BeSafe Stretch. It can be used rear facing from 6 months or 61cm to 125cm and 36kg so until the kid is 6-7 yrs old. It can be declined to multiple positions, enough for a 6 months old to sit comfortably. Superior in terms of safety (passed Swedish Plus test). Or if you need one with isofix, theres Axkid One.
The Besafe Stretch is excellent for extended rear facing. The Joie ispin is great and very handy but only goes up to 18kg
We have the Besafe 360, it is very expensive with the base as I think we paid around £540. The seat is large due to the spinning facility, which I love and we do have an estate car so the fit isn’t an issue for us. We went to Cardiff to try out a few with a specialist seller (Kids on Board) and I didn’t like the Axkid One3- it was huge and the recline function was a bit cumbersome. The other car seat we tried was the Axkid mini-kid but didn’t like it and I can’t recall why- I think it doesn’t recline! I was told the Besafe Stretch is also huge so we ruled that one out from the get go.
We have an Axkid Minikid and really like it, the Avionauts are also great. Or if you have a big car, the BeSafe stretch is very long lasting and has lots of recline options - it is bulky though!
We have Besafe stretch, which we really like, my parents have an axkid mini kid which is good too and my in laws have a britax max way which is fine. All extended rear facing, wouldn’t pick something which isn’t. We did use a joie ispin 360 for when she was 2-4 but meant we had to buy new seats when she turned 4 so buying an ERF one at 2 would be a better financial move.
Sorry to jump on this, and if you’re joining the FB group suggested maybe you’ll have the advice anyway, but a lot people find the Maxi Cosi inserts especially for the next stage seats aren’t the most supportive and the shell is very short so it’s often outgrown really quickly relative to other seats so it might not last until a safe booster age. If you want a modular system we have the BeSafe Beyond system which has been amazing and the toddler seat lasts up until 125cm rather than 105cm which will be a big difference for my tall child. If your baby is likely to be lower centiles the Cybex Cloud/ Sirona will be more supportive for a modular system. But often, the toddler seats which fit into the newborn base are aren’t any cheaper than buying an isofix seat whose base is attached. I saw in another comment that you said you were considering weight as a factor for the infant carrier, and if you are then one of the Avionaut infant carriers would be great. They are both incredibly supportive, the Pixel is more expensive and is lighter and offers the best newborn positioning on the market, and the Cosmo is cheaper, and still fantastic positioning for newborn and beyond and lightweight. Neither lay flat but they don’t need to because the inserts are so supportive then keep the chin off the chest easily even in the baby is tiny. And in a crash it’s safer for the baby to be in a more insight position than a reclined one.
A handful of time, but could have lived without it. One thing I’d be careful with over seats which say they grow with the baby is they often provide a poor fit for newborns despite saying on the box they’re ok. There are a few suitable seats which are supportive enough: If your baby is likely to be smaller centiles these would probably get them to a safe booster seat age: * Axkid Spinkid * Besafe izi Twist/Turn B If your baby is likely to be bigger/taller then I’d look at these * Avionaut Stardust * Avionaut Sky * Axkid One + * Besafe Stetch B
We got a BeSafe Stretch when our little one outgrew his first car seat around 8/9 months. He’s a tall guy so it’ll last him well, and it’s really well rated. Beware though, it’s massive! No one above 5 foot 3 could sit in the front seat of our hatchback with it installed behind (we now have an estate for this reason).
