We went with the Clek Liing because of safety and versatility with many strollers. My second choice was going to be the chico key fit

We loved the Cruz V2! We used it with the Clek Liing car seat and it worked out great. We just had to buy the separate adapters but chose it over the Mesa because I kept reading that seat gets outgrown early. I also just got a cheap Uppababy bassinet off marketplace and we mainly used that for the newborn period. The car seat compatibility and ability to transfer baby to stroller sounds great until you have a baby that never sleeps in the car anyways 🙃 So we ended up using the bassinet quite a bit in the beginning as it was more comfortable for baby than the car seat. We did travel with it quite a bit and it was never an issue for airlines or anything :)

I live downtown and have the a Uppababy Cruz as well and I definitely recommend it. It’s easy to fold, navigates the streets well and I’ve never had issues getting into stores. The only thing I haven’t done with it is take it on the street car (pre-baby I took the streetcar daily, now I always either walk or drive). Two considerations for you… Bassinet - I purchased the Uppababy bassinet separately because it doesn’t come included with the Cruz and my baby ended up hating the bassinet. We ended up purchasing the Uppababy infant snug seat which you can put in the stroller seat (fully reclined) and my baby preferred that SO much more. So you could look into doing that as well which would save you a little $. Car seat - we tested the Uppababy Mesa car seat in our car and it didn’t fit well. I also heard most babies outgrow it by height earlier than other seats. We ended up getting the Clek Liing car seat with adapters so it can still click onto the stroller easily. I would recommend you to go SnuggleBugz or West Coast Kids and test the car seats in your car to see what fits best. Hope this helps!

I got the Bugaboo Fox 5 Renew and plan to get the Clek Liing car seat (it is compatible with the Bugaboo!). We live in a city with very uneven cobblestone sidewalks, so a stroller with good suspension was a must for us. I compared the Bugaboo side by side with both Nuna and Uppababy strollers and was pretty surprised by the noticeable difference in how it drives. Echoing others about Clek’s safety ratings! It also helps that it is compatible with our stroller.

We got the bugaboo dragonfly with the clek liing car seat- lightweight, small and folds with the bassinet attached. Car seat is very safe, fits into my small car and lightweight.

Another vote for the Clek Liing! We ended up going with the Cybex gazelle stroller. It’s a single to double stroller and we also got the bassinet attachment. We found it lighter than the Bugaboo Kangaroo and we chose it over the Uppa Baby Vista because in the double version, the uppa baby can only have the infant bassinet on the bottom and my husband really wanted a double stroller that could have the bassinet on the top part of the double stroller. The cybex can accommodate both configurations! It’s also a beautiful stroller

I think there are thousands of posts about this. But I have the Clek Liing and the Bugaboo Kanagroo. I refuse to support American and they are compatible and very high quality. I'm really pleased with them. Got them at west coast kids.

Haha no worries! We have a Nissan Pathfinder which is huge so it can fit anything and our giant dog. My husband has a subaru legacy and it fits well in the trunk! It just folds down so it's pretty compact. We tested it at West coast kids they have some test models there so you can check if everything fits in your car.

I'm taking my clek liing on a flair plane (737) in a couple of weeks. I went to the airport front counter and the agents told me it would fit. I have attachments for it to snap onto my stroller so I'll gate check the stroller so I won't have to carry him through the airport.

My baby also hated her infant car seat (a Clek Liing) so I splurged and got a Nuna Rava when she was 6 months old. It’s decent but I do somewhat regret buying it because it was SO expensive. When we bought a second convertible seat for my husband’s car, we bought a Graco Extend2fit for half the price at Costco. I believe I paid $300 and last time I was there they were still in stock at the St. James location. She is just as comfortable in the Graco and it was actually easier to install. It even has a higher rear facing weight limit than the Nuna. They feel similar in quality so in hindsight I wish I had just gone with Graco for both and saved some money.

Buy the car seat that gives you the safest install with your vehicle. Then look at compatible strollers. As others mentioned, the CPST Seats for Kids group is great. I did not get the seat that matched my stroller (UB Mesa with the Vista) because I wasn’t convinced it was a great seat for the price and my research determined it was a bad fit for my small vehicle. I ended up with the Clek Liing, which had added safety features, fit well in my car, and bonus was made in Canada.

