we find it super convenient, it’s easier for us to load the baby outside the car, and then move the entire seat inside. Makes it great for doctors appointments. That being said, I don’t see it as a replacement for an actual stroller. It’s great for what we need to get from car to location, but we prefer an actual stroller for longer walks
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->I have a Doona that I use for right now and I used it on a recent trip with my baby, I wore him in the airports and out and about and threw my bag into the stroller. when I was with my parents I just left it in the car
r/babywearing • Traveling with a car seat in Uber/Lyft/Taxi and no stroller? ->I absolutely love our Doona for car travels. I take Uber pretty frequently and it’s just so easy for in and outs. I also traveled across the country and it was sooo handy in the airport! I found it heavy in the very beginning but I actually think I’ve gotten stronger since then because it’s easier for me to lift now. we were lucky enough to get ours for free so that is also a plus; we could never have afforded it with the hefty price tag
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->I use a second hand doona which is good for infants as it folds into a car seat. Got it for $100
r/askSingapore • Parents in Singapore, where do you get your stroller and how much was it? ->Doona + a used bigger stroller for home (like Uppa or Nuna)
r/BabyBumps • Please just tell me what stroller to buy ->We got gifted one and really like it. It is our on the go stroller
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->Honestly surprised at how many people are upset by the height. I’m 5’7 and have zero issue. It’s extremely convenient when running errands, especially with ny toddler in tow. IMO the biggest downside is that it’s damn heavy, but since it doubles as a stroller, the only time I’m carrying it is into the house. All that said, we bought from a trusted secondhand source, so didn’t have the hefty price tag.
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->We live in the City and Doona has been awesome!
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->Doona for travel/errands until they size out, then bugaboo butterfly for travel. Uppababy vista for every day.
r/NewParents • What's the best stroller you've used? ->We had the Doona and it’s one of our top 5 baby items. Incredibly convenient for quick car rides/errands and the best baby product for travel. Literally no cons except that our 99th percentile baby grew out of it around 12-13mo. I am SO sad that we can no longer use it.
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->I was skeptical because I’m 5’11 and knew I would be having a 2nd c-section but I decided to give it a try because I found it at a steep discount during the Nordstrom Sale and I absolutely love it! I was able to load it in the car pretty easily post c-section and it’s super handy especially with having a toddler to herd as well. My only complaint is that it takes up a ton of room in a shopping cart but in reality, my previous infant carrier took up most of the cart as well.
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->Fantastic product! But if you're active/sporty you'll probably need a second bigger/rugged stroller. The Doona is a brilliant piece of engineering. Seamless transitioning from driving to walking. You don't need to detach a stroller and put it in the trunk. Excellent modular base to clip into. But also easy to use with seatbelt in other cars/taxis. Amazing for global travel. The main thing about the slight extra weight is that you literally lift it out of car and release the wheels below. The lift should be for about 3 feet. Seemed pricey when I first looked at it. Now I think it was one of our best purchases. The negatives are that it has small wheels and no suspension. (This is a lightweight urban/travel solution). So if you like to walk/hike/run on loose surfaces it's not going to work. For these activities we bought a Thule Glide. It also has no storage by default. So you'll want the clip on essentials bag for diapers etc. and the clip on backpack for airplane travel.
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->I absolutely love our Doona. It pops open into a stroller in 1 click and buckles into a taxi using the seat belt in less than 60 seconds (Google how to do it first so you aren't struggling!). We live in NYC and it's perfect for going from taxi to walking. It's not the same as going without a stroller but it's the most versatile option you'll find- you can carry it like a car seat (handle up) or push it as a stroller (handle out)
r/babywearing • Traveling with a car seat in Uber/Lyft/Taxi and no stroller? ->I LOVED it. We live in a very dense city and didn’t have a car when my son was small. It was awesome for navigating tight spaces and for use on public transportation and Ubers. I wouldn’t recommend it for a more suburban lifestyle.
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->At one point we had like 8 lol. They all have such different use cases! A city mini travel system we got when we had our first. Sold it once our 2nd baby was out of the infant car seat. We also had a Doona and loved that. Sold both when he got too big. We had a City Mini double (someone in my parents rich neighborhood was giving it away! And then they paid $$$ to ship it to us, lol.) that we just used around the neighborhood because it was too bulky and a pain to take in the car with the second seat. (Sold this one) A evenflo pivot stroller wagon we took around. A $50 costco wagon that folded up and fit in the car really well. For a while we stopped using the pivot because this one was just easier. A double umbrella we only used for traveling or kept in the trunk, it was a pain because it was short so the adult had to hunch to push. But it was small, we took it on planes to visit my parents. (Sold this one, kids are 6 and 3 now) A GB pockit amazing fold up tiny single stroller. Perfect for travel, took it to NYC and on a cruise. A urbini reversi single stroller, we kept that one even though we used it rarely because it was the only one that could recline super flat for the kid to sleep that had okay storage underneath. After we sold the big double stroller we decided to take the kids to Disney World and I realized wagons weren’t allowed. We considered taking 2 single strollers and quickly abandoned that idea and bought a Graco Sit and Stand double stroller on marketplace for $50 that we love and take with us when we go places like the Zoo and stuff now. Good storage, our older kid can stand or sit and hop on and off easily.
