Get a bassinet for the 4-6 months as baby will likely be sleeping next to your bed. Any crib would be fine tbh, I wouldn't recommend a mini crib (we thought babies are small, want do they need that space for). We end moving our kid to a floor bed at 10 months. We did a newborn seat (rear facing) then upgrade to a convertible at 10 months (big baby). Having a newborn seat that is compatible with your stroller is really handy. The stroller was the most important part, my kid is 3 and we still haul it out for trips with lots of walking. We are also in a very walkable area, so your milliage may vary. We got the Uppababy Cruz +Mesa car seat. If you are close to a retail store, definitely go try out a few brands. I'd suggest a convertible seat that is easy to disassemble and wash. We got the Diono Radian 3RXT and it's work to clean.

I have the Evenflo revolve that I bought 3 years ago to use when I would pick up my niece from day care, knowing I’d have a child of my own and the appeal of a convertible car seat. It’s been amazing with the turn to me feature to place her in the car seat when she was younger. Now that she’s older she can just get in herself. For my husbands car, we just bought the diono radian 3RXT because of how his seats are. The diono is a slimmer profile and you can still fit 2 adults comfortably in the back seat. We plan to use this for our current baby and possibly a second because my LO is greater than 99th percentile in everything at 10 weeks so we anticipate a separate booster in the future anyways.

I have 3 car seats in the Y (I had 3 under 3.5 a few years back). I swapped one of the car seats for a booster and it's a bit difficult for my oldest to buckle (got him seat belt extenders so it does help). It has a lot of storage space so I can see it being good on road trips. Is it safe? It works for me, but your few month old will probable require a more robust car seat / carrier (now my kids are older) that may make it impossible to do 3 across. I bought 3x of the Diono 3xt or xr, forgot which one. Never heard a complaint about comfort. They love Netflix so theres that ha

I have a couple of these and ended up getting Diono slim fit (3rxt or similar). I believe they can be used for infant too but I have only use mine forward facing.

Currently have 3 slim (Diono) car seats in the back of our Outback and the back our a smaller Crosstrek. I thought we needed a new car but new car seats was a much better solution for us.

There's a Diono model that's approved for air travel that folds and isn't awful to carry. We had one, both my son and I loved it. We only replaced it due to an accident and needing a new one immediately.

We were happy with our Diono carseats for extended rear-face seating. Our strategy on strollers was to buy one that could convert from a single to a double. If I were to do it again, I'd buy a lightly used stroller from Marketplace or a consignment shop. So many baby things (and good quality) can be purchased secondhand. Friends who are done having kids are also VERY willing to give things away.

Wife has all graycos in her SUV. I liked the diono better so went with that for my truck. Now she likes those better and also wants them for her car… sure let’s spend another $600 on car seats

Currently have a Silverado 2500 and there’s some room still, but the gladiator cab is obviously a bit smaller

I three Diono R3s. That’s about as slim as they come. Currently have a Silverado 2500 which has plenty of room. But if I downsized it would be between a Gladiator and maybe a Colorado.
