"The tread is ultra durable. ... I play 300 days a year and they lasted about 18 months."
"Both Asics gortex and Salomon gortex Ive found to be the best I've used. ... I get probably 2-3000km out of them? ... Say 8km a day of sandstone gravel fire trails and rocky escarpments for a year. I would get 12-18 months out of them. ... Sometimes I just wear out heel rubber and foam is still good so I build it back up using Sikaflex or something to go another 6 month lol"

"Current Salomon trail runners have to thick of a sole and cant feel rock well beneath them ... maybe the ones I have just dont work well for this specific use case."
"I have noticed they fall short when it comes to any mid or slightly more than mid class scrambling. ... Current Salomon trail runners have to thick of a sole and cant feel rock well beneath them"
Supercross4 gtx bought barely 6 months ago 15 minutes walk in wet grass and my feet are drenched. Wtf happened to Salomon really, it used to be great
Yes, thank you, they used to last me 5 years, they never leaked, the soles would wear down before having any other problem. No phoney maintenance whatsoever. Now every year I have to replace them and the goretex is literally bullshit. These shoes have nothing to do with goretex.
Gtx gloves never leak, gtx jacket, pants, never leaked, gtx Salomon before 2019, never leaked. I don’t know whose fault this is, but new gtx products still don’t leak, so there’s definitely something wrong with Salomon gtx shoes. I’ve been buying Salomon gtx trail runners for almost two decades and I’ve seen how they went from reliable golden shoes to useless cheap quality crap.
Yet my feet are wet. I’ve been using Salomon since 2007, speedcross gtx would literally last me 5 years, never leaked, the soles would literally get flush from normal use, and then I’d replace them. in 2020 I bought my last pair of speedcross and they weren’t waterproof, the dealer said “they use climafit, on the tip, which is just as waterproof bro, trust me bro I swear”, well it wasn’t, a single drop of water on my toe would pass right through as if I was wearing bare socks. But they still lasted a few years as shoes were still solid. After that, the betrayal, speedcross gtx (really popular golden standard in my area) started to be pushed less and less by this dealer because of complaints I guess, that’s when I was kinda forced to switch to supercross gtx, and the gtx maybe lasts a few weeks of normal use (no hiking, just walking around in my yard), afterwards, feet will be wet. This is my second pair of supercross in two years. Now I’m done officially with Salomon. I’d rather go barefoot than feeding those pigs a single dime.
This is not the case, I’m not walking in a river, I’m walking in 4” tall wet grass. I expect shoes to be waterproof because it used to be like that and I like my feet dry.
I have a gtx pair and they've been amazing so far. Feet are dry as a bone. Really well made shoe.
I got an old Salomon Supercross 4 sa ukay for just 800 and it could be the most comfortable active shoes ive ever worn. Super yes on Salomon.
If they fit, (which is key) I find the Salomon SpeedCross and Supercross trail shoes are excellent. They do run a bit narrow and would consider a wider footprint. The soles are excellent and are Vibram sole compatible with Contagrip. They have a Boca type lacing system and great heel cup design. Plenty of elite trail runners use Salomon trail shoes. They are durable and long lasting and affordable. They are non zero flat which I prefer. French mountaineering company. Quality. Their sizes can run a bit small. Size up.
I have Salomon gore-tek trail runners. I bought these 5 years ago and used them all over Australia and hike regularly with them. If you want a bit of ankle support go for the hiking boots but on the trails around here you will be fine in trail runners. I found the gore-tex to be worthwhile just because the trails can get muddy after winter and you are able to just step thru them. Took them to do the overland trail in Tassie and held up fine as well. Salomon currently have a sale on.

Solomon’s are great. The mud doesn’t pack up op the sole, super waterproof. The tread is ultra durable. $120-$150 but I play 300 days a year and they lasted about 18 months.
I used to rock a pair of GTX trail runners from Solomon during walnut harvest... They stopped making them (boo), and I couldn't find any existing pairs that weren't stupid-overpriced. I went on a deep dive and tried every GTX model from Solomon, hoping for a replacement. They all fit differently. It was infuriating. So, a warning to all: Try all models of a given brand, because you can't rely on equivalent fit. I currently rock a pair of Altra lone peaks in blue for travel shoes, and they're the only shoes I've bought where I did not have to replace the insoles with my Soles. I was blown away.
In the winter, I play in Salomon Trail Running shoes with goretex. They were great. But they’re expensive, and they only last about one year before the traction runs down on my plant foot. Does anybody have a recommended waterproof shoe under $125? Or some thing that is more durable than the Salomons?
I have a pair of 4 year old Goretex Salomons that are still waterproof despite the age and lack of care (never really cleaned aside from spraying off dirt), so might be a technical defect if the puddle never got past the tongue of the shoe to let water in (if it has no gusseted tongue). Though that is quite coincidental and unlucky you went through 2 brands/shoes like this. I'm also not familiar with La Sportiva since I mostly buy Salomon, but that material looks like mesh to me. I've never seen a pair of Goretex shoes with that kind of material.
