Mine got eaten up by mile 100. Rubber on the bottom was stripped off by the boulders up in Appalachia. Not sure what to try next.

Have tried a few and here are my thoughts Saucony endorphin edges Very similar to endorphin pro 3s in ride. They are a fast shoe but let down badly by the grip (atrocious on wet rocks) and i struggled with the upper. Go half a size up to normal for these Brilliant for open firetrail Speedland SFD Is it carbon plated? Well they are in there but they offer the least assistance of any i have tried. Broad base and good grip with the absolute highlight being the lock down from the boas. Down side is they drain like shit without cutting the plug out and if you do that they let water in from any wet ground. Price is absurd for what you get Adidas terrex speed ultra This shoe is fast! Probably the quickest trail shoe i have used BUT They are incredibly unstable on anything even remotely uneven, hit a rock wrong and goodbye ankle. The instep rubbed my arch badly so only got 30k in them before passing them on l Hoka tecton x2 These have been an absolute workhorse for me. 400ks in my first pair and they have tons of life left in them. Maybe not the quickest ride but they are on par with the speedlands for stability but much lighter (cheaper too) Highlight for me is the way they drain Downside would be the tongue could be longer and thicker. Had issues with lace bite early on but got the fit dialed now. Great shoe for up to 50ks for me so far. Hoka tecton X3 Very bouncy ride, for me the most on par with road going super shoes. Took me a little to like and trust these shoes but now my go to race shoe. The grip is easily the best of all I have used including the X2s (can't beat vibram megagrip imo) They are wearing well and the ride settled down a touch to not throw me on bad landings( note it still will a bit) Down side, the lacing system not allowing a heel lock. Have to use thicker socks than normal (i prefer steigens) to mitigate the heel not locking 100% The upper is thicker than the X2s and doesn't drain quite as well but on par with most others

I didn't like them. I like a carbon plate for road running, but for trail running I think a shoe needs a bit more flexibility. I didn't enjoy running on technical trails in this shoe at all. If you're mostly running on easy trails and dirt roads they might be OK, but I still wouldn't recommend them.

Sounds like a defect to me. I've got 375km on my pair and have run in al sorts of terrain including roads lots of snowy stuff and mine are perfect. I definitely had durability issues with my peregrines mostly in the upper but I've been shocked how well these edge have held up.

You could try Saucony endorphin edge. I typically wear 4E or 2E when available but the edge fit me really nice. Tons of volume in the upper to accommodate a large foot. Very fast shoe (peba/carbon plate) and some people complain about stability but I've got 350km in mine across all sorts of terrain and absolutely love them.

I have >150 miles in the Tomir 2.0 and previously ran in the Xodus Ultra 1 and 2, and Peregrine 13. Also >500 miles in 2 pairs of the Endorphin Edge. Typically run on hard packed rocky trails. First 50-70 or so miles in the Tomir 2.0 felt a bit narrow in the forefoot/toebox. Not a big issue for short runs, moderately uncomfortable for longer runs. Loosening the laces helped a bit. After 70 miles, the insole has packed down and the upper fabric has loosened so they are generally fine for me on longer runs. I know it's not a case of my feet acclimating to being squeezed because my road shoes were squeezing my feet the whole time until I replaced them recently with the wider Mount to Coast R1. I've done several 20+ mile >4,000 foot runs in the Tomir 2.0 with some moderately technical sections, no width related issues anymore. The cushioning is on the firm side and took some getting used to. Endorphin Edge generally felt like a straight upgrade to the Xodus, lighter and faster feeling at higher paces. Some reviewers reported stability issues but I suspect it's due to (1) the Endorphin Edge being too wide for people who run in Hokas and Nikes, (2) high/max stack, and (3) the Endorphin Edge's plate. In my use, I had to slow down slightly on the looser and more technical downhills particularly when making turns but was notably faster with less effort and more comfort everywhere else. Main downside is that it's a struggle for me to get 300 miles out of a pair because the outsole peeled where the cutouts are, and that the outsole material itself doesn't flex well so I've lost chunks of outsole. It was worth the money when on sale but might be harder to find now. I just pre ordered the Mount to Coast T1 and am hoping it will be a good ultra shoe for me. I've had their R1 road shoes for some time and it fits and runs well for me.