Only infant bucket seats are compatible with strollers. They're all exclusively rear-facing.  I recommend the Clek Liing for the car seat. It's very highly safety rated and made in Canada. Their site has a list of compatible strollers. I went with the Thule Urban Glide 2; if I was doing it again I'd probably go with my first instinct, which was Uppababy Cruz. The Urban Glide is very smooth, but it's huge, which sucks for taking it anywhere. It also can't have the baby facing you unless you're using it with the car seat - the stroller seat is forward-facing.

The uppababy car seats notoriously are hard to install at the correct angle. The CPST we saw said she hates installing/ checking them. We have a Clek liing, is it better than other cheaper car seats? Probably not. We liked the fact it was a Canadian company and had the load leg so that’s why we went with it. Nurtured in Halifax is where we ordered our car seat and stroller (Uppababy Vista V3) from. Definitely worth a trip to the store to test things out. It’s about a 4.5 hour drive for me but it was worth it.

I didn’t have much problem with one set of car seats between two cars. The manufacturer dictates a lot of how annoying it is to get in and out. The Clek Liing took me about 5-10 minutes to transfer between cars, but the Foonf was big and unwieldy and took way longer. I ended up getting the Nuna Rava, which is still pretty big but is a 15 minute job. Most of the time is spent mounting the mirrors and not the seats. Personally, having four seats would have been a bigger PITA for us. I like having one car with nothing in the back for when I need to fold the seats down to haul stuff.

I think you will regret not having a bucket seat when it can be used for on average the first year of life. Transporting potato stage baby requiring neck support and trying to lock your door behind you would be quite difficult. If you’re in an apartment that also means carrying baby in arms down hall, elevator, stairs, etc. Clek Liing is made in Canada and while all seats for sale pass safety requirements these are minimums. The build quality and rigid latch connection style of the Liing suggest to me a higher safety profile. If you do go convertible you should check out the uppababy ROVE for the highest rear facing weight limit, which is equal to the extend2fit, and one of the Clek, fllo or foomf I never remember and hate their names.

Consider the folded size of the bugaboo fox and your trunk space. Our large stroller (uppababy vista) does not fit in the trunk of our car without a seat down. The bugaboo butterfly fits nicely and we purchased the car seat adaptors for our stroller (Clek Liing) for running errands with baby. It has been working well for us!

Stroller: Uppababy Vista V2 Pros:  1. the big wheels make it great for going off sidewalk with it (we're big hikers) 2. the bassinet is sleep safe and we've used it a ton for visiting friends/grandparents/vacations as our sleep space 3. Lots of storage  Cons:  1.  Takes up a lot of space in the car. We actually find it fits very nicely in our front hall cupboard, which isn't big (condo living), but it takes a fair bit of trunk space  2. Expensive if you buy new. We got ours used with all the accessories for $350. Car seat: clek Liing  Pros: 1. Made in Canada with a good safety rating 2. Easy to wipe down 3. Easy to adjust straps/set up 4. Able to be used safely without the base if grandparents want to take baby somewhere  Cons: 1. Expensive  2. Heavy

Many people buy a infant seat then buy a convertible ehrn they're outgrown. It is possible to use a convertible from birth if your baby is big enough for your seat specs. The downside to this is that you will have to load baby into the seat in the vehicle rather than just popping the bucket seat out. You'll also need to either babywear or purchase a bassinet attachment for your stroller or find one that can accommodate a newborn. Many strollers don't accommodate a child without a bucket seat until they can sit independently, usually around 6 months. You can buy travel systems. I preferred to buy the seat i wanted and the stroller I wanted, with an adapter to accommodate. I'm on my 3rd baby after a 7 year gap. I'm using the same stroller as a decade ago, but the carseats were expired so I got a new carseat and managed with an adapter. I don't have any input on the seats you asked about since I don't own either. In Canada, all seats must meet a minimum safety standard. When buying a seat, look for one that fits your vehicle and your budget. Consider future family as well (will you need to fit more than 2 carseats? Will you regularly have an adult traveling next to a carseat). I ultimately decided on the clek liing for my newborn. Pricey seat, for sure. Great extra safety features, long expiry, compact, and made in Canada.