r/NewParents • What kind of/how many strollers do people have? ->I have and love my Doona but it’s really only for car/plane/cab/and quick errands. Great for running to the pediatrician or the bank. Terrible for going on walks etc. It’s a pretty rough ride over anything but very smooth pavement, and has a fairly short handle for pushing. If you’re not even planning to use it as a plane seat I definitely wouldn’t spend the money. ETA it can barely handle the grass in my front yard, it will definitely be a rough go in snow and mud. If you’re used to a real stroller I think you’ll hate it.
r/NewParents • Traveling for the first time with baby. Buy Doona? Or deal with stroller and car seat? ->Unsure what you mean BIFL. Survive multiple kids, suit a single child from newborn to 3+ years, or simply extra durable so it can withstand your stated activities? Bought a Doona secondhand and am using it for the second time so it has supported at least 3 children up until they grow out of it at like 2 years old. So it's technically a short life span, but not having to carry a separate car seat was a godsend and honestly it's in good enough condition I would be able to resell it as well if I wanted to.
r/BuyItForLife • Stroller Recommendations ->We have the UB Vista V2 stroller + Mesa V2 car seat for our “normal” set up but I recently traveled with my 4-month old alone and couldn’t imagine having to break all that down to gate check. We were also gifted the Doona which I was planning on returning bc my husband is pretty tall and the Doona is pretty low to the ground but decided my mental health for solo travel as a FTM was worth it and it was definitely a game changer. I did buy the padded travel bag for the Doona ($100) and it was sooo worth it. The Doona IMO is too heavy for every day use but until my kid outgrows it, I won’t travel without it.
r/NewParents • Airplane travel with 4 month old… Stroller recommendations needed! ->I have one and I love it. I don’t find it too heavy, but I imagine all of that is very individual. I also bought mine secondhand and paid less than half price, so that may color my perception!
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->Ours was gifted but we never used it in the car 😅 we used it for walking around the city and if kiddo still fits when we travel by plane soon we’ll bring it and use as our car seat. We had grand aspirations that we’d be able to uber downtown and bring baby for date nights… yeah that didn’t happen for many reasons haha It was super convenient for small spaces/sidewalks, stopping for a quick bite to eat, and running errands. My kiddo grew pretty quickly and while still fits at 10mo, they’re much more comfortable in their full size stroller and convertible car seat. I think if we lived in huge city w/no car, it’d be worth it more than living in our small (everyone needs a car) city.
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->For a 2 hour flight I wouldn't stress it, you should be fine babywearing the whole time. Your plan to check the stroller and car seat and just baby wear until you get to your destination is sound. The rest of this post is what I think you should consider, only if longer flights are on your radar in the first year. We just traveled with an older baby (5.5 months) and used a doona and a Oscha Cairis carrier through the airport The doona was nice because it went strait from the Uber, through the airport until security, folded down and went through the scanner at TSA while baby went with me through the metal detector, then popped back up and carried baby until we had to gate check it at our gate. This was super helpful on our return flight as we had less time than we hoped to grab food in the airport and the options were a long ways away so we ended up doing a bit of jogging which I don't feel comfortable with with baby in a carrier. It also meant (aside from takeoff and landing where it's not allowed) my baby slept well in their carrier for most of their 6 hour flight with only a single feeding. I feel like they wouldn't be as chill with being in there so long if we also did carrier through the airport. I'm a big fan of baby wearing, but we also needed the car seat and with the doona also doubling as a stroller and working so well going into and out of Ubers straight into stroller mode and working just with a seatbelt, it was super helpful for us. I would also recommend one of the giant backpack bag covers for the doona to keep it clean and from being damaged/scuffed when gate checked You can definitely do it without a doona and with just a carrier, you'll just likely have to take the baby out a few more times to rest and lay in different positions a few times. Also, our alpine ear protection was amazing, baby didn't cry once for adjusting cabin pressure. Alternatively, make sure you can feed the baby, especially during final descent to help those ears pop
r/NewParents • Travel Advice: Bag or Gate Check Stroller/Car Seat? ->I guess I'm going to be the odd one out but we travel with ours and love it for that. We actually just flew with it today. It's easy to get into an Uber, walk through the airport until security, take our baby and collapse it and it fits through the little TSA scanner, then pop it back up put baby back in and walk to the gate. When you get to your destination you still have a car seat and stroller to get to your final destination It's great for travel, but we would never use it as our main car seat or stroller
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->I love it as a car seat, it’s great for travel/errands. We also have another stroller we use for walks and park trips though. Really depends on your lifestyle whether you’d get enough value from it.
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->Absolutely love ours. I love it because you don’t have to transfer them from a car seat to a stroller if they’re sleeping. Just makes like so much easier. I wouldn’t say it’s the best stroller but for short distances it’s great.
