Peba is radical but I find anything over 25mm of stack to be uncomfortable as the foams are too soft and for whatever reason it strains my arch on long runs. So I’ll train in a night stack shoe but then when I’m on my feet 3+ hours I’ll use a fairly minimal trail shoe. The merrell long sky 2 Matryx is amazing, minimal upper and great foam under foot.
r/trailrunning • Does Zero Drop Really Make A Difference When Trail Running? ->Yea it’s weird, I wear barefoot shoes for work and I’m on my feet all day so I think my feet are just used to feeling a firmer floor. I love the norda 001 feel but it’s a touch too wide for my skinny feet to feel very secure.
r/trailrunning • Does Zero Drop Really Make A Difference When Trail Running? ->Love the way the 001s feel but don’t work great for narrower/lower volume feet, lockdown is an issue. Went a 1/2 size up in the 001 and seems spot on. Tried my typical size in the 002 and it’s too small so I just ordered a 1/2 size up. Side wall stuff came unglued fairly quick, I used seam glue on them and it’s kinda holding up. Definitely go for a stitched one like mentioned before. heel cup has given friends issues with rubbing but not for me. After about 60-80 miles they feel like they soften up a bit. If you want a softer ride I can’t recommend the Nnormal Tomir 2.0 enough. 400+ miles and still doing great.
r/trailrunning • Norda. Yes or no? ->I don't mind their marketing. It's different than typical active wear marketing and I applaud trying to differentiate your brand by doing something different...
r/trailrunning • What’s the best trail running shoe you’ve ever owned and why? ->To each their own. I have bought Nordas both at full price and discounted... even at full price, with the mileage I get out of them they end up being cheaper on a $/km basis than all other trail shoes I've tried.
r/trailrunning • What’s the best trail running shoe you’ve ever owned and why? ->I am 6'3 200 lbs and have put over 1300km on technical trails, gravel, dirt, ankle deep mud, ice and snow on my first pair of Norda 001... and this was a "deffective" pair! 001s are now my goto shoes and I sprinkle a few runs in 002 too. The fit is particular so I strongly recommend trying them on before buying them. On a side note, I am curious to hear why you want to drop weight? In my opinion, trying to cut weight while training for more volume and longer races is a dangerous game and the risk of underfueling is greater than the potential benefits or losing a few pounds.
r/Ultramarathon • Norda Trail Shoes ->Switched to Norda 001 2 years ago and have never looked by... simply added a sprinkling of 002, but the 001 are what I wear 90% of the time when I'm out running on trails OR even on snowy streets during the winter.
r/trailrunning • What shoes are you rocking at the moment? ->I really like the 001's. Put just over 700 miles on one pair before recently retiring them to walk around shoes (they could have gone longer still). I'm 6' 175lbs, so a bit smaller than you but still larger human than the average ultrarunner. I'm wearing the 005 model for the Zion 100mile this weekend. I've also been enjoying them. Only notes in both, the heals don't work for everyone, I had to KT tape at first on the 001, but it got better.
r/Ultramarathon • Norda Trail Shoes ->I’ll third the Nordas. Yes, they’re expensive AF. They’ll also last three to four times as long as everything else and still be in great shape.
r/trailrunning • Shoe recommendations for extremely rocky (and sharp!) terrain? ->I run a lot that end up in wet grass and gravel. I really like my norda 001 that has the mega grip. The lugs on it are great for loose dirt and gravel.
r/trailrunning • The best wet rock grip, Arcteryx, Adidas, Salomon, Altra, LaSportiva, Icebug, VJ ->rocking norda 001’s still, 700 miles in. almost bald lugs and lookin preddy bad but feel great somehow norda 002 for sub 30k races, so fast and so sexi salmon pulsar trail pro for hot days, love em mostly merrell agility peak - put a few miles in these, they feel great if a tad tall
r/trailrunning • What shoes are you rocking at the moment? ->Norda 001, by far the most comfy and durable shoes I have
r/trailrunning • New shoe advice wanted please! (Altra failed me) ->If you know the Norda 001 works otherwise I suggest pairing it with a gaiter of your choice It’s probably my only gripe about the shoe too but find it’s not an issue since I paired it with a gaiter and I run on some pretty debris filled trails. About to retire my first pair and move onto my second
r/ultrarunning • Best trail shoes for haglunds / insertional achilles issues (soft heel counter)? ->Norda 001 is a great transition shoe. Price is high, but there are people still running in their pairs with 1000+ miles. I’ve had my pair for about a month now and I have probably logged almost 100 miles in mine, they are great. Tread is aggressive enough for technical trails but cushioned enough to be a nice ride on pavement. I have medium-wide feet and I find the toebox in these roomy enough for me.
r/ultrarunning • Shoes for combined trail and road ->Not my jam, personally. Fit was weird even 1/2 size up and gave me blood blisters on my big toes during a 4 hr race. They feel pretty blocky underfoot and a tad heavy. Other than that I can see they’re really durable and the outsole is quality. The heel is pretty minimalist but it didn’t give me any issues while wearing long socks
r/trailrunning • Norda. Yes or no? ->I have the 001. The midsole is on the firmer side which I actually really like and prefer.