I'm on my third pair of Endorphin Edges and that's how my first pair looked after around 160 miles/257 km mainly on dry rocky US southwest trails. My second pair looked better at the same level of use on the same trails. My third pair is around 100 km and looks to be close to my second pair. I took them out to 300 miles but was more careful on traction for the last bit. Similar results on both pairs of my Xodus Ultra 2s and Peregrine 12. So normal for Saucony but on the lower end for trail shoes in general. What is particularly concerning for me was the damage and peeling from the outsole cutouts and straight up losing chunks of outsole lugs as opposed to having them wear down like in other shoes. It's a shame, because I love the fit of the Endorphin Edge and it's otherwise very durable in the upper and midsole since I retired them from harder trails but still use them for easier trails and roads. I hope Saucony addresses this and was surprised to see their trail line wane after 2020-2023.

I have ~100 miles in the Tomir 2 and ran extensively in the Endorphin Edge, Peregrine, Xodus Ultra, and Speedgoat. For me, the Tomir 2.0 is most like the Peregrine but with better traction. I wouldn't use the Peregrine in anything over a marathon and ditto with the Tomir 2.0. The main selling point of the Tomir 2 to me is better traction and overall shoe life (remains to be seen) since my Peregrines were done after 270 miles on my usual rocky trails. Of these, I like the Endorphin Edge the most and used it for my recent races and long runs. Outsole life and traction need improvement though, I've straight up lost chunks of outsole.

There isn't a best because user preferences and characteristics vary so you really gotta try them. Even then, some shoes fit and perform notably differently when new vs when you have 50 miles in them. I like the Peregrines but go for the Endorphin Edge and Rift when I want more cushioning and the Nnormal Tomir 2 when I want better grip. My Peregrines have nearly 250 miles of very rough terrain on them so they're about toast.

Carbon trail shoes work best when the surfaces are consistently smoother with gentler inclines/declines. I like the Saucony Endorphin Edge. Some reviews have described it as unstable but that hasn't been the case for me, even on technical trails. It also has a relatively wide toebox, albeit not Altra or Topo wide, that might contribute to reports of instability.

There are so many different trail shoes out there that I like to try different pairs when I get new ones, the problem with this is I don’t really know how they will be during longer races. They can feel great for 3-4 hours, but it’s hard to tell how my feet will feel after 8+ hours so I thought I would list the ones I have tried and see what you guys think. Saucony Endorphin Edge- My current “race” shoe. I got them on sale. I wore for shorter distances and they are fine, then I wore them for 2 different 50k and they gave me heel blisters both times. Saucony Peregrine 13- I like these, light, comfortable, but worried about how they would feel after 30+ miles. Saucony Xodus Ultra- I really liked these, but I had them when I wasn’t running as many miles. Also the 3’s have mixed reviews so that makes me nervous to try. Hoka Speedgoat 5- These felt just too chunky. They were comfortable, but just too big. Salomon Ultra Glide 2- These are just fine. I don’t like or hate them, just ok. Also I did a road 50 mile with Saucony Endorphin 3 Pro and my feet were fine, no problems at all. Also my feet are average/narrow so a wide toe box is not a big deal. I was thinking of trying the Nnormal Tomir 2 or Topo’s, but I don’t know anyone who has actually had these and if I’m just being hooked by the marketing, of course sponsored athletes will hype them up. Sorry for the long post and thanks in advance!

These have been my go-to trail shoes for the past two years. They started to show signs of wear after 100 miles but they didn’t get much worse after that. I don’t do a ton of technical, but I have run a technical 100k in the rain and a technical 100 miler a few weeks ago. I like the big toe box and I’ve never had issues with the grip. I put 600 miles on the first pair and 700 on the second. Should have changed sooner but they used to be a lot more expensive. When they went on deep discount recently, I bought 5 pairs.

