We got Bugaboo Fox and turtle car seat. Our neighborhood has lots of steep hills and we also live next to a park with many trails. Nuna felt a bit too unstable on uneven roads
Bugaboo and either with the nuna pipa or bugaboo turtle (by nuna as well through bugaboo). My stroller is amazing and my son is 3 asking for a stroller walk all the time lol
Hi OP. I follow an amazing account that just did a huge deep dive into FRs in car seats. Here is what they found: https://www.modernnursery.com/blogs/all/added-fire-retardants-in-car-seats-exposing-popular-brands I ended up going with the Bugaboo Turtle Air by Nuna.
We have the Nuna Turtle - little on the heavy side but a great carseat. Compatible with the bugaboo kangaroo
Then you’re going to want a newborn car seat if you want it to work with a stroller. Figure out what stroller you like and then get the car seat that works with, not the other way around. You’ll only be using this newborn seat for less than a year but using the stroller for much longer. We went with Nuna car seat and it’s been fine but that’s only because that’s what worked best with our bugaboo stroller.
We have a bugaboo fox 5 and are very happy with it. Large stroller for fitting in a trunk but I knew that. Just curious but if you’re a ftm, why go with a donkey? Are you planning on having a second baby within two years or so after this one? The reason I ask if the donkey is quite large. Why not get the kangaroo in that case? The donkey has a hard time fitting through doorways. I know that’s not what you’re asking for advice on so I’ll get to what you asked about. We are using a bugaboo turtle air shield which is just a Nuna pipa air RX but rebranded as all black for bugaboo. You’ll still need adapters for it like you will with all of these car seats. Some of the seats you have listed here are no longer on the market so that takes them out of contention. The Nuna pipa aire rx is extremely light which is nice. You’re going to want a newborn car seat for the first year in my opinion. It’s very nice to be able to pull the car seat out of the car and clip it in without having to disturb the baby to transfer them to the stroller seat, which you can’t use until 6 month due to not enough recline, so you’d have to use the huge bassinet to go into stores. The bassinet is fantastic for walks though but not for running into stores.
My parents have a Graco for their car and we have a Nuna in my husband’s car! We love both equally! The Nuna is “nicer” and if non-toxic materials are important to you, go with the Nuna. We have the Tavo stroller as well and the seat reclines fully and the footrest folds up to create a bassinet. We have never used a Graco stroller, but love our Nuna stroller! Getting ready for our second and we once again are going to be using the Nuna infant seat and purchasing a Rava when the time comes.