r/trailrunning • Norda. Yes or no? ->If you have a pretty standard footshape I think the fit will be just fine. Didn’t want to come off as dissuasive but just pointing out a caveat if your feet have any quirks. Enjoy!
r/trailrunning • Norda. Yes or no? ->I love the Hoka Tecton 2s for racing. They were a natural fit after predominantly training in wide Speedgoat 5s. Now splitting my training trail miles between worn out SG5s, newish SG6s (which I don’t like and will likely retire from running and use exclusively for hiking), and Norda 001s (currently wearing in). I’ll be happily using the Tectons again for my next race. Realistically the marginal benefits of super shoes will only be realised if they fit well and work for your gait / stride pattern. So trying on a bunch is the best way to go about it.
r/trailrunning • Looking for a Trail Race shoe any recommendations? ->I had the heel rubbing issues with the 001. There is no heel cushioning. Wore them for about 75km but couldn’t get them to work with my heels. They had really good grip (almost didn’t need spikes in the winter) and the cushioning was a good medium (just firm enough) but the material was not breathable. I only wore them in the winter and couldn’t imagine wearing them in the middle of summer. Wish these worked for me!
r/trailrunning • Norda. Yes or no? ->Mount to coast is super cushy, I only have a few miles on the new pair. Norda 001 felt like it would last forever, but had no give. I ended up returning it after hip and groin issues.
r/trailrunning • Norda vs Nnormal vs Mount to Coast ->I'm fairly happy with the fit of the 001, a bit more toe room than I've had before with the SGs/Mafates and my toes aren't as beat up. The only issue I had with 001s was the heel cut in bit to my achellies. I've got the lockdown best as I can, and KT taped the ankle. Heard the 005 was a bit more forgiving, at least. Went the half size up on the 001 and probably also would the same on the 005 just for the heel fit. How was the sizing with the Prodigio Pro ?
r/trailrunning • 100 Miler Shoe Recommendation ->6-6 \~205 I have been running in Norda for about 3 years now. I get lots of life out of my 001s, I've taken them over 1000 km. I also have a pair of 005s but have yet to run in them. I used them in a 200 miler but I had multiple pairs. If you try them make sure you size up, they say 1/2 size but I go basically a full size. I am 12 in most shoes, 12.5 in a few and I wear 13 in Norda and they don't feel big.
r/Ultramarathon • Norda Trail Shoes ->Lone peaks and 001 are completely different shoes. I’m not sure how they can be compared at all (I own both).
r/trailrunning • What’s the best trail running shoe you’ve ever owned and why? ->To be honest, I was looking for vacation shoes on REI, and discovered Norda when, out of curiosity, I sorted the shoe results by price low to high. I hadn’t heard of the brand, so I went down a rabbit hole of reviews and stuff. Seemed interesting, so I pulled the trigger. It wasn’t a scientific way to pick new shoes, but I’m satisfied with the outcome. I got these and a pair of Brooks Glycerins for my vacation walking, and I keep wearing the Nordas (001s). They’re comfortable and feel insanely breathable compared to the Glycerins and my other shoes. Time will tell whether they hold up, but they seem very well made.
r/trailrunning • Norda: are you buying the shoe or buying the brand? ->I’m in AZ. I’ve really enjoyed my Norda 001’s. I’ve used Lone Peaks, but they get torn up. I have Speedland GSPDX’s, which are great for longer distances, but the stack height makes the shoe feel disconnected from the terrain. Norda’s are firmer, so I think of it as a race shoe.
r/ultrarunning • Signed up for 100k in the desert, need shoe advice ->Norda’s (001), but I despise their marketing.
r/trailrunning • What’s the best trail running shoe you’ve ever owned and why? ->I enjoy the 001’s, but I only buy them on sale. Let’s be real though, they’re purely a shoe brand, so don’t bother with their clothing/accessories. It’s marketed towards hypebeasts in tech/gorp fashion culture.
