"The Boa system is awesome."

"I’ve personally found that a wide toe box is a greater advantage for me over everything else on trail. ... Wide toe box + BOA system is my holy grail"
"I have the widest flattest feet, I couldn’t stand Hokas and have been using Altra Lone Peaks’s for the longest however about 6 mos ago I switched to Speedland shoes. They’re spendy but I don’t think I can ever go back, they are the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever run in."

"I’m at 500 miles in mine and still feel fresh…unusually rotate shoes at 300-350."
"Superior durability."
"My last pair of Speedlands lasted me over 1000 miles. ... While it can be expensive up front it saved me money in the end as it lasted at least 2.5x longer than a $150 pair would."

Speedland: GS: TMT for long trail runs (50 miles) Speedland: GL: PDX, medium distance trail runs (150 miles, 2nd pair) Lone Peak 8s: Daily runner, mixed road & trail (225 miles, probably owned like 30+ LPs) I need to add a dedicated road shoe for days that I don't make it to one of the local parks. Speedlands are a bit pricey but I've really been enjoying them so far. I rarely ever changed the tension on my laces midrun with traditional laces but being able to quickly tighten them up for technical downhills or loosen them for climbs has been nice. I got on the Lone Peak band wagon around version 3 and have always been happy enough with them although I generally get some pain in the sole of my foot if going 20+ miles in them.
I am in the exact same situation and have been testing quite a few shoes. Should condition be dry I will probably go with Tecton x3. If conditions are wet I will probably go with Speedland GS TMT. For the drop bag it will probably be Prodigio Pro or Trailtalon Max. But I am not decided yet and all advice is welcome 🙏
I am still breaking them in. First run was not that great as one of the boas pressed on my foot. But it seems like they are wrapping themselves around my feet and now I have hope for them.
The Prodigio Pro would also be my take on such a shoe. If the technical part of the race is short then I would go for Tecton x3 as they just fly over the less technical part of the trails. If you need wide cloud like comfort then SpeedLand GS TMT is nice. It is better at technical trails than the Tecton x3 but not feeling as fast as the two other shoes.
I am glad to have found this thread as it makes me feel slightly more normal 🙃 I have runned in 13 pairs where two of them are Tecton x3. I will even start up an additional pair of Tectons on Sunday. Fair to say they are my favorites for long trail runs. On the road my favorites are New Balance SuperComps. Trainer for long runs and Elite up to half marathon. I have also tried Spedlands but the GS TMT. One of the boas rub on my foot and the carbon fiber inlay feels more like an unnecessary rock plate. But it is a very well built shoe. I am doing Arc 100 in January and have been testing shoes with bigger lugs. The Speedlands was one such shoes but I also tested Inov8 TrailTalon both the regular and the max. They are fine but the midsole is dull. So if the weather is not too wet I will pair my Tecton with the wonderful Prodigio Pros.

How are you getting on with the GS:TMT? I love Speedland but they seem to make unnecessary changes with each GS commission.
Availability. Not much people wear shoes they can't try on. Im a big fan of the skechers performance line and I tell everyone about them but it makes it harder when its just word of mouth. I use speedlands on trails and even for me it was hard justifying buying something you may not like. I almost guarantee if you had shoes available at more running shops or retailers you'd be able to get more people into them. Plus most shops only recommend what they carry.
Speedland shoes, Path Projects & Roark clothing
I’ve been using Speedland shoes for over a year. Changed the game for me and I’ll probably never go back to “big box” shoes
Speedland GS. Worth every penny
Said it before and I’ll say it again. Speedland shoes are unreal. Wide toe box, cushy, great traction and will outlast just about any other shoe I’ve ever ran in. Worth every penny!
Speedland GS. My go to winter shoe for the past two seasons, unreal traction and durability
Came here to say this! The Speedland GS are unreal. People are scared of the price tag but they will feel like new after 500+ miles
No one is going to take my recommendation seriously based on their price point. But the Speedland GS series has been my go-to for high volume running. I got 850 miles out of my first pair before the tread was completely gone. If it hadn’t of been for the tread, they still had plenty of miles of comfortable running in them. I’m on my 2nd pair of GS and they are at 387 miles and still going strong.
Yep most overrated shoe on the market along with hoka speedboats
My last pair of Speedlands lasted me over 1000 miles. While it can be expensive up front it saved me money in the end as it lasted at least 2.5x longer than a $150 pair would.
Since you’re willing to spend some money, you should look into Speedland. Superior durability.
Oh yeah, bummer. Get a stateside friend to send some!