I don't consider the Norda a super shoe, but that is probably most versatile, but also the slowest. I find the grip on Saucony horrible on wet terrain, which makes their versatility bad. Adidas has worked great for me and I got 750 km in them so far, but they're not good on anything technical for me. My foot sits pretty good inside the foam, but the narrow mid and heel still make them really unstable if I don't land on the forefoot. The Pumas don't seem to have this problem even if its narrower in the front and my feet don't sit so much inside the foam. But they feel more close to the ground than Adidas. I think Pumas may be more versatile for shorter runs. As for fast, all three feel very fast to me.

I also grabbed some of these on sale a couple months ago. I have zero problem with stability or control on very technical terrain (Northeast US rocks, roots, and boulders), so I imagine your response to that will be related to your comfort on that terrain. It's a very responsive shoe and I really love it for tempo runs. I require a good amount of room in my shoe (my daily drivers are Topos) and this fit me quite well. I do agree that the rubber is not good at all, and I only take them out on dry days, because I had moments where I slid backward while running UP wet slab, which I don't think I've experienced in any other shoe.

I have the Saucony Endorphin Edge, the Nike Ultrafly, the Adidas Speed Ultra, S/Lab Genesis, S/Lab Pulsar, Hoka Tecton X1 et X3, etc. I have over 60 shoes, trail and road. Each of these super shoes is very different ... For 12km technical races, I've been using **Pulsar SG** for the past few years because it's the lightest + most nimble + deeper lugs. But it's not the most versatile imho, it's quite narrow and I would not run longer distances. I would say my top 3 so far : 1- Tecton X3 : first pick for training and for races over 25km, if it's not too technical 2- Endorphin Edge : first pick for less than 25km, if it's not too technical 3- Nike Ultrafly : first pick for soft midsole, training any distance I'm not sure what I would use for a technical 12km+ race. Maybe S/Lab Genesis but I've not tested enough. Regarding, Adidas Speed Ultra, it's a very narrow shoe, not a fan so far. Tecton X1 is fine for training. I tried Norda 001 but returned it, I was not really impressed for the price. I will probably try Norda 005.

I got a pair cheap. Upper is a little loose and sloppy. Great tread when dry, felt light and responsive. I run my shorter hill workouts in them and find them fun on technical terrain. Once I switched to a heel lock lacing I had less trouble with stability. But if you're prone to ankle roles it's a moderate risk - not the worst I've ever run in, but not the best either. Wet grip sucks, I didn't have trouble on most rocks but logs were treacherous. Drainage wasn't great either. They feel fast and make a good trail work out shoe. A little firmer than I'd like. It's probably not enough shoe for me for long runs. I might be able to run a 50k in them, but I'm not sure I'd enjoy the last 15km. So far they've been very durable. I don't regret my purchase.

I think it also depends on the geometry. Tecton X2, X3, Fujispeed 2, Fujitrabuco Max 3, Endorphin Edge or Metafuji all have carbon plates but they don’t feel as propulsive as most road super shoes I’ve ran in (certainly not as many! Endorphin Pro, Endorphin Speed and Metaspeed Sky). In fact, Asics shoes are probably the least carbon-plate-feeling shoe, and not in a bad way. The Terrex ASU is the only exception.

I ran 146.9mi in 24hrs. First 50 miles in Endorphin Edge, then swapped into Xodus Ultra for more comfort. Should have done the whole thing in them, in retrospect. If I was to do it again, I may consider Metafuji or Tecton X2/3, depending on the terrain.

That's normal for Saucony. The edge model is especially prone to tear and wear, moreso than the Peregrine. Sand and rocks tend to inflict more wear on them, especially if you're running on gradient. That being said, the Rift (the one without the plate) is super bouncy and responsive, feels like using a super shoe on trails. I would have no regrets if i bought and used them. Grip wise, prior to partial wear of, they work really well like vibram soles except on sandy ground and worst of all on wet rocks and moss (seriously my confidence level drops to 0 every time i encounter wet rocks wearing any Saucony models) They're worth it if discounted imo, but not at retail price.

