Speedland. I have hobbit feet, and despite initial sticker shock, I’ve never had shoes that fit my feet so well. Worn for everything from short jogs to a 200 miler with great results. Not the most responsive, but they get the job done well and do it without ruining your wide ass feet.

6’4” and 204 here. Depending on what size you need, check out Speedlands. Expensive, yes, but last way longer than Hokas so probably a wash in terms of cost.

I am in the exact same situation and have been testing quite a few shoes. Should condition be dry I will probably go with Tecton x3. If conditions are wet I will probably go with Speedland GS TMT. For the drop bag it will probably be Prodigio Pro or Trailtalon Max. But I am not decided yet and all advice is welcome 🙏

I am still breaking them in. First run was not that great as one of the boas pressed on my foot. But it seems like they are wrapping themselves around my feet and now I have hope for them.

The Prodigio Pro would also be my take on such a shoe. If the technical part of the race is short then I would go for Tecton x3 as they just fly over the less technical part of the trails. If you need wide cloud like comfort then SpeedLand GS TMT is nice. It is better at technical trails than the Tecton x3 but not feeling as fast as the two other shoes.

I actually tried speedlands. They just didn’t work for me. For that price I wanted them to be the best shoes I’ve ever owned and they just felt awkward. Would love to give nordas a try one of these days but I’m a bigger guy and prefer a little more stack height.

I actually found the speedland boa's to be uncomfortable. They were either too loose or they were painful when tight. Boa's are fancy but i honestly prefer laces, you can "dial" in the fit much better (pun not intended but i'm keeping it).

I have the widest flattest feet, I couldn’t stand Hokas and have been using Altra Lone Peaks’s for the longest however about 6 mos ago I switched to Speedland shoes. They’re spendy but I don’t think I can ever go back, they are the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever run in. The Boa system is awesome. Here’s the model I’m running in now: https://www.runspeedland.com/products/gs-tmt-copy

I’ll spend some money on shoes, but these seem excessive. They apparently last a long time, but at full double the price of some other great shoes, what’s the point? Not really saving money. I have Speedlands, so I will pay for quality, but Speedlands last a long time AND have Boa technology, which I believe is worth a lot. And there’s always a Freetrail discount code active for Speedlands. I also think some Nordas look like they came from Payless 😂

Since you’re willing to spend some money, you should look into Speedland. Superior durability.
