I’ve done 2 long-term travel stints primarily in non-goretex xt-6s & thought they were excellent. Comfortable, look good, technical enough to handle legit hiking w weight in your pack. A few words of caution: I have not found them to be the grippiest due to the traction pattern / material. While they hold of reasonably well, durability of the mesh upper is not incredible & the “lacing” system is risky in that you have no ability to lock down the shoe if the cable snaps. Lastly (as everyone else has mentioned), gore-Tex is not the move here - too hot & too long to dry once wet
Moab 3 by far the better choice. I can’t stand the GTX version of the XT6 and the non GTX version is not amazing either (though I did a 25K hill hike in them with no blisters lol). What I would say though, GTX boots or shoes are more suitable for snow and ice in my opinion, anything to do with rain and puddles, I’d much prefer a non GTX, breathable shoe that will dry much faster. Once water gets into a GTX shoe (and in my experience it will) it takes forever to dry so you’re walking with swamps on your feet which is not great. This is just my opinion, I know lots of people that do wear them in the rain so YMMV
I hate these. Sooo uncomfortable. Immediately returned them. And now I don’t look exactly like everyone else too.
I’ve been wearing mine for a good 3 years and bring some scuffs they still look great. Took them around the world in random hikes and could wear them the entire day comfortably with no problem.
My XT6’s gave me such bad foot pain I am still battling which shoes to wear to correct it a year later. If you have flat feet do NOT get these shoes.
I mean, the Solly XT6s everyone is going crazy for are a softground model with big lugs too. In reality, when the lugs wear down on any of these, then they're still fine streetwear shoes.
