Crib - no. We changed our mind to a floor bed after the crib, so the toddler bed is useless to us. We *may* use the full bed setting when he's grown grown, but I don't really see that happening now that we're in it. Carseat - yes, but not right away. We started with a travel system stroller + carseat and I wouldn't change that. But once he started to outgrow that carseat, we got him a convertible one to get him through the rest of his carseat time. I love it, too, I just wouldn't start with it because the ability to move the carseat in and out of the car is too nice. ETA: using the travel system also meant that our stroller worked from newborn - now! He still loves it. Baby Bathtub - yeah, we used every stage as we needed it for his ability to sit. Stander Play-thing - love it. It was a great place to set him for when I needed a shower, helped him develop standing muscles (his PT encouraged it), and then became a fun toy when we took the seat out and he could play with it. He still plays with it at 2 years old. That's all the convertible stuff we got, I think.
For the diaper bag I just got a cooler back pack haha. It’s big enough that it fits everything I need especially for 2+ kids. It’s been very durable. Stroller it depends on your needs. I just got a travel system on sale. Car seat I got a Graco that grows with the kid. The one that I picked didn’t weigh much so that was a plus. For car we got a mini van and I love it! It’s so spacious and it’s so easy to put the kids on there without much struggle. Especially when space is limited (cars are parked next us). I think it’s good if you’re planning on having more than 1 kid. But even with one I still would’ve bought it.
FYI: Travel system can be an infant car seat carrier, bassinet and toddler stroller. So I will have to buy a new car seat once he’s too big but I plan to buy Graco 4-1 car seat. My toddler is 4 years old and she’s been in the same Graco 4-1 car seat since she grew out of the infant car seat.
Agreed on your comment about “think about your lifestyle.” For us, we like to travel, live in the city and didn’t want to carry around a bulky stroller so we opted for the Zen yoyo. Just came back from our first trip and it was a great stroller (we spotted the same stroller a lot among other parents). For car seats, we got something like a Graco 4in1 where you can still use it to toddler age. For diaper bag, could’ve gone without one and used any type of bag but we got the LLB and that worked well as a carry on/diaper bag.
You need a car seat for each vehicle. It’s not realistic to install/uninstall, especially between you and your partner. Might be ok for your mom if it’s a rare occurrence or she’s not emergency back up. Anyone who regularly drives with baby in the car needs their own. For my family, we had 3 (for one kid, now we have two kids and 6 car seats), one for each parent and then my mom. I like the Evenflo 360 for the baby/toddler stage. I bought my 5 year old a Graco 4-1 when my baby grew out of the bucket seat so the baby could have the swivel as it wasn’t necessary for the older kid and that saved a LOT of money. The Graco 4-1 is… fine. Not my favorite but it keeps my kid safe and he likes it so whatever.
