I say this kindly, but you are overthinking it. There's so much dang pressure to get it right before baby arrives. We just got the Chicco caddy that our infant car seat clips into. We have been using it for 9 months exclusively and it's the easiest thing ever. So many ppl are giving them away for pennies on marketplace. Now that the lady is 9 months we purchased a forward-facing stroller (Chicco mini bravo plus) that can still hold our infant car seat if we want.
Our chicco corso gets mistaken for a high end all the time. We love it for the day to day... but what we really love is our Chicco Bravo Mini we bought for $40 on Facebook marketplace that our Keyfit35 carseat clicks into with no adapters and without needing to swap out the standard seat. We originally bought it for air travel because I didn't want baggage handling to destroy our primary stroller and then we ended up liking it more. My only issue with it is the wheels don't seem as robust to me and it's a little stiffer to push.
I have 2 strollers for our 17 month old. One is a Bob jogging stroller that I bought new. I love it. It pushes so easy, is great for walks, running, hiking, ect. That being said, it barely fits in the back of my husbands small car, so we can only take it if we are taking the SUV. But that's not really an issue for us. My other stroller is the Chico Bravo Mini that I bought for $50 from FB market place. I bought it when I was going on my first plane ride with baby at 4 month because it would work with my chico carseat. It mostly only gets used for travel, but I don't mind if it gets beat up going through the airplane because I bought it used.
I also have the Fit2, but I got the Chicco Mini Bravo travel stroller to go with it.
So, this is my personal experience: Back in 2023, my wife and I took my oldest daughter to Disneyland, we used the Chico Bravo folding stroller which folds pretty compact and is good quality. It would be more storage than your smaller compact strollers but small enough that they fit through X Rays. We did Disneyland only, and just one day, and walked about 15-20 minutes from our hotel to the park gate area. Last February, we did a four day Disney World trip with a Babytrend Expedition double, with a 3 and 1 year old in the stroller. Obviously significantly more space since it’s a double, but the single version has significantly more space than my Chicco Bravo for 2 or my single Chicco bravo that we used on the Disneyland trip. The Chicco is easy enough to maneuver until you start loading it with stuff. If you plan on purchasing souvenirs it means you’ll need to carry more. It’s a bit harder store things. It’s very light but if your daughter is going to be in it a lot, then it’s not something I recommend. I hold this opinion with most compact, lightweight strollers. The Babytrend is a heavier stroller, and is a jogger type stroller. Mine is a double so it’s quite a bit larger but the single looks to be about 2/3 the size of the double, so I wouldn’t say it’s a compact stroller but it still folds up pretty small. The storage on the single looks to be significantly more, you could fit a reasonably full backpack under the seat. As long as you keep the weight down at the bottom, it maneuvers about the same full vs empty. You take up more space in public but not a significant amount more IMO. My recommendations: I’m assuming you’re doing a 3-5 park day trip, or park hopping with 2-4 days. I personally would recommend using the Babytrend Expedition single, which is priced at $140 at my Target according to google. It’s not a “compact” stroller but just about any compact stroller is going to be less enjoyable to push a child in for days at a time, especially if you don’t push a child in a stroller for a long time on a regular basis. If you absolutely HAVE to use a compact stroller, look for one with three wheels. Like the Graco Outpace ($220) at target or the Babytrend Tango 3 ($150) at Walmart. I recommend something with inflatable wheels, since it’s gonna be better at going up sidewalk curbs, multiple terrains, and be more comfortable pushing for long terms. I do not have any experience with park strollers so can’t offer insight there.
Id suggest picking out a carseat, then seeing what strollers are compatible. Then you don't need to worry about another adapter I had a Chicco Bravo and it worked fine on sidewalks/side of the road in winter. To be clear I used it as a going for walks for fun stroller, not a heavy duty commuting stroller. But it was what I needed and cost effective ($200 vs the $1k+ top of the line strollers!). It also folded fine into my small car, and wasn't too annoying to carry up 3 porch steps No clue about the bassinet but I just used the car seat with mine. By 8 months or so, baby liked sitting up and watching the world go by instead of sleeping anyways. Or honestly I wasn't going to "use up" a nap in the stroller. Strollers were for keeping baby occupied, naps at home so I could get stuff done! So never needed the bassinet
This is the way. We have the Chicco Viaro (jogging style stroller) and I love it for walks but it is quite long and difficult to maneuver in many stores or crowded spaces. It is a dream to walk on sidewalks, streets, and even in grass or in gravel. It never gets stuck on uneven pavement. My parents have a Chicco Bravo and it is great for smaller spaces like stores but does sometimes get stuck on uneven ground! If I had to choose again I’d probably go for the Bravo just because it’s a little smaller.
Depends how your going to be using your stroller. If your going to be walking/jogging down that dirt road regularly or be in rural areas a lot, your gonna want some sort of jogger stroller or something with inflatable wheels. If your going to keep it in your vehicle and use it for when your going shopping in the city, going out to eat, and use it for an urban sort of lifestyle, with tad bits of times you walk the stroller on gravel, grass, etc, maybe a good all terrain full stroller with good suspension like Uppababy Cruz, Nuna Mixx Next, Bugaboo Fox 5. If you want something more budget friendly in this category maybe the Chicco Corso or Bravo stroller,Graco Modes Nest 2 grow. Jogger strollers include BabyJogger city mini gt, Thule Urban Glide, Guava Roam, Uppababy Ridge, etc. A carseat is 100% necessary, so no matter what, that should be the 1st thing you look at. Find 1 you like, then look at what strollers its compatible with (usually you might have to buy a separate adapter if you use a different brand of carseat from the stroller). You can always look at what strollers already come as part of a bundled travel system with that carseat. But before you even get started looking at carseats, you need to make a decision ifbyour going to use an Infant Carseat (pill bug looking seats), or a convertible carseat (the big ones that stay in a vehicle), or both.
I found mine for free on the side of the road lol. It's not like a car seat you have to buy me, second hand is great! It's a Chicco bravo that lets you put the infant car seat in and I highly recommend that feature. We use it everywhere, took it through the airport, etc. love it. Roomy enough for stuff under the seat and has cupholders (critical) I do wish I had a jogging stroller but never quite bit the bullet knowing it would get infrequent use
I live in a small town with 350 people in the middle of nowhere. We don’t have sidewalks. Half the town is gravel road. My parents live on a farm. We started with the Chicco bravo that came with his bucket seat and it was just ok. It had the four plastic wheels. They were loud. But it folded up pretty small. I got a used bob stroller with three big wheels that are air filled and it’s soooo much nicer for the snow and gravel. I’ll get the Chicco adapters for it for the bucket seat for this next baby. So I guess what you’re looking for is big wheels and air filled. Good luck!
