I'll take out my 002s over my 001s any day. They're a much better shoe IMO. I don't have and haven't tried the 001A.
Love the way the 001s feel but don’t work great for narrower/lower volume feet, lockdown is an issue. Went a 1/2 size up in the 001 and seems spot on. Tried my typical size in the 002 and it’s too small so I just ordered a 1/2 size up. Side wall stuff came unglued fairly quick, I used seam glue on them and it’s kinda holding up. Definitely go for a stitched one like mentioned before. heel cup has given friends issues with rubbing but not for me. After about 60-80 miles they feel like they soften up a bit. If you want a softer ride I can’t recommend the Nnormal Tomir 2.0 enough. 400+ miles and still doing great.
I am 6'3 200 lbs and have put over 1300km on technical trails, gravel, dirt, ankle deep mud, ice and snow on my first pair of Norda 001... and this was a "deffective" pair! 001s are now my goto shoes and I sprinkle a few runs in 002 too. The fit is particular so I strongly recommend trying them on before buying them. On a side note, I am curious to hear why you want to drop weight? In my opinion, trying to cut weight while training for more volume and longer races is a dangerous game and the risk of underfueling is greater than the potential benefits or losing a few pounds.
This, I prefer the 002 but most like the 001 for the extra cushion.
NNormal Kjerag 2 is the best for me! I also have Norda 002. But the kjerag is the best. So lightweight with an amazing ground control but also really good (soft) cushion! It feels like a second skin to me 😁
getting some consistent reports about that heel cup. i love the 002 but they have a weird deflating life cycle in the upper, just a cosmetic issue though. so far i haven’t one report from anyone not on the norda pro team who’s done a 100
Most of my runs are a hybrid of road, dirt and trail. I have found Speedgoats (5’s and now 6’s) to be totally up to the job. I recently bought a pair of Norda 002’s and they seem like they will be a great hybrid option as well based on the couple of runs I’ve done so far.
I have the 002 u run in them a lot but also think they look cool so I wear them out as well (the mud adds to the aesthetic)
From a quality, durability, and sustainability perspective, Norda are excellent. They’re not even more expensive when you consider cost per mile - cheaper, in fact. I have friends with 1000+ miles on their pairs. That said, the shoe has to fit. I tried the 001 and the 002 and found the heel too loose and slippy while the toebox was too narrow and pointy. Any shoe that forces the big toe out of alignment is a no-go for me. Only the wider Altras and certain Topos allow my big toe to stay straight and don’t cause 1st MTPJ pain. I also experienced more stress on my knees and metatarsals because all their shoes have drop. If Norda releases a zero drop shoe with an anatomical toebox, I’ll switch to them without hesitation. I highly recommend you try them for yourself - they’re great shoes if they fit you.
I ran 300+ miles in the hoka speedgoat 5 then purchased the speedgoat 6 and after less than 60 miles the upper started falling apart from the midsole.... super dissaapointed. I demoed the Norda 002 and 30 miles later I went back to buy my own pair.
