The Sense 5 and beyond had tragically thin protection in the midfoot and forefoot, with unnecessary heel stack. The 8mm drop kicked the heels up and put increased impact and pressure in the thinly cushioned forefoot. Really poor design. The Sense Pro models were way better imo, as were the S-Lab Pulsar (esp the SG versions).
Great shoe, completed several hundreds in the Ultra Glide 2s and really pleased with the 4s. Sense Pros used to be my go to, but switched to something a bit more plush for longer distances. Good cushion and grip but still feels nimble with decent groundfeel.
Sense Pro (Salomon in general) was my go to shoe. After being discontinued, I couldn't find anything else in their stable that worked for me. With Norda now and I'm here to stay
I use my old trail running shoes for hiking and grocery shopping. I don’t see why you couldn’t combine all that into one pair. What you’re describing can easily be done with something like the Salomon Sense or Genesis.