I love the sole, the cushion, and the spring from the plate+PEBA, but I hate the upper. Fit around my foot is terrible, somehow the laces get too tight and digging in to my foot whilst the upper is also too loose all at the same time. The toe box is roomy width wise, but I have major problems with my foot sliding forward and impacting my toes on the end of the shoes, and that's after sizing up half a size. Because of the toe problem and the issue with the tight-yet-also-loose fit of the upper, I can't wear them on anything with steep descending. As a flat gravel runner though they're fine for me I can't really comment too much on the grip, because again I can't even wear them on loose terrain or descents.

I have done multiple races 100k and over with the Endorphin Edge, including 100 milers with technical terrain, 20k+ vert and no shoe changes. No issues. They do have less cushion than the Xodus, so if you have had issues with sore feet in 100’s, consider having the Xodus to change into at a crew stop or in a drop bag.

I’m so pleased to read such positive reviews of the Edge. I absolutely love mine but have not done any long runs in them. I’m considering using them for my first 50k, Black Canyon. On training shorter runs I find myself cruising at a much faster clip than I realize all while feeling like I’m taking it easy. I’m often surprised with my higher than expected paces when wearing these shoes.

Unlike most people, I have few complaints on technical terrain and have raced in them on some very technical courses, but the wet grip is quite poor. Probably one of the worst I've experienced, and I'd guess that was due to the stiffness since the lugs seem similar to other sauconys I've run in over the years. I've got a technical 100 coming up next year and will likely use them again if it's dry, but will resort to a non plated shoe if it's wet. I'd buy them again at a heavy discount, but not sure I'd say it's worth it at retail.

Always take reviews with a grain of salt. Your Saucony Edge look fine. Yes the outsole durability is not great, but you still have an another 500km of wear to go before they are dead. The Edge outsole was an outlier in durability.  Any other shoe will probably be better.  At the same time, run 300km over granite in ANY shoe and it will show a lot of wear.  Honestly, the Peregrine is probably a great pick because of the depth of tread, and because the rubber is harder and less sticky.  Less sticky is usually good for durability, but less desirable for situations where trails get vertical and you grip becomes critical.

I’ve been racing (50K distance) in the Endorphin Edge. My thoughts are mostly postive. Could definitely be built tougher, but I think that’s the payoff for light and performing long distances.  I love them so much I’ve scoured the internets stock in my size, as they’ve discontinued the design.  I’m going to give the Peregrine a go in training. I feel as far as competitions are concerned, they fair better than some Adidas designs lately in terms of durability, and performance life is comparable to Nike’s trail offerings.

I will be burning mine as soon as my ankle heals. Got these on sale a while back. Have put over a thousand combined miles on several different trail shoes over past couple of years. Until today, have only tweaked ankles twice. Both times in these shoes and were relatively minor injuries. Figured it was something other than the shoes, i.e. bad luck. Still waiting for MRI at the moment, but today I most likely ended up with a grade 3 sprain / complete tear. So in summary, shoes other than endorphins edge = 1000+ miles and no injury. Endorphin edges = 39.83 miles with two ankle tweaks/minor sprains and one complete disaster. At least it wasn't broken.

Hello there. I have around 500miles in my pair and they are now beginning to bottom out. They are great for me because of the toe box volume, i have not found anything close to the room even my Altras. The foam and the carbon plate are what you would expect and give good levels of energy return but and its a big but, for me they are not a technical trail shoe. Even on moderate local UK trails the stability is not good. I did a day of running in Chamonix this year in them and turned my ankle a number of times. Grip in the wet rock is questionable but the lugs are pretty good. That said i have also just bought another pair. They are great for road to trail and I will use them for my hill repeat days as well as some speed work in the woods and I am going to say it again, the toe box volume is amazing. Apparently they are not going to bring a newer version out. Just my take, enjoy the shoe.

The Saucony Xodus has a pretty high stack, and the PWRRUN PB is definitely a super foam. Version 4 is set to release in a couple of months with significant upgrades over the previous model—most notably, a Vibram outsole ([Saucony Xodus Ultra 4 First Look](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=klJoS7fwkJk)) Personally, I’m planning to grab a pair as soon as they drop and use them for all my summer 25 races. My Merrell Agility Peak 5s from last summer have flattened out, so it’s time for an upgrade!
