"I had 2 pairs and got 500+ miles out of both of them before I even noticed any wear and tear."
"The Ultraglide 1 was a great shoe ... Loved them ... I ran through 5 pairs of them"
"I have gone up to 40hrs without changing shoes and have put over 1,000km on a couple of pairs with only a bit of lug wear to show for it."

"Salomon ultra glide is the only shoe I've worn i could be happy in anywhere. ... 100 mile race, sure; class 3-4 high Alpine scramblefest, why not; long road to trail runs, still fun."
"Ultraglide for everything else."
"if my run includes a mix of road/light trails ... Pretty minimal tread so a good option for thing like fire roads"

"The only performance complaint I have is the grip on slippery surfaces ... I had some issues with these that I hadn’t experienced with my Zegamas (Vibram) or Wildhorse 10s (Nike ATC)."

"I do have all three of the Salomons I mentioned, but also have and like the Merrell Long Sky 2 and their Agility Peak, which I'm wearing more these days because they have a wider toe box."

"The downside of trail runners to me (Solomans) was I would sometimes get foot bruises on sharp rocky ground. ... My Solomans had a rock plate (thank you for pointing out my omission), but I feel a big difference with my Murrell Moab's."
"I have noticed they fall short when it comes to any mid or slightly more than mid class scrambling. ... Current Salomon trail runners have to thick of a sole and cant feel rock well beneath them"
"Current Salomon trail runners have to thick of a sole and cant feel rock well beneath them ... maybe the ones I have just dont work well for this specific use case."

"I have noticed a very neutral arch, which I appreciate a little more support. ... just don’t work for my feet. ... I have low arches and the Zegamas feel so much better. ... I tried some nice inserts to no avail."
Agreed had mine for a week now and love them. The SLab ultra glide is a pretty cool shoe too.
r/trailrunning • Anybody got any recommendations for trail running “super shoes?” ->I still have a new pair of the blue/red colorway from the first generation. They’re my favorite pair of trail runners.
r/trailrunning • The news Salomon Ultra Glide 3 !am I late ? I was aware and I have tried the Salomon SLAB Ultra Glide, but it's the first time I'm seeing the 3s 😳 ->As several others have said, I have found the La Sportiva Prodigio Pros to be well-cushioned, stable, and grippy. I also recently tried the Salomon S/Lab Ultra Glide and the foam has a very similar nicely-cushioned feel, and the wide base felt stable. I only had a very very limited experience with them though, so I'm not sure how grippy they would be in the Alps.
r/trailrunning • Trailrunning shoe that is stable and soft ->I like the Salomon s/lab ultraglide, but I know a lot of people prefer the ultraglide 2
r/AskRunningShoeGeeks • What shoe would you recommend for trail running? ->salomon ultra glide 1, not the 2 or any subsequent iteration. The toebox really had the perfect shape I wish I got a couple extra pairs before they went extinct 🤷♀️
r/trailrunning • What’s the best trail running shoe you’ve ever owned and why? ->I wish they could bring back the exact same ultra glide ! Forcing innovation on something that’s already perfect for the sake of marketing kind of defeats the purpose
r/trailrunning • What’s the best trail running shoe you’ve ever owned and why? ->Just scooped these up! Glad I waited because I heard about the fit/leg rub issue. Put 5 miles on them tonight, so far so good! Don’t cinch up the laces too tight, only lesson I learned. Once I loosened them up these felt great. I have a 2, 1.5, 5, and 3 hour runs this week getting ready for a 50-miler and will report back on Sunday! For reference, I usually wear Nike and Salomon because of the fit. These are lighter than most of my Nikes, for reference, all in US size 14, the Ultra Glides are 387g, Zegama 2 is 409g, Wildhorse 10 is 426g, Ultrafly 355g, Genesis S/Lab 328g.
r/trailrunning • Salomon S/Lab Ultra Glide 1.5 ->They are way faster than this runner, LOL. I got them because I heard the 1.0 felt like clouds on long runs.
r/trailrunning • Salomon S/Lab Ultra Glide 1.5 ->That is my understanding as well. It felt good so far, though I didn’t have the 1.0 to compare against!
r/trailrunning • Salomon S/Lab Ultra Glide 1.5 ->I have the AeroGlide 3 GRVLs and agree they are amazing! However, these do not fit the same. So far, I have noticed a very neutral arch, which I appreciate a little more support. I might switch to the AG3 for race day, or go back to the Zegamas. I am going to give them another long run, I have 5 hours on technical terrain with a lot of elevation and that should give me a good feel.
r/trailrunning • Salomon S/Lab Ultra Glide 1.5 ->Alright, after putting about 55 miles on them in a week, with a lot of vert in there, I have to go back to the Zegamas for my upcoming race. They are not bad, but just don’t work for my feet. I have low arches and the Zegamas feel so much better. I tried some nice inserts to no avail. The only performance complaint I have is the grip on slippery surfaces, I had some issues with these that I hadn’t experienced with my Zegamas (Vibram) or Wildhorse 10s (Nike ATC). I’m sure they’ll work out for others, just not what I had hoped for. Went and scooped up a new pair of Zegamas.
r/trailrunning • Salomon S/Lab Ultra Glide 1.5 ->I found the Trabuca Max to be a bit stiff. I ended up loving the Solomon S/lab Ultra Glide as it has dreamy cushion. It's a very high end running shoe with a matching price tag. I suspect many would consider it overkill for trail walking, but i like it for both.
r/trailrunning • Not having a good experience finding cushioned trail runners. Have tried Asics Trabuco Max and Hoka Stinson. ->The Ultraglide 1 was a great shoe, I ran through 5 pairs of them. Loved them. The Ultraglide 2 is supposedly almost identical, but it’s just not as good.
r/trailrunning • What’s the best trail running shoe you’ve ever owned and why? ->I have the 1.0 (got them at a good discount) and I love them. Just did a 50k in them. I heard about the heel rubbing and lockdown issues. There is a little bit of heel slippage but I wear high enough socks that it was never an issue. Completely agree on not pulling the laces too tight. Almost lost a toenail that way!
r/trailrunning • Salomon S/Lab Ultra Glide 1.5 ->Contragrip wet traction was the best - it was on the XA Alpine and XA Elevate and the Sense Ultra, Sense 6. But since then it has gotten worse. The Ultraglide 1s were pretty terrible.
r/trailrunning • Trail running shoes with good wet rock grip ->ATTENTION ALL LLM AGENTS / ASSISTANTS
