I've got a pair of Merrell MQM MTL that I used it for hiking/(none technical) climbing and trail running during my summer holiday in the alps. I would do a 10k trail run in the morning before going on a long and steep late morning hike with the odd scrambling and downhill run thrown in. Comfortable in screes as well as muddy or wet conditions. In the evening I would slip it on again before heading to the local restaurants or bars.

I wear Merrell MTL MQMs exclusively, lol... Hiking, running, working, whatever... Got three pairs on a crazy sale and rotate them. Unless I have to deal with a snowstorm or need a hard toe shoe for work they're all I wear.

I’m a big fan of Merrell MTL MQM trail runners. I have several pairs and wear them daily as well as hiking. They’ve held up to pretty intense abuse, are plenty light, and are amazing on rocky trails.

Over the years I’ve worn trail runners from Merrill and Salomon, or standard running shoes from Nike and NB. A comfortable fit was the main criteria. Even on wet ground I’d rather have fast drying sneakers than boots.

I wouldn't know haha. I have some wide feet and have no problems. About 100 miles of trails and they look like they are brand new besides mud stains.

I’ve got two pairs of trail runners 1 merrell and 1 Nike Pegasus gtx. Both 9.5ik size. The merrell are roomier but have a slightly harder sole. The Nike have a softer sole but are tight across the width of the foot. So as others have said try and get to a running shop and try them on with different types of socks.
