They're definitely more like a trailised Ride 15 than a shoe designed from the ground up for trails like the Xodus Ultra. I do like them for winter road runs though.
r/trailrunning • Saucony trail line review ->So 2024 has ended and I've been training an racing with several trail shoes from Saucony. I am aware that the shoes I've been using are older models, but here are my thoughts: Saucony ride 15 tr. Great door to trail shoe. Use: daily trainer, road, gravel, ligth trails. Pros: very comfortable, durable, lightweight, and a great option for road and easy trails. Cons: not the best lockdown when things get a bit rough (steep, rooty, rocky). Over 913 km from January this year, plus some more km hiking (probably over 1000 km), and still comfortable to run some more. Saucony peregrine 13. Very good on rocky, technical terrain. Use: any trail up to marathon distance. Pros: ligth, very good traction, great stability, superb fit and lockdown, great protection thanks to the rockplate and upper overlays, great midsole for trail running that is also durable. Cons: toe box could be a bit wider for longer distances, outsole does not perform well on wet rock, and the exposed midsole on the heel area is a problem because any sharp rock can split the midsole in two very easily. I was aware of this problem before buying the peregrines but they were on sale. After 150 km both shoes started to split from this area. I had to fix it by applying contact glue, and I ended up "filling" this space with glue to level it to the rest of the outsole. The outsole also has some cutouts to show the rockplate that are likely to peel off very easily on rough terrain. The heel repair is holding up quite well though. Over 401 km from December last year. Saucony Xodus Ultra 2. I bought them for an ultra because I was not sure about the peregrines cushion-wise and since the heel started to split in both shoes. Use: any trail, specially if it's above marathon distance. Pros: very good cushioning that is also fun to run in, well structured and protected, not as stable as the peregrines but good enough for rough trails, roomy toe box for ultras, good traction. Cons: the upper, while good and comfortable, is a bit too complicated (two layers, an elastic lace cover). The outsole does not perform well on wet rock and it has several cutouts which are likely the spots where the outsole will start to peel off from. Over 250 km from june this year.
r/trailrunning • Saucony trail line review ->Saucony Ride TR is an excellent hybrid model.
r/ultrarunning • Shoes for combined trail and road ->Which model are you asking about, exactly? I have run something like 1,000mi (and up to 50K / 6hrs at once) in two pairs of the Saucony Ride 15 TR model. That's the one that I can recommend 100% for hybrid terrain, up to a certain degree of wetness (the lugs won't suffice when the terrain becomes too muddy).
r/ultrarunning • Shoes for combined trail and road ->I bought the Ride 15 TR last spring and I really hoped they would keep the promises that, on paper, seemed to be able to meet all my wishes. I believe that out of the dozen or so trail shoes I've tried in recent years, they are among those with the most ridiculously narrow and unyielding toebox, along with a few others (Salomon, I'm looking at you). It's really a shame because the build quality seemed to be 100% there and the cushioning density seemed to be exactly what I was looking for.
r/trailrunning • Saucony trail line review ->You’re right. I have xodus 4 and peregrine. If only they puts Vibram into peregrine will be a great shoes. Ride TR is a door to trail shoes..
r/trailrunning • What's going on with Saucony trail lineup ? ->If you're running mostly road, I'd lean more to a road trainer - something with a moderate (or lower) stack height for stability on the trails. Especially during the summer, a lot of mid level trainers (Nike Pegs, Saucony Rides, NB Rebels, etc) should be fine on most trails and will better serve you on a majority of your runs.
r/trailrunning • Hybrid running shoe ->I share your love of the endorphin edge, but it’s not coming back sadly. Ride Tr, Guide Tr, Xodus and peregrine are all you’re getting from saucony as far as trail shoes go. They’re trying to pare down their lineup as they feel it’s been too saturated with different models.
r/trailrunning • What's going on with Saucony trail lineup ? ->I quite enjoy Saucony Ride TR, but even regular Rides are fine. Asics Fujitrabuco max are nice too.

r/trailrunning • Lightweight trail shoe that also doubles as a road runner? ->I love Ride TR. They’re an amazing daily trainer on road to trail, or gravel days. Wear amazingly well, I get 700-1000+km with the Rides and Ride TR is currently at 445km with visibly no wear. Endorphin Edge weren’t that great imho, I guess it depends on what you like but they were a bit worse than the competition in longer races with plusher foam, and they weren’t that fast for shorter stuff. Xodus Ultra were amazing, I went through five pairs of gen1 but haven’t tried others. Saucony do tend to tinker with their shoes a bit too much in my mind, and I think that puts me off. Kinvara, Ride and Xodus were all very different shoes compared to the current iterations - so why reuse the name? ISO structure was also a bit meh, they could have just changed the name instead of dropping ISO from the name.
r/trailrunning • What's going on with Saucony trail lineup ? ->Altra Outroad is specifically designed for this type of running if you can tolerate the zero drop. If you need some drop, check out Brooks Divide, Hoka Challenger, and Solomon Sense Ride. Others have mentioned the Pegs and Saucony Rides. I've run in Hoka and Saucony and loved both for their versatility. Great for running in sloppy conditions in the fall and winter.
