I really enjoy the La Spartiva Prodigio 2
Brooks cascadia elites and la sportiva prodigio pro are my 2 top picks for drainage. Both happen to have really good grip too. Speedlands are terrible for drainage and the lasportiva prodigio 2 are also pretty bad (how they get one great and one so bad is beyond me. Hoka have been somewhat alright with the models I have tried, tecton x2 being the absolute peak for drainage there.
Hi there, I run in Prodigio Pro and I would not buy them for hiking. They are too racy, meaning a bit narrow, the sole shows magic when you run faster etc. Akasha 2, Saucony Pergerine, Prodigio 2 are all better choices. I use Pergerines for the more techical hikes and Akashas for long, easier trails. Love prodigio pro for the actual running.
I think the prodigo 2 would be a lot better. Prodigo pro is quite sensitive and has some surprising flex. I bought it for an ultra but I don’t think my feet are strong enough to wear it for the distance. For hiking I think a slightly stiffer and more supportive shoe would make a big difference, especially if you need a backpack or are dealing with technical terrain.
La sportiva pordigio 2 Thank me later
What sort of trails will you be on? NB Hierros are great but the fresh foam breaks down pretty fast. I get like 200-250 miles on them until they become hiking only shoes and not runners. The new speedgoat is very stiff on top. Wasn’t a fan. Bummer because otherwise I think it’s actually pretty great/ the prodigio 2 are awesome but might be too grippy/aggresive depending on trail Mount to coast is awesome. The h1 is soooo nice but not for technical trails. The t1 is nice but smaller toe box unfortunately. I don’t like topos at all. But some ppl love them. ASICS are fine. Ultimately you have to go try a bunch on at a local running store. Or order a bunch to your house
La Sportiva Prodigio 2 is the perfect shoe for this
I have the Prodigio pro and Prodigio 2. Is this strictly hiking or natural hiking involved in steep trail running? I’ve done plenty of hiking on long mountain runs in the Pros and it’s just fine. But the Prodigio 2 will replace the pro for that function because of the increased protection underfoot. The Pro is just a hair on the soft side that the feet can get a little beat on long days in rough terrain. The Pro really shines when you’re running, it comes alive when you’re moving quick Edit: color is personal preference but I love the white/gold/blue colorway on the 2, maybe my favorite looking shoe I have
