r/BeyondTheBumpUKPram or pram bundle?

FTM, and baby is now 1.5 years old. Spent a considerable amount of money on a pram and car seat that can fit into the pram frame (with an adapter) - thus not a ‘bundle’. Based on my experience I would still buy the car seat that we had but I wouldn’t spend nowhere near enough money that we spent on the buggy - for the reasons that I will mention below… Personal opinion, but if I were to do this all over again and potentially if you’d have more than 1 child: - buy the car seat that you’re happy with and safe for for newborn. We had maxi cosi pebble with isofix and this is a life saver. You can then use this for 2nd baby too at newborn stage up until say 6 months old. - then once baby is long / old enough to move on to the next stage, get a car seat that he/she can use up until around 4 years of age. We opted for maxi cosi Pearl which is the next size up from Pebble. Use the same isofix so just need to buy the car seat. - buggy: you can opt for a buggy that can then becomes a double buggy - hence saving you money in the longer run. But they are typically very sturdy and bulky. At some point in your life you may also want to have a ‘travel’ buggy for travelling that can go into cabin hold for example. I spent a lot of money on a buggy that I really want to get rid of and just want to use the travel buggy now. So consider what you may want to do in the future. Long story short, I won’t be fixated with a ‘bundle’ of the same brands between pram and car seat because it may not make sense / give you the best option. Then on the buggy/ pram - don’t spend a fortune because most people will then opt for a second pram (lighter, travel pram etc) unless you are 100% sure you want a double buggy and use the buggy a lot. We drives a lot and long distance - hence a good car seat is a must. And because most of the time we don’t take public transport or do a super long walk with the baby, the pram / bassinet gets less use than what it was originally intended for. Each to their own. Think about what you need more & most and budget it based on that. Also buy in stages than all in 1 go, even if you have the £££ as more often than not, people’s life change and what suits you today may not suits you 1-2 years from now. Also when we were selecting the car seat, I wanted one that fully reclined for the newborn, yet versatile enough to be brought on the plane whilst also can be used with both seatbelt and isofix. We actually used all of the functionality as I took the car seat with me to asia for 6 weeks and we were travelling to 10 different cities when baby was 4-6 months old. That car seat has been everywhere and was a life saver because he was safe in a taxi, on the plane (we booked him a seat on low-cost airlines that has no bassinet) and because it docked into the buggy then we can move the car seat straight into the buggy if he was asleep. And because that particular car seat can be used with or without isofix, we didn’t buy another car seat for our 2nd car. We just use isofix for 1 car (the main one) and if we need to drive the other car we just secure it using the seatbelt.

We got the UpperBaby Vista and the ISO Fix MaxiCosi Pebble Pro. Part of the bundle was some adaptors that let us put the MaxiCosi seat on the Vista, takes about 20 seconds. Maxi Cosi Pro is great because it reclines so much more than other seats

That’s interesting! We tried a few car seats after having a horrible one for our first and the pebble pro was the most supportive we found. We love it.

We had a Nuna Pipa Urbn which was great at first as its easy to use and clip into vehicles BUT we ended up having to send it back as it put our LO in a really awkward position and would cause her into the chin to chest position which isn’t safe at all. We had numerous communications with Nuna to try different positions and they were great, but we couldn’t resolve it so they gave us a refund. We now have the Maxi-cosí pebble which has been great as it has 3 reclining positions and is easy to install into other cars with the seatbelt and it only takes a few minutes. Check the attachments as a lot of brands use the same attachments so even though we had the nuna pram the maxi-cosí car seat still attached using the nuna pipa urbn attachment. Good luck and congratulations for June

That's what we did. Maxi Cosi baby bucket until she was 1 - we had an isofix base in each car so we could just clip and go. Rear facing seat until she was 4.5 (she sized out by weight about a fortnight before she started school). Then into a high back booster. We bought a 0 - 12 one for the car we use least when she sized out of the baby bucket (age 1 - 4 she probably did 10 journeys in that car because of work patterns and COVID etc). Would not have trusted it under 1 but it was an excellent RF toddler seat and now it's a perfectly usable booster and as we kept the box, we've taken it on holiday the last couple of years to use in the hire car. It means we've covered everything in two cars with 4 seats, and not having to switch between cars.

My first 2 used the maxi cosi. It's a very long seat, so even in large sedans and SUVs, the front seat needed to be moved forward to accommodate. I've heard that if you have a smaller car, the front seat is basically unusable with the maxi cosi. What I liked about it is that our car's back seats are "sporty" and are bucket seats. We tried a bunch of other models and none could get the right angle when buckled in. For my third I bought the Clek since it was sale (and different car now), and uses the same stroller adaptors as the maxi cosi. It can also do 3 across the back seats. Haven't tried it yet but heard good things. If you have a snuggle bugs or WCK then you can try out the seats. The biggest deciding factor for us was the seat base and whether the car seat could properly level when installed.

We used the maxi Cosi infant car seat as a travel car seat and it worked great. I think there's a Cosco (not Costco) one from Walmart that's also highly rated as a travel infant car seat. They are both light and very easy to install with just a seat belt and don't require a base.

Agree with this! Our infant seat is MC and I got it for $280 during a sale a couple years ago. So price and the fact that the seat was light were big selling features. Our daughter (and our arms lol) were happier when we switched her to a convertible seat around 6 months. We went with Clek Fllo for that... liked it so much we bought another for baby#2 due in a couple months. But definitely agree that the screaming is a sign that baby is either over the infant seat and/or they are making their opinions on car rides known now that they're leaving the potato stage lol.

Book a seat and bring her car seat. See [here](https://maxicosi.com/blogs/maxi-cosi-blog/how-to-travel-tips-flying-with-a-car-seatHowtoTravelTips:FlyingwithaCarSeat%E2%80%93Maxi-Cosi) from Maxi Cosi website where it should be flight approved. There was a story from the last day or so about sudden turbulence on a Delta flight that left 25 injured and had to make an emergency stop. Imagine if you were just holding her vs her being strapped in on a flight where that happened, and it’s much more common these days.