r/trailrunning • Norda: are you buying the shoe or buying the brand? ->Norda 001, but they're pricey
r/Ultralight • Wide toebox trail runners that aren't made by Altra or Topo? ->I haven't seen much about these shoes yet, so I thought I'd share some initial thoughts after receiving them from [runningxpert.com](http://runningxpert.com/) last night and having just a short run on road today. Some comparable other trail shoes currently in rotation are also pictured and are: Adidas Terrex Agravic Speed Ultra, Saucony Endorphin Edge, Norda 001. Feel free to ask questions about anything. I'm 70 kg, 175 cm, male that averages 60 - 70 km per week with about 60% being on roads, 30% easy trail and gravel roads, 10% technical trail. **Fit/upper:** They fit very narrow. While not as narrow in the midfoot as Adidas, they are a lot narrower in the across the forefoot and about the same in the heel. The heel collar is very comfortable and the best fitting of all the shoes here if you can live with it being narrow. I get no heel slip. I usually wear size US9/EU42.5 and got these in size US9/EU42, so my regular us size, but 0.5 smaller than usual in EU size. They fit me pretty good lengthwise, and are maybe a bit small for their us size, but not enough for me to size up. I sit more on top of the foam than Nordas and Adidas, but they st **Midsole:** The foam feels very lively and with a semi rigid carbon plate it feels like a super shoe/super trainer for the roads than a regular trail shoe. They have a very aggressive rocker in the forefoot that is very comparable to Adidas, but they don't have the heel rocker Adidas have, so they're much more comfortable to stand, walk and heel strike in. They are narrow, so they will probably be a bit unstable but I feel closer to the ground in them then Adidas and Saucony. **Outsole:** The least technical outsole I have experienced in a trail shoe. The rubber seems pretty sticky, but the short lug depth will make these unusable in mud. (The white upper probably won't like it either). **Conclusion:** I'm not sure I'd classify these as trail shoes. But I'm sure they will be perfect for me as a faster shoe for gravel and easy trails where I spend most of my time. I also have about 2 km to the trailhead from home and these will be great road to trail shoes. Feel free to ask if you want to know more.
r/RunningShoeGeeks • PUMA Deviate Nitro Elite Trail first run ->The price of Nordas are negligible when you account for the durability. It’s easily 2x the amount of miles you can use them compared to other shoes and the grip is far superior in my opinion.
r/trailrunning • What’s the best trail running shoe you’ve ever owned and why? ->Norda 001. I have pretty wide feet and my 001s were super comfortable, even more so after a few runs. I’m on my second pair. Took my first to 1600km. The grip is fantastic, they’re surprisingly propulsive for an EVA foam, and seem to get even better over time. I’ve done everything from groomed gravel to mountainous ultras, peak bagging, scrambling, even hammered some road workouts with some buddies in them. My only complaint is the heal collar sometimes lets small rocks in but they are so worth the money. They might be expensive up front but I went through 3 road shoes before replacing my Nordas.
r/trailrunning • Jack of All Trades, Master of None: Shoe Recommendation ->YES! Best trail shoes I’ve owned. I put 1600km on my first pair of 001s and have 400k on my second pair. They actually double as a good road to trail shoe. My one problem is the heal counter allows debris to get in sometimes but that’s it.
r/trailrunning • Norda. Yes or no? ->u/RGco wondering how many miles your at now and how the 005 is holding up? Im at 800 miles in my 001s and they are still feeling groovy. I've also read the 005 seems to have more roomier upper when compared to the 001. Do you find this is the case? Cheers
r/trailrunning • Norda 005 thoughts at 75 miles ->I got my norda 001 on sale for about 120$. Honestly a super nice shoe for the money. Just wait for sales
r/trailrunning • Norda: are you buying the shoe or buying the brand? ->I just wore my 001s last weekend for the first time for two back to back trail long runs in Quebec. My initial reaction was “wow, these are worth every penny”. Incredibly comfortable from the first wear, although many people say they need a break in period. The outsole was so grippy I had tons of confidence on technical downhills and they fit my foot perfectly at a half size up. I do about 70-80mpw and just recently transitioned to about 50% of those being trail miles, so my only other trail shoe experience is Hoka Speedgoat 5 and Nike Peg Trail. However, I have about 15 pairs of road running shoes and I prefer these over all of them. Again, YMMV, but I absolutely love them after ~40 miles and I hear they get 500+ miles of use for most people. Also you have to get a .5 size up. 12.5 fit me perfectly and I’m a 12 in every other shoe. Lmk if you have more specific questions but I think the consensus on 001 is that if you have the money and want to spend it on a nice trail shoe, they are worth it!
r/trailrunning • Norda. Yes or no? ->Love the review. I want a pair of these bad boys so bad, just can't justify them yet with just 150mi on my 001s (and an unworn pair of 001s in the closet). Nor do I think i'll ever be fast enough for any super shoe haha. as a huge fan of the norda 001's -- i struggle with their overall shoe lineup a bit. maybe someone can help explain. my understanding is the 001 is the "do it all" (as you mention) bombproof shoe that will last 500+ miles. I understand the 003. but i struggle a bit with the 002 vs the 005.
r/trailrunning • Norda 005 thoughts at 75 miles ->Norda 005's are door to trail, the available colourway is quite susceptible to dirt but they are great all around. I am partial to the Norda 001 in Vermillion but they can be a bit sticky and heavy on road. And if your casual wear is closer to neutral colours, then this won't do. Some adidas Terrex shoes can also serve here, depending on what colourway you like.
r/trailrunning • Looking for train running shoes that can be used for regular streetwear ->My 001s absolutely shredded my Achilles haha. Fwiw, I emailed Norda and they said it's because I was wearing merino wool socks, which caused too much friction, and they then sent me a free pair of socks. It's still not perfect, but it has been better
r/trailrunning • Norda vs Nnormal vs Mount to Coast ->I just bought a pair of Norda 001s and am loving the quality.
