"Distances 20KM+, I think the Prodigio Pro's good balance of comfort and grip just wins here."
"I generally do a longer run with them of around 20 miles with 6k of climbing and they’re great."
"I did run a 100km race in the full size up without touching the shoe once in the whole race."

"everything on the PP is better: the upper, the midsole, the outsole, the responsiveness, the ride, agility, bounce, propulsion, stability, etc."
"However the Pro Pro is better in both categories IMO."

"grip is perfect in alpine, mud, grass, everything I'd say."
"I just used the Pro’s for a technical mountain 100M (swiss peaks 170) and they performed very well on rock, dirt, mud, grass, flat or 35% in/declines, rain or shine."

"The prodigio pro is another Level in the Trailrunning industry regarding supershoes. ... The pro is more the Über-Shoe right now especially for alpine and rocky trails with long distance where other plated models have their issues regarding groundfeel."
"I'm taking the Prodigio Pro to a very technical 100km ultra next week, instead of the Tecton X 3 ... the absence of a plate is more of a positive for me on the trail"

"Third pair is only Telluride and seems to be holding up significantly better. ... Been running super rocky trails with miles of scree and they’re still perfect."

"I have over 400km on one pair and it looks basically new and one with 280km which looks similar."

"the midsole was toast by 100mi ... maybe because I'm a heavier runner (200lbs)"
"durability has not been great on the first two pairs. ... The issue with the first two pairs was the rubber on the sole was delaminating from the midsole . Mostly by the toe side area but also on the heal."
"The midsole is the least durable part of the shoe and has some damages because of alpine terrain."

"they don’t work with my feet-I get ankle pain in shoes that don’t have a super stable/supportive arch and heel. ... the shoes just don’t have the stout support I need"
"Oh, I do wish that there was bit more arch support."

"Order your Prodigio Pro at least a full size up. You're best off 1.5 sizes up. ... I've never seen a running shoe run so far under TTS."
"Originally got 1/2 up from norm, and they’re still a little snug. ... just need slightly larger! ... I usually wear size US 10, so I sized up to 10.5 but they’re just a little snug so I’m exchanging for the next size up. ... hopefully will save a toenail for long days haha!"
"they fit small. If you put them side by side with my 9.5 US Salomon Sense Ride 5s you’d swear they were the same size… but the La Sportivas are 10.5+ US (EU 44). Go by your EU sizing in other shoes and bump up a half size, as the US sizing is off a full size from most brands."

"They destroy the top of my left foot."
"I had that padding on the tongue absolutely kill me on both feet."

I was having ankle pain from over pronation and needed a shoe with stronger support, I ended up going back to my Sportiva Akasha’s and the pain started the let up right away. They’re a heavy shoe and may not fit your needs based on where you are but I like em! I also just got a pair of Sportiva prodigio pros that seem to be super cushiony but still supportive, but I only have 1 run on them
I found a pair in Italy when I was there a few weeks ago and they’re objectively the best shoes I’ve ever felt, however they don’t work with my feet-I get ankle pain in shoes that don’t have a super stable/supportive arch and heel. I wish I could use them but I can’t. Does anyone have any suggestions that feel like a blend between the Prodigio Pro and the Akasha? I love my Akashas, but my feet run very hot and they melt in them. A more breathable version of the Akashas with the same fit, cushion and support is what I’m trying to find! If anyone wants to buy my Prodigio Pro’s in a 45 EU worn twice for a total of maybe 10mi, let me know!
I actually have a pair of s/lab genesis and love them for running, but any supercritical foam gets wrecked on extended scrambles. Mine have 80mi on them and look like a dog chewed them up. My girlfriend’s prodigio pros are also trashed after 150-200mi of Utah technical running and scrambling. Bummer that the supercritical foams just don’t hold up to abrasion like a normal EVA does
Best shoe I’ve worn so far is the prodigio pro. They feel so good on climbs. Can’t even explain it
Norda 005 is very light weight and comfortable. They are expensive though. La Sportiva Prodigio Pro is comfortable, handles technical terrain well and on the lighter end.
Just did a 30km out of the box with them on a real mix of terrain and they're amazing. They've somehow created my perfect trail shoe, absolutely incredible to run in. LS are a half size up for me (from Salmon, Inov8, Hoka etc) by the way but see you ordered them already.
Long reply here but I understand this quite niche problem all too well. I have a bunion in the same place on left foot but actually have skinny midfoot so always struggle to get a lockdown in 'wide' shoes. The Inov8 Trailfly and their new range works well here. I'd actually go for the standard fit over wide as the toe box is already foot shaped. The width I think is in the midfoot. For example, I have a pair of precision fit Mudtalons and get a super snug midfoot lockdown but the toebox still lets my foot spread. The problem you actually have is that a lot of 'wide toe box' shoes still carry that super straight line on the inside of the foot which obviously doesn't work. Even the Prodigio Pro mentioned is quite accommodating but suffers from this to a degree as the bunion pushes the mesh out and can become uncomfortable by forcing your foot or all toes away to the side. Salomon shoes are quite bad for this, even though I suck it up and wear them as the midfoot just suits my feet. The Trailfy is the comfiest shoe I've worn in years, and I've even cleaned mine up and now wear them for walking around daily and the gym. They do a Trailtalon too if you need more softground grip, plus a road shoe. Edit to add: if anything like me, mine is just on the one foot so if I buy wide shoes, the other is super sloppy. This is why a better shape toe box works better than a wide fitting shoe in my opinion.
Same here, I tried the Prodigio Pro and they felt wider than the Kjerag 1. Couldn’t try the Kjerag 2 in my size. Never had any issues with the Matrix upper, but I’m not sure what material La Sportiva uses.
Shoes fit everyone differently so don’t know if there’s a best, but I have been loving my La Sportiva Prodigio Pros. Well cushioned, great grip, and love the sock-like upper
495 miles? Mine are at just over 200 and look like that and the midsole is packing out already… I’m in socal where trails aren’t that technical. Love the shoe but the durability doesn’t seem great on my pair :(
I daily the Evo SL for road work and have been blown away by the La Sportiva Prodigio Pros for my trail running - they excel across the board and can cover all sorts of distances and terrains. I highly recommend IF you can swing the price - if not there’s plenty of other great options for much less. Also recommend sizing up one full size. Good luck!
Prodigio Pro and size up a whole size
Should mention I also wear a 10.5 in the Evo SL so the 45’s should probably work. Some people are between 44.5 and 45 but I’d probably recommend sizing up since you’re looking for additional volume. They are soo good. Expensive, but worth every penny imho and I plan on stocking up if I find any deals. Happy trails!
Prodigio pros for the win
The ogs were soooo good and grippy and fast but the pros def for like 50 mile and up are sooo light fast and responsive… def the best released shoes for a few years imo
Had them both, ended up with the La Sportiva. VJ ultra 3 has slightly higher stack and a roomier toe box (but still a nicely snug mid foot and heel). While being lower stack, the Prodigio Pro has a slightly peppier feel I the foam. Both have VERY good grip, with a slight edge to the VJ. Both are better than Vibram Megagrip, and both are surprisingly durable. The reason why I sold my VJ Ultra 3s was the rough upper digging into the sides of my ankle. This is supposed to get better with time but for me it was simply too painful. Should be obvious on a first fitting though. Apparently the next version will redesign that part of the upper, but who knows when that will be released.
I went up a size and a half! The best trail shoe I've ever worn. The laces bite so avoid over tightening them, my toes got numb after a long downhill, and the build quality looks meh after a 100 miles.
