I was having ankle pain from over pronation and needed a shoe with stronger support, I ended up going back to my Sportiva Akasha’s and the pain started the let up right away. They’re a heavy shoe and may not fit your needs based on where you are but I like em! I also just got a pair of Sportiva prodigio pros that seem to be super cushiony but still supportive, but I only have 1 run on them
I found a pair in Italy when I was there a few weeks ago and they’re objectively the best shoes I’ve ever felt, however they don’t work with my feet-I get ankle pain in shoes that don’t have a super stable/supportive arch and heel. I wish I could use them but I can’t. Does anyone have any suggestions that feel like a blend between the Prodigio Pro and the Akasha? I love my Akashas, but my feet run very hot and they melt in them. A more breathable version of the Akashas with the same fit, cushion and support is what I’m trying to find! If anyone wants to buy my Prodigio Pro’s in a 45 EU worn twice for a total of maybe 10mi, let me know!
I actually have a pair of s/lab genesis and love them for running, but any supercritical foam gets wrecked on extended scrambles. Mine have 80mi on them and look like a dog chewed them up. My girlfriend’s prodigio pros are also trashed after 150-200mi of Utah technical running and scrambling. Bummer that the supercritical foams just don’t hold up to abrasion like a normal EVA does
Best shoe I’ve worn so far is the prodigio pro. They feel so good on climbs. Can’t even explain it
Norda 005 is very light weight and comfortable. They are expensive though. La Sportiva Prodigio Pro is comfortable, handles technical terrain well and on the lighter end.
On my third pair of Deviate Nitro 2s, used exclusively for trail. (Should probably upgrade to the 3s or 4s - however there is just something about the 2s for me). Granted I'm not doing anything overly technical, but the Deviates are my favourite 'all rounders' to use on the trail, including among dedicated trail shoes. Haven't ever doubted the puma grip. For reference - I use Tectons for races, and Prodigio Pros for anything more technical. Deviates are just an elite all around shoe.
Long reply here but I understand this quite niche problem all too well. I have a bunion in the same place on left foot but actually have skinny midfoot so always struggle to get a lockdown in 'wide' shoes. The Inov8 Trailfly and their new range works well here. I'd actually go for the standard fit over wide as the toe box is already foot shaped. The width I think is in the midfoot. For example, I have a pair of precision fit Mudtalons and get a super snug midfoot lockdown but the toebox still lets my foot spread. The problem you actually have is that a lot of 'wide toe box' shoes still carry that super straight line on the inside of the foot which obviously doesn't work. Even the Prodigio Pro mentioned is quite accommodating but suffers from this to a degree as the bunion pushes the mesh out and can become uncomfortable by forcing your foot or all toes away to the side. Salomon shoes are quite bad for this, even though I suck it up and wear them as the midfoot just suits my feet. The Trailfy is the comfiest shoe I've worn in years, and I've even cleaned mine up and now wear them for walking around daily and the gym. They do a Trailtalon too if you need more softground grip, plus a road shoe. Edit to add: if anything like me, mine is just on the one foot so if I buy wide shoes, the other is super sloppy. This is why a better shape toe box works better than a wide fitting shoe in my opinion.
Same here, I tried the Prodigio Pro and they felt wider than the Kjerag 1. Couldn’t try the Kjerag 2 in my size. Never had any issues with the Matrix upper, but I’m not sure what material La Sportiva uses.
I have raced both MS4 and Prodigio Pro in mountain races. Prodigio Pro is a liability in technical terrains, its bouncier foam, narrower platform, softer collar/heel (all relative to MS4) will cause stability issues when \*running\* in rocky and steep surfaces unless you're a pro. My legs get tired faster in Prodigio Pro than in MS4 despite the former is 30 grams lighter per shoe. The regular Prodigio is a better in that regard but range limited.

Shoes fit everyone differently so don’t know if there’s a best, but I have been loving my La Sportiva Prodigio Pros. Well cushioned, great grip, and love the sock-like upper
495 miles? Mine are at just over 200 and look like that and the midsole is packing out already… I’m in socal where trails aren’t that technical. Love the shoe but the durability doesn’t seem great on my pair :(