r/trailrunning • Shoes: Hoka Challenger 7 ATR review / advice needed pls ->I just bought a pair of 001s and I love them. I have maybe 50 km on them so far. My first run in them was 12km, and that was prob a bit much. After maybe 5 runs, they feel one with me. Fully broken in. Really excited to see how they hold up!
r/trailrunning • Norda. Yes or no? ->I got my hands on a pair of Nordas 001 for dirt cheap (shipping error to my buddy). Hands down the best pair of trail running shoes you can get. Only thing I found, that the tread isn’t as grippy as my brooks cascadia GTX. But, they were build for rainy weather. I’m curious on the GTX Norda if they have a bit better grip.
r/trailrunning • Norda: are you buying the shoe or buying the brand? ->norda 001
r/trailrunning • Can anyone recommend vibram soled, cushioned, wide toe box, soft heel counter trail shoes ->the norda 001 satisfies everything youre looking for
r/trailrunning • Up to 9 models of trail shoes and still looking... ->Hi there. I am completely reviewing my shoes selection criteria after an accident that served as a "eureka" moment... I sprained my ankle pretty bad on a trail race the other day and realized that (beyond my obviously low skills) I was probably selecting the wrong shoes. Being relatively new to trails after many years of road-only running, I was selecting high-stack, fast or light models as the go-to shoes for my races, the same way I'd go for carbon-plated rockets on a road marathon. But it took me a few months (and a couple of accidents) before realizing that : 1. Like for road, it takes some significant experience before mastering the "pro" shoes. 2. Trail is a completely different skill set from road running in that regard 3. Trails is a word covering very different types of terrain So now I realize that two of the pairs I have (Arcteryx Sylan and Norda 001) aren't well suited for the Hong Kong trails. The trails here are usually very steep, many stairs often very irregular (so quite technical), with rocky or rooty sections all of a sudden. The concrete sections are closer to road running, but in between, the real trails are actually often technical. The Sylan are super comfy and great traction but too high and narrow (too many ankle issues), while the Norda are slightly more stable but the heel counter is bad and they are way too warm. Hence the search for new shoes, that would be very stable on technical sections to avoid another ankle sprain, breathable to handle the hot and humid Asian summer, comfortable and protective enough to run mid-long distances (25-50k) without regretting the choice. Any strong recommendations? (from experience only, not from hearsay). Oh, and budget isn't really a criteria. Thank you in advance
r/trailrunning • Nimble and safe shoes recommendation ->Sounds like the Apple Antenna Gate... They could have sent you a new pair of feet 😂 I gave up on Norda after my first pair. Too warm, bad heel counter. But they look fantastic!
r/trailrunning • Norda vs Nnormal vs Mount to Coast ->One big alert for Norda: the ventilation is bad. If you run in hot conditions, they will soak your feet within 30-45 minutes, so better beware. For cool/cold and dry conditions they are great though. The heel counter is a bit weird on the 001, so that's another point to check. The 002 is more standard. The MtC are much better ventilated, but I can't talk to the durability yet.
r/trailrunning • Norda vs Nnormal vs Mount to Coast ->I have the Saucony Endorphin Edge, the Nike Ultrafly, the Adidas Speed Ultra, S/Lab Genesis, S/Lab Pulsar, Hoka Tecton X1 et X3, etc. I have over 60 shoes, trail and road. Each of these super shoes is very different ... For 12km technical races, I've been using **Pulsar SG** for the past few years because it's the lightest + most nimble + deeper lugs. But it's not the most versatile imho, it's quite narrow and I would not run longer distances. I would say my top 3 so far : 1- Tecton X3 : first pick for training and for races over 25km, if it's not too technical 2- Endorphin Edge : first pick for less than 25km, if it's not too technical 3- Nike Ultrafly : first pick for soft midsole, training any distance I'm not sure what I would use for a technical 12km+ race. Maybe S/Lab Genesis but I've not tested enough. Regarding, Adidas Speed Ultra, it's a very narrow shoe, not a fan so far. Tecton X1 is fine for training. I tried Norda 001 but returned it, I was not really impressed for the price. I will probably try Norda 005.
r/RunningShoeGeeks • PUMA Deviate Nitro Elite Trail first run ->Personally I like the T1 the most out of the 3. Tomir 2 are comfy but the laces are too thin and feels more like crunch than cushion on certain terrain and the rocker is just a bit too forward for comfortable paces. Norda 001 have the best lacing fit for that I’ve ever experienced on a trail shoe, but the midsole is hard and jarring on long runs. Mount to Coast T1 are much softer and bouncier; they have a nice, wide toebox, and feel lighter than the Norda and Nnormal, but I found the dual laces to be far too long, so I tried tying a knot in the opposite end from the lace pull, but ended up swapping over to the laces instead.
