are extremely durable with good grip. I also like the wider toe box. The look is quite dated and uninspiring though.
To me they are still making solid shoes if you like a wider toebox. I get why fell runners who look for a very precise fit are upset about this, but I like to run long distances on a variety of trails without getting my toes crammed in a baguette shaped shoe.
I love my Inov8 shoes, and think their new lineup is great. Anatomically shaped, regular and wide options, comfortable and stable, and there are models for all diff terrain (same rubber compound). They seem to be misunderstood, these days. The closest replacement for the Roclite 275 v2 is the Trailtalon Speed (6mm lugs, similar midsole stack, 6mm drop instead of 8mm). I’ve run multiple 100mi races in Trailfly Speed and Trailfly Zero **Roadfly** has a 0-2mm tread **Trailfly** has a 4mm tread **Trailtalon** has a 6mm tread **Mudtalon** has an 8mm tread Of those models, the variations are with drop and stack height following drop and stack (without the tread depth): **Zero** (i.e. Roadfly Zero) is zero drop, 18mm **Regular** (i.e. Mudtalon) is 6mm drop, 24/18mm **Speed** (i.e. Trailtalon Speed) is a 4mm drop, 17/13mm **Max** (i.e. Trailfly Max) is a 6mm drop, 30/24mm
Try out Inov8 shoes. I have great results on wet rocky terrain. I like Trailfly Speed and Zero. They’re foot shaped wide toebox. They also last 2-3x as long. Second choice would be Altra Timp.
They’re all the same shape, and the models (i.e. Trailfly Zero, Trailfly Speed, Trailfly Max) have different drop and amount of cushion. However, as far as aggressive sole, choose which line of Inov8 shoes based on the tread/terrain you plan to encounter: Roadfly = 0-2mm tread; Trailfly = 4mm tread; Trailtalon = 6mm tread; Mudtalon = 8mm tread
I’ve worn Inov8 TrailFly Speed for multiple 100mi races, and Inov8 TrailFly Zero for one so far. No complaints.

Minimal-ish: Inov8 "zero" or "speed", either Trailfly for a 4mm lug or Trailtalon for a 6mm lug. Zero have 22mm stack and Speed have 21/17mm stack I think. I have some v1 Trailfly Speed and like them although don't use them all that often.
I have trail fly v1... I like them but feel like they don't grab my heel like they could. A little bit prone to blisters on outside of my heel if I do long runs in them, but it's tricky cos they're really nice to run in, and up to that point really comfy. Weird thing is I have tried both trail fly speed and trail fly max, and both are better on my heels despite going in opposite directions from the base model. Keen to try the V2 and see if it's any better
