more expensive does nooot mean safer! you can search “(car seat name) safety rating” & find results i personally like a convertible seat & just using bassinet on a stroller or wearing baby in a wrap/carrier because infant seats only last until around age 1. convertible car seats last until they’re in a booster (8yo ish depending on weight & height) here’s a bunch you can look into because there are tons of options out there my favorite infant seats in cheapest to most expensive order all in usd joie rue $169.99 graco snugride snugfit dlx $239.99 graco gomax $249.99 joie mint latch $299.99 top favorite - chicco keyfit max zip cleartex $299.99 uppababy mess v3 $349.99 britax cypress w/ alpine base $379.99 nuna pipa aire rx + relx base $650 for convertible seats i personally don’t like any rotating seat because they all have low rearfacing limits & extended rearfacing is absolutely the safest thing you can do. one of the only things you can control as a parent safety wise. most of these also can be used for a newborn 50lb rearfacing limit ⬇️ graco extend 2 fit 3 in 1 $269.99 graco 4ever extend2fit $379.99 britax one4life $439.99 britax poplar s $399.99 nuna rava next $580 under 50lb rearfacing limit ⬇️ joie saffron si 4 in 1 $249.99 graco 4ever dlx $319.99 chicco one fit max $379.99

Existing backpack until you know what you want out of a diaper bag. Chicco carseat Consistently great consumer report and safety ratings, great materials, great comfort, multiple 360 options (i don't have a 360 one so I can't speak to that but I have their keyfit 35 and just ordered a onefit max). I can say that unless you live in a spot with horrendous sidewalks, tons of gravel, are an intense runner, or plan to do lots of off roading with a stroller, the guava roam is unnecessary. I still love it, our sidewalks and roads are super crappy and i like beingnot on pavenmemt and its sooooo easy to maneuver, but I would have gotten a stroller with a bassinet attachment or full lay flat option if I could do it over again. Bassinet attachment would have saved my sanity in the first several months. I couldn't go on longer stroller walks because I didnt want my newborn in her carseat (with attachment for stroller) for too long. Serious cabin fever for a bit.

Just a heads up the keyfit 35 does not meet the new 213a standards (side impact) they just released Jan 1, and that they have to meet by the end of this year, so chicco will likely make new ones, ie the new chicco key fit max that was released. Its annoying, as we have a chicco key fit 35 and LOVE IT. We got the primo stroller combo and its just SO EASY. My son is 8 months old (20lbs, 27.5 inches) and we planned to use it until 32 inch or 35lbs, but our cat peed in the car seat last week and we couldn't get the urine smell out (ammonia not safe for babies and not allowed to soak the harness or use enzyme on the car seat), and this is how I found out it didnt meet the new standards. So we just upgraded early to save money and got a chicco onefit max cleartex and love this one as well! We were going to get a chicco nextfit, but it doesnt meet 213a guidelines and we cant really wait for a new one to come out that does. I dont know when youre due, but chicco will likely make a new 35lb one that meets standards, and you could wait for that allowing for more time with the bucket seat. But that being said, it still meets old safety standards, as in a few weeks ago, so its like still very safe. Edit: spelling

I had the Maxi Cosi Zelia Max 2 system for my daughter until she sized out the car seat. The stroller lasted her up until about 3 before her height was a problem. There was a recall on it and they sent the replacement base free of charge, but I believe they are now onto the next system. Ours was on sale from Dillards, I believe, so if its of interest amd you look around for local stores and sales you might be able to get a good after Holiday price. For my current pregnancy we will probably go for Maxi Cosi again, or Chicco, as her first "big kid" car seat was Chicco Oke Fit and it was also good quality.

I see a lot of people saying Evenflo and that’s actually what prompted me to go for one with my first baby but let me tell you, I hated it!! It was very difficult to install but more importantly it was very difficult to tighten the straps! So getting baby in and out was difficult for me. I hated it so much that I bought a new Chico one for my second baby. Also we bought the evenflo convertible car seat for my husband’s car and I literally cannot tighten it. Plus it shifts around a lot! I got a Graco 4 in 1 convertible one for my car when my first outgrew the infant one and I love it. I will never buy evenflo again. I don’t mean to insult anyone who loves their evenflo, but it didn’t work for me, and I would be concerned about a grandma being able the tighten the straps securely.

Absolutely agree. Used a car seat from day 2 for my kid straight out of hospital. Moved from carrying infant seat from Chiccco to convertible seat from Gracco and now finally on a Chicco booster seat now that he’s 9. The recommendation is to use a car seat till 10. And for heaven’s sake even if you don’t use a car seat, make the kids seat in the rear seat not front seat.

We have a Chicco Keyfit 35. They don’t sell the 35 anymore but they sell the Max which is essentially the same

The Chicco is cool also because you can remove the seat and buy two bases moving just the seat back and forth. I don’t think any of the other brands do that. It’s a convertible that goes all the way up to like 65lbs and like 40 something inches. This could be the last one you buy. My wife got the Nuna rotating ones and the weight cut off is like 45 lbs. unfortunately we’re going to have to buy new car seats later.
