Probably it's a good idea to find shoes that fit well then bring them to a cobbler to glue 6 mm vibram lugs. Mount To Coast H1 has wide-sih toe box and narrow midfoot, the dual lacing system is weird but you can loosen up the toebox part. unfortunately the lugs on the H1 aren't good for mud. They're releasing M1 this year but the lugs are only 4 mm. Norda 055 will have 5mm lugs, spacious toebox, but midfoot is a bit too wide.
I would do anything for the H1 with a vibram outsole and 4mm lugs. They would make an obscene amount of money. In the southern Appalachians it’s pretty rare for me to run in the H1’s without slipping at least a couple times. Any mud whatsoever, forget it. The slightest moisture on rock? You’re gonna slip. But gosh darn it everything else about the shoe is so good.