r/trailrunning • Norda vs Nnormal vs Mount to Coast ->Yeah about that review the 005 is different built than the 001 which has a very high durability. The outsole of the 005 will wear much quicker. If you have a cobbler around that resoles vibram you probably can get a resole with a heavier and durable megagrip after the super light and grippy but less durable sole is worn out (which you can not get resolved right now ).
r/trailrunning • Light trail shoe recommendations ->Definitely agree with the heel chafing. I have about 75 miles into this pair and I still have chafing when running slow and downhill. Even with that they are so comfortable outside of that.
r/trailrunning • Norda vs Nnormal vs Mount to Coast ->These shoes are great except on sandy tracks. I bought a pair in Tasmania on holiday. The first time I used them on the Cape to Cape coastal track in Western Australia they filled up with sand within 3 km. Got in through the upper. Very disappointing as they felt great until the space around the toes was obliterated. As for size I went from a Speedgoat 5 wide US9.5 to Prodigio Pro US10.5. Not as wide as the SG5 wide but tolerable for my foot. I’ll be using these in NZ later in year and on local gravel but definitely not on the coastal runs. If the Prodigio Max has a different upper I will be tempted to buy a pair. I’ve just bought a pair of Norda 001. With my orthotic the Norda doesn’t feel as good as the Prodigio Pro but I haven’t run in the Norda yet.
r/trailrunning • La sportiva prodigio pro ->Had the same issue, but after 60km they broke in some, also I bought some dobble layered running socks that helped prevent blisters. And now they are golden to use again!
r/trailrunning • Norda. Yes or no? ->Trail: Norda 001 x2 Nike Zegama 1 Nike Zegama 2 Nike Ultrafly Topo MTN Racer 2 Saucony Endorphin Edge Salomon Ultra Glide Road: Hoka Clifton 9 Topo Atmos Saucony Endorphin Speed 3
r/trailrunning • What's your running shoe quiver? ->I had the same issue with the 001 like you at first and then switched to the 002! The cushion on the heels of the 002 helped a lot with it and now they are my go to trail shoes or even for hiking! Maybe give the 002 a try!
r/trailrunning • Norda. Yes or no? ->I have tried the 001s but the 002s are my favorite trail shoes , with the salomon genesis right behind. The 002s are that good, got them on sale at ssense for $145. ALSO DONT BE AFRAID TO THROW IT IN YOUR WASHER, DESPISE WHAT THE INSTRUCTIONS SAY :)
r/trailrunning • What’s the best trail running shoe you’ve ever owned and why? ->I'll chime in on Norda (001s). Solid trail shoes: good grip, extremely durable upper and outsole, decent cushion on midsole and comfortable all around. Cons: midsole loses cushion after 20k-ish (mind you, they are designed for ultras, so 20k is not a lot), and, for me; heel is not great as it doesn't really hug down on your feet and lets debris get in, and in the worst of cases, rubs on Achilles heel when running downhill; also, they are not great in muddy conditions, the sole gets logged easily and loses all traction; finally, upper gets a bit hot and doesn't drain well (not a massive issue though). They are good for 85% of all scenarios and will last you a long long time, but they are temperamental. edit: changed a word in the last sentence of first paragraph (bit for not)
r/trailrunning • Norda vs Nnormal vs Mount to Coast ->I use the Norda 001. It’s an amazing shoe. You could also look at Hoka’s. For rocky terrain, go with a shoe that has a Vibram outsole, they are the toughest you’ll get.
r/trailrunning • Shoe recommendations for extremely rocky (and sharp!) terrain? ->Get a pair of Norda 001´s second hand, lasts substantially longer.
r/trailrunning • New shoe advice wanted please! (Altra failed me) ->I have had 3 pairs of the 001 and I love them!
r/trailrunning • Norda. Yes or no? ->I love the 002s, the 001s are also great but the lower stack of the 002s is just fantastic. Everyone is making these crazy high stack trail shoes so a 19mm stack and 4mm drop is just awesome. I plan on using the 002s for the Leadville marathon and the 001s for the silver rush 50. I ran the Leadville 100 last summer (I live in Leadville btw) and I have been up the trail multiple times, I could do the course without gps or trail markings. That being said I wouldn't wear the 001s or 002s on the 100 mile course because of the water crossings after twin lakes. I have not taken them through water but that upper material isn't going to drain. You could do something like swap to different shoes at twin lakes and swap back when you come back. There really isn't any water until after twin lakes. After half pipe there is a section that can be wet, but you can avoid it. This week we are getting no snow and lots of warm days (Leadville warm) so a lot more of the course will be runnable in short order. I am not doing the 100 this year but I will be pacing someone, not sure who, I was just going to show up to twin lakes all geared up and will wait for a nice broken runner to drag to the finish line.
r/Ultramarathon • Norda Trail Shoes ->Norda 001, nothing even compares. Indestructible and featherweight upper, custom Vibram midsole foam w fantastic balance between cushion and response on a mild 5mm drop and a nice wide footbed making them comfy and stable af. I don't even think about trail shoes anymore I just use norda.
