G5 Orbit toddler car seat. They are ahead of the curve. When my daughter (who’s 12 now) was a toddler- this is what I used. It’s a toddler car seat that can dock onto a stroller and be attached to a car via seatbelt. Granted this might be a bit much because it is quite heavy if you have a back problem. Also, you have to use the side brackets l; which means you cannot rotate the car seat. https://orbitbaby.com/products/g5-toddler-car-seat?srsltid=AfmBOooPmADPdIKQk9upFcAMme478Q_36kr0CMQy6kWq84_f0eOMjuRY

You want the Orbit toddler seat and an orbit stroller. This setup will run you about $1200 if you get the carseat and frame but not a regular seat. This is the ONLY toddler seat in the united states that clicks onto a stroller. Just making sure you know about the orbit baby! It’s super expensive but it’s exactly what OP is asking about

The car seat can be used baseless! At least the toddler seat can. I don’t recall if the infant seat can because we didn’t get ours until, like OP, we were searching for a toddler seat/stroller combo.

Orbit baby is the only toddler seat that clicks into a stroller I think. We use it for travel, and it’s pretty great, but suuuuper expensive and heavy. Idk why so many people are saying this doesn’t exist!

Which forward facing do you have that’s not FAA approved? Almost all car seats are FAA approved. Personally, I love having the car seat on the plane. It gives kiddo his own space that he’s familiar with and that’s comfy for sleep. It also gives me something to lean against to sleep 😂 We travel a lot and always bring the seat on the plane. No advice on specific lightweight seats, though, because we travel with the orbit baby toddler seat, which is heavy and expensive, but also clicks into the stroller frame for carting through the airport and for once we get to the destination. Pros and cons.

I believe there is a brand called orbit that offers a toddler sized carseat that is stroller compatible. Otherwise you can request an Uber with carseat. But if neither of those are feasible then I would say just go places you can walk to from the hotel. Kids change a lot, travel plans might not look how you pictured them initially just like how at home you might have to choose a family restaurant over a pub when vacationing you may have to forgo some activities that are just not realistic to get to safely . You can rent a car, buy a special stroller, or get a hotel near the things you want to do..but these things can be costly so you need to weigh that against how much you want to do things that necesitate a carseat. The fact that you are even on here asking this question shows you are a great mom and are looking out for your little one, I'm just on here saying it's not worth the risk of getting in an accident without a proper restraint system just because it was inconvenient or expensive to go see that one attraction you just haaad to visit

Wow! Didn’t know this existed. I don’t think it’s expensive at all, after all people buy $1000 strollers!

That's fair! If there's no budget, take a look at babyark. It's parent-friendly. There are tons of recommendations for rotating car seats. We had one for our newborn, the orbit baby one. It was great, but the babyark is just engineered better. When I was picking, I also read that rotating ones fly off the base in car crashes. I think the one that spurred the debate and the news cycle was the Evenflo, but I could well be wrong. I just couldn't bring myself to get one after reading that. The other piece was that once your kid can climb/walk, you no longer need to lift them into the car seat. It feels like it's so so far away, but the time fliessssss so fast, it's insane.
