Seconding this. I had a MyFit also and it's like 3 times heavier than a KidFit. We were happy with the MyFit in harness mode but when we converted it to high back booster, it's significantly harder for my kids to buckle compared to the KidFit. At this age, I would recommend the KidFit (if your kiddo was 3-4 then I would recommend the MyFit)
r/kindergarten • Car seat recommendation ->I just bought the Chicco Kid Fit booster seat (no affiliation) for my daughter who is almost 6 and we love it. The back is removable so she can use it for even longer. And it was only $100. (Way cheaper than her other car seat. But to answer your question, yes your child should still be in a car seat/booster seat probably for much longer than they actually will be. So many parents do away with the car seat because they either think it’s for babies or because their kids think they are for babies and don’t want to be seen in a car seat. But none of that really matters when your child is getting strangled by a seat belt in a car accident. Aside from the obvious safety reasons, a booster seat allows your child to see better out the window, they’re positioned better for side impact airbags, many have cup holders your child can actually reach, you and your child can see each other better in the mirror, etc. a booster seat is just an all around great choice, and for a kindergartener one with a removable back is ideal.
r/kindergarten • Car seats? ->My son was getting near the height and weight limits and it was getting really hard to reach the crotch buckle, otherwise I would have kept him in the 5 point. He is now in the Chicco high back booster and it actually fits him very securely.
r/kindergarten • Car seats? ->Absolutely agree. Used a car seat from day 2 for my kid straight out of hospital. Moved from carrying infant seat from Chiccco to convertible seat from Gracco and now finally on a Chicco booster seat now that he’s 9. The recommendation is to use a car seat till 10. And for heaven’s sake even if you don’t use a car seat, make the kids seat in the rear seat not front seat.
