(I run for them, disclaimer) SpeedLand GL:SVT. I live near Banff in the Canadian Rockies and take them into the alpine 2-3x a week. Built in gaiter, great tread, carbon plate acts as a rock plate, boa system lacing. I’ve worn then with crampons and have done everything from 40 mile days to low grade soloing in them. Big fan.
Availability. Not much people wear shoes they can't try on. Im a big fan of the skechers performance line and I tell everyone about them but it makes it harder when its just word of mouth. I use speedlands on trails and even for me it was hard justifying buying something you may not like. I almost guarantee if you had shoes available at more running shops or retailers you'd be able to get more people into them. Plus most shops only recommend what they carry.
I rolled my ankles about every 6 months in speedgoats then switched to speedland and haven't rolled an ankle in 2 years. They also last longer and I will never wear a shoe without boa again.
Speedland, the only shoe I will wear on trail.
Since you’re willing to spend some money, you should look into Speedland. Superior durability.
Oh yeah, bummer. Get a stateside friend to send some!
Speedland are the super supers.
Speedland, all day every day.
Speedland. They’re expensive but they last for a long long time.
Speedland shoes, Path Projects & Roark clothing
I’ve been using Speedland shoes for over a year. Changed the game for me and I’ll probably never go back to “big box” shoes
Said it before and I’ll say it again. Speedland shoes are unreal. Wide toe box, cushy, great traction and will outlast just about any other shoe I’ve ever ran in. Worth every penny!
I don’t think Speedland is any more durable than Nnormal or Norda. They are all durable, but I would rank them from most to least durable: Norda, Nnormal, Speedland. I have had all three. Speedlands grip is very poor compared to Norda and Nnormal.
Only Speedland for this guy
Speedland if you can swing the price. I’m at 500 miles in mine and still feel fresh…unusually rotate shoes at 300-350. I’ve done a 50k, a 50 miler and a 100k in them
I’ve personally found that a wide toe box is a greater advantage for me over everything else on trail. I’ve worn Altra, Hoka, Norda, and Speedland over the last 10 years of ultra racing and training. Wide toe box + BOA system is my holy grail and I’m currently in Speedland’s after coming over from the Altra Mont Blanc BOA. I tightened up my stride in zero drop over time and has been good for trail cadence and nimbleness whether I’m in a zero drop or drop shoe.