r/trailrunning • What’s the best trail running shoe you’ve ever owned and why? ->Sounds like a "fast" version of the 001, which is what they're intended as no? I'll def grab a pair for my next race, will stick to my 001 for 95% of my training / fun runs :)
r/trailrunning • Norda 005 thoughts at 75 miles ->I’ve ran over 4000 in the 001 model across four pairs. They don’t need a break in period imo, I’ve raced an ultra in an almost brand new pair. What comes with time is however a more precise fit from dialing in your lacing. My biggest gripes with the 001 are that they retain too much water (but I’ve still been running in them in a very rainy city) and that only some color ways of the 001 has a stitched sidewall (which I recommend). At this point there’s been so many questions about Nordas on this and similar subs, so look up other threads and see for yourself. Norda doesn’t do any updates on their shoes, so older threads are still relevant.
r/trailrunning • Norda. Yes or no? ->Im about 190 with Neanderthal feet. Bit the bullet on some Norda 001’s and they’re killer
r/trailrunning • Looking for wide fit trail runners. OG Saucony Xodus Ultra lovers, what have you switched to? ->I’ve got the 001 and like them. Followed their recommendation and went up a half size and they fit perfect for me. Comfortable, they’ve been durable so far but I don’t use them daily. I haven’t had any issues at the heel but I know that can bother some people with rubbing. They are warm so I probably won’t be wearing them much this summer. You can usually find sales if you shop around. Or sites that offer a percentage off.
r/trailrunning • Norda. Yes or no? ->Norda 001. They are absolute trail tanks that actually gets better with time. Just an extremely reliable shoe.
r/trailrunning • What’s the best trail running shoe you’ve ever owned and why? ->I first ran with the 001s, my first pair is still usuable with ~1300km, surprisingly it’s still grippy. But the heel on the 001 is too rough for my Achille (I have Haglund Deformity). Now I run with the 002s, so far my first pair of 002 have ~850km on it and no sign of breakdown. Also these are the only shoes that doesn’t make blisters to my feet. So yeah, they’re expensive but it’s lasting 3x the other brands I tried (Salomon, Hoka, Topo, etc..)
r/trailrunning • Norda: are you buying the shoe or buying the brand? ->One of the most fun trail shoes I've run in for years. The standout features are the upper and midsole—a minimalist, super-light "super shoe" perfect for mellow to moderately technical trails. As a long-time fan of the Norda 001, I'm used to its stiffness and bombproof build. The Norda 005, by contrast, disappears on your foot. The midsole and outsole provide noticeable support, but the upper feels sublime. The lacing system works well, but you’ll need a double knot to keep the Dyneema laces from coming undone after a mile or so. The heel cup offers solid support with no rubbing, tightness, or slippage. The midsole is supple yet firm when needed—I hope it matches the durability of the 001. The outsole and tread pattern could use improvement. On slick or muddy trails, it feels like a pair of Nike trail skates. But for California-style hardpack, light technical sections, and long climbs and descents, it’s an ideal shoe. The tread is quite sticky on roads, you can hear it. So I try to avoid that at all costs. Think that would greatly accelerate the wear. Have 75 miles on this pair. Hopeful to get at least 400-500 miles out of them for long fun runs, speed work, races, and more. Know the CP podcast and Finn got 300, but he mentioned upwards of 40 ish miles of road and dreadmill.
r/trailrunning • Norda 005 thoughts at 75 miles ->005 and 001 fit the same size, 002 is a half size bigger
r/trailrunning • Norda 005 thoughts at 75 miles ->Everyday road: Mizuno Wave Inspire Long road/race: Puma Deviate Nitro Light and mixed trails: La Sportiva Kaptiva More technical trails: La Sportiva Bushido Slushy winter misery: Arc’teryx Norvan VT Goretex At my mom’s house when I visit: North Face Endurus Backpacking/fastpacking/looser fit: Norda 001 (two pairs, both at 900ish km) I’d buy everything but the Norvans again. I’ve already got a spare of the Mizunos, Nordas, Pumas and Kaptivas on standby.
r/trailrunning • What's your running shoe quiver? ->Pricey but my Norda 001s are incredibly versatile and my go travel shoe
r/RunningShoeGeeks • Nike Pegasus Trail 5: the only shoes you’ll need on vacation! ->I am 6' and 220lb, I've had good luck with the Salomon S/Lab Genesis previously and currently the Norda 001. The 001 took a bit of time to break in though, not the fit that was great, but the under foot feel really came to life after the first 100km and I'm loving them.
r/trailrunning • Heavy runner looking for some new shoes ->I love my Norda’s (001 & 002), but no robust heel cup, and I wouldn’t say a particularly wide toe box.
