I got a MaxiCosi Tayla/Mico XP travel system on super sale. I love it. HOWEVER - I use it a TON (live in a dense city and use lots of over and underground public transport, plus I drive) - I rely on the cargo space - It is a BEAST (folded). Like… huge. - I bought it on super sale (under $300 including tax) If I were to do it again, I’d get a Babyzen Yoyo/Cybex Libelle/Uppababy Minu and then an inexpensive but well-rated infant car seat that is compatible, with adapters, with one of those travel strollers. I think any of these would suffice as far as cargo goes (meaning I could make it work), and they would be more versatile as baby grows. I, personally, would absolutely not spend >$500 on a stroller or >$700 on a travel system. Your needs are likely to shift within the first 6-9mos of baby’s life, and baby will very likely grow out of infant car seat within a year.

I second these two Maxi-cosi options - they’re what we got and they’ve been great for us too. I did get the big buggy ‘bundle’ (Uppababy vista with bassinet and seat plus the maxi-cosi infant seat with adapters). I wanted this because we do lots of walks and visit places like Nature reserves, National Trust etc so having a sturdy pram that can do off-road was important for us. We went for the Vista rather than Cruz as it can become a double, and now we’ve got a second we’re using it that way. I also use a baby carrier a huge amount, but I am glad I’ve got a pram for longer trips out when I want to be able to put baby down (eg to eat, for my own comfort, etc) and as others have said, the bassinet is rated for night time sleep so it’s great for trips away while baby fits in it. We also ended up getting a travel buggy second hand which we use for holidays (this one isn’t a double but we’ve now bought a buggy board that fits both so we can switch between them when we need to).

If you decide to go the full crib route, definitely consider Ikea Sniglar. Very sturdy, minimalistic, excellent materials/no toxic paint and the cheapest crib you will likely find from a reputable source. Unfortunately it doesn’t have storage but you’ll save so much money you invest in something like a dresser instead possibly. We lowered the crib recently and it also converts to a toddler bed. In terms of Canadian brands, r/buycanadian has some good previous posts! Dorel is a Canadian company which owns Maxi Cosi, Safety First and Cosco. Could consider their stroller/car seat? I personally have maxi cosi Zelia and the Mico seat but I’m not super fond of the stroller - it takes some getting used to and needs two hands to collapse and is bulky.

My first 2 used the maxi cosi. It's a very long seat, so even in large sedans and SUVs, the front seat needed to be moved forward to accommodate. I've heard that if you have a smaller car, the front seat is basically unusable with the maxi cosi. What I liked about it is that our car's back seats are "sporty" and are bucket seats. We tried a bunch of other models and none could get the right angle when buckled in. For my third I bought the Clek since it was sale (and different car now), and uses the same stroller adaptors as the maxi cosi. It can also do 3 across the back seats. Haven't tried it yet but heard good things. If you have a snuggle bugs or WCK then you can try out the seats. The biggest deciding factor for us was the seat base and whether the car seat could properly level when installed.

We used the maxi Cosi infant car seat as a travel car seat and it worked great. I think there's a Cosco (not Costco) one from Walmart that's also highly rated as a travel infant car seat. They are both light and very easy to install with just a seat belt and don't require a base.

Agree with this! Our infant seat is MC and I got it for $280 during a sale a couple years ago. So price and the fact that the seat was light were big selling features. Our daughter (and our arms lol) were happier when we switched her to a convertible seat around 6 months. We went with Clek Fllo for that... liked it so much we bought another for baby#2 due in a couple months. But definitely agree that the screaming is a sign that baby is either over the infant seat and/or they are making their opinions on car rides known now that they're leaving the potato stage lol.

Will you have a stroller with you? I have a light weight maxi cosí (I think basically the same as the cosco scenera, just available in NZ), and clip it to the back of the stroller if I’m heading out in a taxi. I have a mountain buggy and there is some extension thing that means I could clip it onto the stroller and use it as a seat, I just haven’t bothered with it, but the seat itself is very light weight.

Book a seat and bring her car seat. See [here](https://maxicosi.com/blogs/maxi-cosi-blog/how-to-travel-tips-flying-with-a-car-seatHowtoTravelTips:FlyingwithaCarSeat%E2%80%93Maxi-Cosi) from Maxi Cosi website where it should be flight approved. There was a story from the last day or so about sudden turbulence on a Delta flight that left 25 injured and had to make an emergency stop. Imagine if you were just holding her vs her being strapped in on a flight where that happened, and it’s much more common these days.

Our LO came home at just under 1.8kgs. We have the maxi cosi. Looking back at the pictures she was insanely small for that thing! But we got home and she grew into it 😅

We had a Maxi-Cosi infant seat and moved him to the Graco Extend2fit at about 8 months. He had started to hate the bucket seat and I got it on a good sale. He was instantly happy! He just turned 2 and still loves his seat. It can rear face until 50lbs so that was one of the reasons we went with it. We eventually got one for my husband's car (had a Cosco Scenera before)
