We got Egg 3 pram/buggy and used the car seat attachment absolutely loads when baby was small. It was really handy if taking a quick trip in car to shop etc, just lift baby out and go. Our car seat also rotated out to face us so very handy. We got a BeSafe GoBeyond which fit the Egg adapters. It extended out to allow baby to be a bit flatter when in it. If you aren’t going to be in and out of the car much, then you won’t have much need for it. We’ve just upgraded to Joie 360spin car seat which is also great and goes up to 4y.
For car seats, while basically all infant carrier are safe in crash tests because they all have the same basic concept, not all are supportive for newborns and especially tiny and premature babies. They can put babies in a chin to chest position which can restrict my their airways. And some seats have really bulky inserts which fit a newborn well but have an awkward transitional stage where they’ve outgrown the inserts but don’t fit properly in the seats. Some of the more supportive ones are Avionaut Pixel/Cosmo; BeSafe Go Beyond; Britax BabySafe; Maxi-Cosi Cabriofix; Cybex Cloud Z. You can sometimes get these seats in bundles.
The best infant car seats are the Avionaut Pixel Pro or Cosmo, or the BeSafe Go Beyond. All are reallly supportive and ergonomic from the smallest babies and are attached to almost all travel systems to. The Avionaut ones are really lightweight. The BeSafe Beyond second stage seat for the base has the highest weight limit for a rotating car seat on the market and should get all but the heaviest of children to a safe booster seat age, which is why we chose that and we loved the infant carrier. It’s one of the best baby purchases I’ve made and id recommend to anyone. Just a note on a lot of car seats which market themselves as newborn suitable (like theJoie Spin ones), newborns rarely get a good fit, so if you do want to go down the fixed seat route, you might want a cheaper infant carrier (like the Britax Baby Safe) to tide you until you get a good fit in the bigger seat.
Hi. We didn’t go with a compatible car seat and have no regrets. It is a bit bulkier and heavier to travel with the carrycot part but we didn’t want to be restricted by the length of time they’re supposed to be in it. I think there’s only one study that the NHS uses to recommend 30 mins but we decided to stick to it. Paranoid FTP’s! We bought a second hand silver cross travel system but went with the BeSafe Go Beyond. I doubt it’d make a huge difference to them in the long run but we chose that option over convenience (only mild cursing lifting it in and out the boot 😂)
We are on our 2nd BeSafe. It is from Denmark and I cannot find details regarding manufacturing country, so I am hoping for the best 🤞🏻
