There’s actually another option! Clek liingo!
Oh shoot. I just looked and you’re right! I was confusing the rigid latches on my clek base! Thank you for the correction! Either way OP it’s a fantastic seat!
I wanted to add an additional option because we feel the brand is really great. Clek! They have the liingo which is baseless! We have the liing and it’s my fave bucket (infant seat) I’ve ever used and I’ve used a few!! Editing because I was wrong. The check lingo is a baseless install but does not have the rigid latch. I The base of the check liing does have the rigid latch and I was confused as that is the seat I have.
We were in the exact same situation as OP when we had our first. We got the Clek Liingo and LOVED it. Our daughter was very comfortable in it and used it until 11 months. She was still well within the weight requirements but was very long. It was perfect for the occasional taxi/uber and when we traveled to another province to visit family for the holidays (was super easy for a taxi to and from the airport). Now we are expecting our second and our circumstances have changed and we have a car. Our Liingo is still in great shape and a long time until its expiry so we just got a base and only had to remove one small part in the back to expose the part that clips into the base (a part that is meant to be removed with screws). It’s perfect and we are excited to use it with baby number 2.
We also have an Uppababy vista stroller and the Liingo clipped into the stroller very easily with adaptors.
Highly recommend the clek liing! Consistently rated as one of the safest car seats thanks to its rigid LATCH system and load leg.
With my first I had uppababy cruz with an infant insert, she was a July baby so we did outside walks in it pretty much right away. For car seat we had a Graco snug ride, we didn't have a car at that time so needed something light and easy to bring on Uber rides. We got a car when baby was a year old and at that point she outgrew the bucket seat and we got a clek fllo. This time around I'm due in Feb. Planning to use the same cruz with infant insert with a clek liing car seat. I don't find the bassinet attachment to be very important. I love my cruz though, it's a great urban stroller.
We are big fans of clek. My first had a clek fllo from around 1 year to 5 years then graduated to a clek oobr. I'm expecting and due in Feb with my second and just bought the clek liing for the baby. Clek car seats are on sale now for 20% off. I love that they are made in Canada, and some of the best safety tested seats available.
have you checked out the cpst SEATS group on facebook? they make recommendations specific to your vehicle. That said, I drive a pretty compact sedan and only two car seats were recommended. we ended up with the clik liing and love it!!
The chemicals/flame retardants are also a concern for me and I want the highest rear facing limits possible. Chicco tends not to go as high in rear facing limits as some other brands, so here are some of the other seats I’ve looked into: -Britax also is flame retardant free and they go up higher in rear facing weight and height limits than Chicco. They have the poplar and the one for life in reg width and slim. Britax seats are comparable in proce to Chicco or Graco. - romer convertible seats (Veni and new Nexa) have the same height and weight limits as Britax and they’re flame retardant free. They also have a wool blend fabric option. This is a $$ option more like Nuna. - clek is a Canadian brand, ggg certified and even have wool options. They do not go as high for rear facing limits. This is a $$ option more like Nina. - evenflo green and gentle line of their 360 revolve car seats are flame retardant free and have pretty good rear facing height and weight limits. More affordable option like chicco or Graco. I’m personally planning on a clek infant seat then a Britax or Romer convertible! The new romer wool blend seat is very interesting to me personally!