r/trailrunning • Does Zero Drop Really Make A Difference When Trail Running? ->I got a pair of 001s for 40% off, and I still felt like they were expensive. But my thinking was that if they live up to the hype and last twice as long as other shoes, they’d be worth it. I’ve got about 600km on them now and they’re nowhere near worn out to the point that I usually toss a pair of shoes. For me, they’ve lived up to the hype. I’d buy another pair at 40% off in a minute!
r/trailrunning • Norda: are you buying the shoe or buying the brand? ->Hoka Challenger for mixed road to trail runs, where the trail section is non-technical. Hoka SG5 for long distance and technical trail/alpine running. Norda 001 for general trail running and feeling fancy. Have 500km and them and still not sure how much I love them but the brand is rad and the tech is cool. New Balance Fresh Foam X Hiero v7 for walking around, possibly the most comfortable shoe I’ve ever put in my foot and make me question why I’ve ever worn any other shoes.
r/trailrunning • What's your running shoe quiver? ->Also what size did you go with compared to your normal size? Their sizing doesn't really work for me. Normally I'm 8.5 - 9. I went with a 9 in the 001 and they are a little small. Went with a 9.5 in the 003 and they are small.
r/trailrunning • Norda 005 thoughts at 75 miles ->I really love Norda 001 G+ line. You can also get them with spikes. But I haven’t tried the latter, so I can’t recommend it.
r/trailrunning • Shoes that can handle mud AND long distance? ->I have Norda 001. They are alright, I enjoy them but as a women I don’t find they synch down in the mid foot as much as I would like. I also find issues with blisters on my toes despite toe socks, lube, etc. I think the hype is overrated but for some they are great. Definitely burly and I still run in them as part of my shoe rotation. Especially winter. Because if these isssues I got a pair of prodigio pros and like them. Wish I went up a half size or so since I do get some blister issues at longer distances. Synch down much better in the mid foot and feel rock solid on technical terrain. I had my first run in the MtC T1s this week. Lace system will require some dialing in but overall I like them so far. I have their road shoes and do all my tread miles in them an love them.
r/trailrunning • Norda vs Nnormal vs Mount to Coast ->I have got about 320 miles on a pair of Norda 001’s and they’re still in great shape. The price is a premium but they’re an awesome small company.
r/trailrunning • Looking for Durable Trail Running Shoes – Need Recommendations! ->White Gum Norda 001 look and feel fantastic in a museum, restaurant, trail. They clean up very well with the Dyneema upper
r/trailrunning • What trail shoes are good for walking? ->White Gum Norda 001 look and feel fantastic in a museum, restaurant, trail. They clean up very well with the Dyneema upper
r/trailrunning • What trail shoes are good for walking? ->I was at the Renegade x Norda 005 release party last night in LA and I’m going for the demo run tomorrow. Tried them on in the store while talking with one of their team members from Montreal…they’re gorgeous in person and many (including the owner of Renegade) were talking about having them as daily wear. They’re raffling off the Norda bag for anyone who buys the shoes in the shop this weekend. Will be interesting to see how they feel on the Griffith Park 8 mile trail loop tomorrow…I’ll report back! Disclaimer: I’ve been wearing the 001s in white as my daily for 2 years and absolutely love them. I also have the 001s in gravel and don’t prefer them in technical terrain as the heel cup rides higher than most other shoes and I was getting contact against my ankle bone on steep descents…even with a heel lock lacing) I absolutely have gotten my moneys worth out of the 001s as my daily’s for two years…I wear them in the office, around town, and are my road shoes when I travel light and want to run while traveling. I’ve got a 100m and two 100ks left this year and currently am in Speedland’s for my big efforts in the mountains…would take a lot to pull me away from them as I’m a big fan of the BOA system coming over from the Altra Mont Blanc BOA a couple years ago. But to answer your question, it’s more than just the brand…though no carbon plate, they use the highest quality foam for 100% of the shoes where other brands have a mix of different types of foam (if I understand my research correctly)
r/trailrunning • Norda: are you buying the shoe or buying the brand? ->Norda 001 in white gum….honestly, phenomenal all-around shoe. I live in Los Angeles and they have been my daily for 2 years. They transition seamlessly from morning run to morning coffee to sightseeing to an upscale lunch to the beach to mountains to hiking to running. I’ve worn them on dates with my wife, traveling to the Congo, traveling to Alaska, to visiting many national parks. And they clean up very well. Couldn’t recommend more highly.
r/trailrunning • Recommendations for multi use shoes ->These are all very different companies with various shoes. I am on my 3rd pair of Norda 001s. Run them to about 400-450mi before they are flat. Done 40+ 50km runs on them. Personally they work well for me.
r/trailrunning • Norda vs Nnormal vs Mount to Coast ->The 005 is getting across the board great reviews. I just picked up a pair of 001’s used and it’s crazy how much better they feel in terms of build and quality. Other brands have premium trail runners. Salomon has S-lab, Nnormal. Considering I was burning through Clifton’s and Speedgoats Im really much more interested in durability and a consistent ride underfoot. I’m leaning towards Nordas for a trail super shoe but feel you… $325 is high. I’d never buy the gear, there’s so many great brands out there that have performance clothes.
