Mrs got the Lone Peak 9 in 2E (shss usually a 4E) and so far no complaints I picked up the New Balance Hierro v9 and again loving them. https://www.northernrunner.com//shoes-c133/waterproof-gore-tex-running-shoes-c1401/fresh-foam-x-hierro-v9-gore-tex-wide-mens-trail-running-shoes-black-p10121/s75632
I have the Hierro v9 2e, currently returning. The toe cap presses into the foot. The width is shocking, narrower than Hoka 2e. And it was too small size wise. I would go up 1/2 at least.
Just got in some NB Hierro v9, 4E. Felt great on a little 5k break in run. The Cascadia 2E are just a hair to narrow for me when my feet start swelling
I do New Balance Hierro in wide; new balance- for me - has offered the ankle support I “need” while I try to get more familiar with zero drop feel.
New Balance Hierro’s. I’m blessed with the big/heavy so my ankles are taking a lot of pressure. Most running stores place me in a stable ankle with their observations, videos, imprint tests. New balance is (unfortunately… because they’re unattractive, IMO) the only shoe that gets wide enough for a tailors AND a hallux bunion. Did I mention blessed? lol. I, working on all of my stuff so it doesn’t take me out - in the mean time - I also like a vibram partnership… they really do feel like the Goodyear for the shoe. For my road runs- I’m moving toward Altra’s zero drop gradually. Hard on these calves but there’s probably some foot relieve there, too.
I’ve got both the asics trabuco gtx 12 and the new balance hierro goretex. Both are great shoes I bought on discount. The asics are a bit more sturdy, harder grip and less breathable whereas the new balance I would wear to work on a rainy day
New Balance Hierro x Fresh Foam goretex trail shoes. Feet are warm and dry! I just use my regular running socks with them.
New Balance 4e (x-wide), Dynasoft Nitrel v6 Gore-Tex trail runners.
This is so funny as I own all three. I wouldn’t do an ultra with new shoes so close… but if you’ve got some 30k+ runs in the next few weeks maybe it’d be fine? Anyway about the shoes. Genesis are in my daily rotation but haven’t done more than a half marathon in them. If I remember correctly they’re quite low stack height? I remember my first few runs in them I could definitely feel it in my knees but they’re fine after breaking in. I also own those exact color of Ultra Glides. They are beefy and feel quite heavy on the feet. My last race was 55km and 3500hm. I wore them as it was quite dry and all good but yeah definitely felt them towards the end. But at the same time I appreciated the cushion. I wouldn’t wear them again though on something so long and technical. Definitely definitely I had to size up in these. The NB i cannot run in. I’ve had them for a year as my daily sneaker but running in NB is a no go for me, my big toe just gets beaten up by the toe box.
