This. I own the Glide Max TR, and love them, and a review saw said they are an upgraded version of that. Sounds good to me, next on the list.
Love my glide max TR. Underrated shoe imo
Salomon aero glide 3 GRVL is a popular choice in this space but I haven’t tried it. I have tried the Salomon glide max tr which was the spiritual predecessor of the shoe imo and it’s brilliant - I got it for HM training after watching some reviews of people using it for HM-ultra distances. It doesn’t have a rock plate which might affect your decision if the trails you are running on aren’t super groomed. But for less technical trails, I wouldn’t want anything else on my feet.
I’ve used Salomon Glide Max TR on this kind of terrain and they work great.
I’m curious to hear what everyone is running in at the moment — which shoes are in your active rotation, what you use them for, how many kilometres they have, and which pair is currently your favourite. Here’s mine: **Trail rotation** * **Hoka Challenger 7 – 517 km** * **Salomon Glide Max TR – 396 km** * **Salomon Ultra Flow – 180 km** * **La Sportiva Prodigio Pro – 57 km** **Road rotation** * **Puma Deviate Nitro 2 – 257 km** * **Mizuno Wave Shadow 4 – 424 km** * **Hoka Bondi 8 – 163 km** * **New Balance Rebel v4 – 136 km** **Current favourites:** * **Trail:** *La Sportiva Prodigio Pro* — insanely fast and capable, basically brings road-shoe speed into the trails. The bounce and responsiveness are on another level. * **Road:** *Puma Deviate Nitro 2* — a super comfortable daily trainer that can still pick up the pace thanks to the carbon plate. Very closely followed by the *NB Rebel v4*, which is ridiculously light and fun for everyday runs. What about you - what’s in your rotation right now, which pair are you enjoying the most, and are you currently considering buying any new shoes?
The Salomon has the Contagrip All Terrain. This Contagrip seems that is really really bad. I have the Salomon Quest Elements with Contagrip Mud and is amazing how good the grip is on wet rocks of the rivers. The problem with Salomon is that they only say "Contagrip" and not the kind of Contagrip... And reviewers only say Contagrip. To check the model of Contagrip you have to go to their website and search the shoe and see the details of it.
I just ordered a pair from my local running store, only commenting to suggest you try them on first. I'm a 12 in Salomons and a 12 to 12.5 in Hokas, and I had to size up to a 13 in the 001s.
A pair of Salomon trailrunners. Durable and comfortable.
Over the years I’ve worn trail runners from Merrill and Salomon, or standard running shoes from Nike and NB. A comfortable fit was the main criteria. Even on wet ground I’d rather have fast drying sneakers than boots.
Salomon trail runners. They’re my goat shoes - the only thing they don’t get a grip on is wet wood.
Absolutely, did all of the ABC trek in trail runners (Hoka, Salomon). You really appreciate the lightness of them.