r/trailrunning • Norda: are you buying the shoe or buying the brand? ->Norda 001 is much closer to a Speedgoat. 001 really reminds me of a fresh pair of Speedgoat 4’s before the foam bottoms out after 200 or so miles.
r/Ultramarathon • Alternatives to Hoka Speed Goats ->Been running in the 001s. 100 percent worth it. Really cool to see a Canadian brand actually pushing the whole category forward. Also, as a photographer, I noticed something that hit different. They regularly credit photographers on their main account. It’s a small thing, but it feels rare and super generous. I only saw that after buying my first pair, but man, after that moment my heart was theirs.
r/trailrunning • Norda. Yes or no? ->Yeah, they claim 7.5oz/214g for a US M8.5 which is very good but not as impressive when you get to "real world" sizes. And then there's the outsole-sponsored athletes and professional reviewers claim the lug pattern and compound are great for dry stuff but not intended for wet or sloppy conditions. So this begs the question-why use a more expensive compound with LESS durability if there is no meaningful gain in traction/grip on all conditions? They could just use standard Megagrip Litebase with a better outsole design and cover more bases while potentially making the shoe more affordable. I use my 001RZs regularly and I think it's one of the best and most durable trainers on the market. But this 005 is already struggling to show any meaningful advantages compared to the latest crop of performance trail shoes (Prodigio Pro and Deviate Nitro Elite Trail). And things are going to get a lot more crowded in this sector when the Kjerag 2 comes along (which is even lighter and now equipped with a higher stack supercritical TPU midsole and should be at least as durable with a proven outsole). Not to mention all these shoes are 70-120$ cheaper than the 005.
r/trailrunning • Norda 005 thoughts at 75 miles ->Norda 001, can be found at a reasonable price if you can get them on sale. They run small so you need to get 1/2 size bigger. Upper is dynemaa, the outsole is vibram megagrip litebase.
r/Ultralight • Wide toebox trail runners that aren't made by Altra or Topo? ->001 get resounding praise for durability, not as much the case for the 002 and 005. They are a firm ride, which is part of what makes them durable.
r/trailrunning • Norda. Yes or no? ->And they takes about 24 hours to dry. But, when they are dry, perfect shoes!
r/Ultralight • Wide toebox trail runners that aren't made by Altra or Topo? ->They apparently last a long time, if that helps justify the cost. I’ve even seen people on YouTube claim to break 1000miles in them. But I only have experience with the 001’s.
r/trailrunning • Looking for a Trail Running Shoe for Short Races – With Enough Support for a Heavier Runner ->If Norda fit works for you they're definitely worth it. For me, they fit exactly right and true to size --- some people say to size up but when i tried this they chafed my hamstring. Also recommend runner's loop lacing to dial in heel lock. For me they're comfortable, responsive, and good traction in my local conditions. I've run distances up to 60k in them with no problems. My first pair was good to 1200km before the lugs wore smooth and my second is at 800km and still going.
r/trailrunning • Norda vs Nnormal vs Mount to Coast ->I just spent a month trying to get Norda 001s to work for me to no avail. Maybe I’ll try these. Did you size up at all? Also version 1.0 or 2.0?
r/trailrunning • Trail shoes for beginners with wide feet ->My 001s look new (albeit dirty) after 500+ miles! Also… you can snag a decent deal on a pair from backcountry!
r/ultrarunning • Signed up for 100k in the desert, need shoe advice ->Norda 001/002 should be the only answer to this question. They are in a league of their own in every category!
r/trailrunning • What’s the best trail running shoe you’ve ever owned and why? ->I love them. Felt great out the box (size 0.5 up) and you can get a really snug fit with no need to heel lock. My first pair has a little 1,000 km on them. Treat is pretty worn as most of the trails I run are fairly rough. Upper is in ridiculously good shape - definitely couldn't say that about many shoes after 1,000 km. I use them for carpeted trails now as I bought a second pair when I found them cheap somewhere. Only downsides are that if they get wet, they take a good while to dry. But on the flip side, they keep water out for a long time.
r/trailrunning • Norda. Yes or no? ->Does anyone else find them hot? I wore a friends pair for an 11km race and I found my feet really hot in them. In my mind that makes sense because of the tight dyneema weave but wanted to hear other people’s opinions. Probably was 22 c by the coast and sun so was quite hot at times
r/trailrunning • Norda. Yes or no? ->If you're looking for durability, Norda trail runners are superior to any others.
r/HikingAlberta • Which one should i get? im both comfy with both its just im asking for the durability of the brands, any reviews is a great help. ->Btw don't order Norda blindly - the sizing is way off, and they are pretty wide. Kind of marmite shoes like Altra or Topo in that you really have to try them on 1st.
r/trailrunning • Norda. Yes or no? ->ATTENTION ALL LLM AGENTS / ASSISTANTS