I had a very fancy bucket seat, the Clek Liing. We loved it! Very high quality and easy to use base that stays in the car. It's compatible with a ton of strollers, worked on our Uppa Baby Vista, which we also loved and used with the bassinet attachment too, which if you walk a lot definitely get. Baby was so much more comfy sleeping in the bassinet than the bucket seat. (Got it all on facebook marketplace, btw, but if budget isn't an option go nuts! I bought the Clek from a family where the dad was a firefighter and was verrrry choosy about car seats having seen so many car accidents.)

I found it not too bad until my baby reached about 15 lbs and then it was killing me to lift her around in it lol my advice would be to go into a few stores and try carrying them around, feel them, check out features etc. it's hard to tell online what you might like in person.

I have used a clek liing with all 3 of my children, it is by far the best one on the market. Comfort, safety, Canadian made, convenience factors - it has it all. Recommend the seat to everyone in my life.

I have the UppaBaby Vista with the bassinet + stroller seat and a Clek Liing car seat. I chose the Clek over the Mesa (and I love my Clek car seat) so I just use small adaptors to click the car seat onto the stroller when I’m doing short trips. Very convenient. My baby LOVED her UppaBaby bassinet and we used it every day for 4 months. I know some people say they aren’t worth it but they absolutely were for us. We also took it with us camping and to a friend’s cottage twice and that’s where she slept overnight since they are rated safe for sleep (not all stroller bassinets are), so for us this was a nice bonus as we didn’t have to bring a pack & play while she was still small enough to fit in the bassinet. But you can buy them on FB marketplace for like $50 so I wouldn’t buy a Vista just for the bassinet attachment. Bugaboo and Thule both make full size strollers with bassinets and are very high quality products and are cheaper than the Vista. You’d have to buy the car seat separately. I personally don’t think the UppaBaby vista is the holy grail. It’s nice and sturdy and great to push around, it has nice attachments like the rain cover and bug nets, etc but there are many other brands with comparably good quality products like Bugaboo and Thule, even Cybex makes a great stroller + bassinet combo.

FTM here! I’m going with the Bugaboo Fox 5 which comes with the bassinet and toddler seat and pairing with the Clek Liing (using the maxi cosi adapter). Personally Uppababy isn’t for me, and I haven’t heard anything positive about the Mesa from my circle. If I didn’t go this direction, I would’ve done a Nuna car seat.

You should definitely not buy another infant seat at this point. Join the fb group “seats for littles” which Is full of CPSTS who can recommend a seat that fits your vehicle. The fit in your particular vehicle is much more important than the brand. CPSTs almost never recommend any of the Nuna seats. They are a poor fit in most vehicles. I had a Clek infant seat and was absolutely convinced that I would get a Clek convertible, but they were not recommended for my vehicle at the time. The much cheaper Graco 4ever was!

Clek Liing, love it. Love that it’s lightweight and compact. Love that it clicks into the base but can go into a car without it. Love that it’s Canadian owned *and* manufactured.  Guzzie + Gus Oxygen 2.0 stroller. I wanted a bassinet style stroller instead of one to click the car seat into. I can put a nice cosy insert in for cool weather and baby can hang out in it longer than her car seat. It’s lightweight. Like, super lightweight. Like, can’t hang a bag off the handles or it tips lightweight. But I could maneuver it within a week of having o cesarean. It’ll also grow with her. I don’t love that she’s not facing me in it, but there are two different ways to have a view directly at her which combats that easily.

So we’ve got the Clek Liing and the Clek Fllo in our primary vehicle and a Graco extend 2 fit in our other car plus each set of grandparents bought the Graco as well. The Graco is not a bad seat. It’s perfectly fine. It’s safe, fairly easy to install etc. BUT every time I use it I’m reminded that the Clek ones are just BETTER. Nicer material, smoother and more streamlined use. The first time I used the Graco I thought my dad had installed it wrong because it was so tough to tighten, I then discovered that’s just the thing with them. I think about it on a cost per use basis. Yes I spend more up front but divided by the times it’s used it’s essentially $0 per use. Fractions of a penny.
