I always got all of my car seat recommendations from the website Car Seats for the Littles (csftl.org). If you do a google search for “car seats for the littles travel”, you’ll find the ones they recommend. We got an inflatable BubbleBum travel booster for our kids when they were younger based on CSFTL’s recommendation, but that recommendation is based on size and age, and our kids are both tall for their age.

We always take inflatable bubblebum boosters. They’re technically only suitable from 4 but if your 3yo is close to 4 / tall / heavy / sensible then they’d probably be fine on it.

We used an inflatable booster for our oldest when we went to a wedding that was at a remote site where everyone parked in a big lot and took a 16 passenger van/ mini bus to a beautiful spot in the desert. If one or both of your kids meet the specifications for a "BubbleBum," it's a good option.

I don’t know the age of your child, but these bubble bum boosters are great. They are inflatable. I have traveled with them in the past. https://bubblebum.co/?srsltid=AfmBOoojj2rkI_zJ3IQMis4reRMOssFHKCzvpMcBKTsRbt6J85Tiui7Z

If it's 70£ to hire just buy cheap ones like [this](https://www.argos.co.uk/product/9020706) or the inflatable bubblebum for the older (it's crash tested as equally safe as other boosters without backs, it broadly brings the seatbelts position into the right place more than raising the kid up...I was genuinely surprised by how much I liked it). And [this ](https://www.argos.co.uk/product/7713785?_gl=1*1exam2s*_up*MQ..*_gs*MQ..&gclid=Cj0KCQjw4a3OBhCHARIsAChaqJP3dAF8yQ0Hmo1BLNSlHh0sDMu9rG5_skR3Oo2yXQ8_yaG7pYwFCL4aAtb-EALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds) for the younger... For £140 I'd look to take car seats if your hiring a car and just buy cheap but safe. Edited to add bubblebum now have two - I have this for my 7 year old. Not an everyday seat, but for when we have guests I pop her in the middle seat on it, otherwise she's in a high back booster. It's also what I sent her with in friends cars as it's much less bulky than a regular seat. The seatbelt sits well across hips and it has a shoulder guide. https://bubblebum.co/en-gb/products/bubblebum-inflatable-car-booster-seat-travel-car-seat-black But they also have this [link](https://bubblebum.co/en-gb/collections/uk-customers/products/bubblebum-teleport-backless-booster-car-seat) which is a bit more robust, but also bigger. Again only suitable for older.

Assuming 7yo is in a backless booster- when my kids were that age and we'd vacation we used super compact (but still certified obv) contraptions in lieu of their regular seats. RideSafer Vest for the 3yo and a BubbleBum inflatable booster for the older. We kept them in the trunk when not on vacation in case any friends or cousins the same age needed an unplanned pickup. We didn't use it bc it wasn't as comfortable, but my MIL had a foldable MiFold booster as an option as well. If still in a highback or harness the RideSafer Vest comes in larger sizes, too! Fold up, stick them in your carryon bag when done. Easy peasy.

How old is your kiddo? We have just about every version of travel car seats bc we do long haul travel a lot.  For the 0-3 crowd, the Cosco Scenera is perfect. Cheap, light, straps easily to a travel stroller using a luggage strap, so you just strap it on and strap your kiddo in, for getting around the airport. Also cheap enough to be left behind if you only need it in one direction.  For the 2-5 crowd, the WayB Pico (FF only) is really nice. Also light, though you’ll want the backpack that’s another $80+ to store it if you’re going through airports. Kind of a B to install, but really compact and nice.  For the 4+ crowd (we started at 3.5,which is a bit young tbh), the Ride Safer Travel Vest is amazing. They wear it and you clip the seatbelt into it. It also has an optional top tether just like a FF seat’s top tether, for an added layer of security.  For the 6+ crowd, the bubble bum inflatable bum booster is great.

We have a Cosco Finale. It's super light (like, easily heft it with one hand; we sling them over a shoulder if need be, but typically check them for free with the airline when we fly so as not to bother) and affordable, with a 5 point harness up to 65 lbs and then can convert to a backless booster (up to 100 lbs). Might not work for a plane, but we feel comfortable with our kid using the regular lap belt now (thought I've looked into the CARES harnesses). We do also have a Bubble Bum seat, but we prefer the Finale.