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->If I had to start over, I would choose the even Flo dual shift, and a mocking bird that can convert to a double. I was one and done when we had my daughter, so I got the Doona and I love it but the even Flo seems easier as you can take the wheels off and click it in to a stroller!!!
r/BabyBumps • Confused by strollers, what do you recommend? ->I am 5’6” and primarily used it. Partner is away for work a lot so I had lots of solo errand running w baby. I LOVED it. She is 14mo and we still use it but I finally just got a seat that will transition w her for many more years. Now we use the Doona in my partner’s car. He loves it too.
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->I didn’t get the Doona at first because I thought it was too small for a stroller and too heavy for a car seat. I used to joke about people pushing that tiny thing around like a real stroller. Well, I took a one-month trip back to my home country and ended up buying a second-hand one from a friend—just for the trip, or so I thought. Now? I haven’t touched my regular car seat + stroller combo since. The Doona goes *everywhere* with me. It’s hands-down the most convenient, easy-to-use baby item I own. I swear by it and totally regret not getting one sooner! And now that my daughter is *almost* outgrowing it, I’m already dreading the day we have to say goodbye to our Doona.
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->I have both the Doona and Nuna! They are both great w their own pros and cons. If I had to pick between the two, I could go for the Nuna. The Doona has a pretty short time span in which you can actually use it. By the time my daughter was 9 months old she outgrew it based on her height. It was so convenient as a new born but as she grew it did get really heavy. A lot of people I know love the Doona and it is great but not for everyone and not in every scenario. The Nuna , IMO, handles better & has more functions. And will be something that can grow with your baby. The materials feel so lux and it is pretty light weight as well as folds easily for travel. We use the Nuna TRVL as our main. If you check on Nordstrom they actually sell it in a package w an infant car seat— I got mine during their mid year sale and save a few hundred $$$
r/BabyBumps • stroller + car seat recs? esp. Nuna or Doona - FTM feeling overwhelmed ->Loved our Doona. Yes it lasts a year, and its heavy if you plan on carrying it around, but beyond lifting it in and out of the car there is no reason to carry it around, it's so easy for wheels to drop down and turn into a little stroller. We used it for out two kids and then I sold it so we felt it was very worth it.
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->We do so much travel so this and the Nanit are top items for us. Critical for travel!!
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->I borrowed one from a friend for an out of town wedding. It was super convenient for travel and using a Lyft, but I wouldn’t use it as my main stroller/car seat. People must be referring to it being heavy when carrying it in car seat mode, because it is lightweight like a travel stroller. You can’t hang anything on it and there’s no storage built in. Walking around, we hit an uneven bit of pavement and it would have tipped over if I hadn’t had a good grip on it. As with so many things, everything is a personal preference kinda thing. One of my sisters uses a travel stroller as her main stroller because she only uses it when out and about. I’m a walker - baby and I have been outside for a walk with the dog practically every day for the past 8 months. I love our UppaBaby Vista because it’s sturdy, has storage, and is adaptable. We used the bassinet until he was big enough to be in the infant insert. I’m pretty sure we only used the car seat into stroller feature in the early days for doctors visits.
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->My husband has this in his car and to be honest, I was never able to use it by myself: it is too heavy with the baby in it. But it was very easy in the first 6 months for doctors appointments and such. I just saw a Doona at Tj maxx yesterday for $399.
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->We have it and it is pretty useful. The stroller isn’t great for long walks because the wheels are really hard rubber so you feel all the bumps, also it’s pretty short. But it’s great for trips to the grocery store or to a restaurant or something.
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->We use one for travel only. It is indeed super heavy like many have pointed out. But very convenient to fold, make into car seat to take cabs, take to restaurants as it is more compact than traditional strollers. We do use a traditional stroller and car seat when not traveling out of our home
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->I’m 5-11 and have the Doona and it’s not uncomfortable at all to push. But I do have a 6-2 wingspan so my arms are kinda long.
r/daddit • My wife has a crazy addiction to buying strollers. So we’ve tried em all. ->It’s great for travel! Yes, it’s heavy and short, but the convenience of not having to bring a car seat and stroller separately is so nice. Will be sad when my baby outgrows it. Definitely not good as a main stroller though.
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->We did for our second. It’s heavy but not unmanageable. I wish it had some storage but ultimately the convenience outweighs the cons. The height isn’t an issue as we aren’t super tall. I find it super helpful especially if I’m taking my toddler + baby out on my own as I can get baby in/out of the car quickly. We still have a regular stroller for walking though so I didn’t feel the burden of having to buy two before baby came.
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->Absolutely loved it - was so sad when my son grew out of it. Several trips and flights - favorite thing ever!
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->Go for Doona Infact car seat and stroller. It is literally a car seat that transforms into a stroller in seconds. Super convenient for city living or frequent travelers, but it lacks storage space and babies outgrow it by around 2 years. Perfect for the early stages though!
r/BabyBumps • Best stroller/car seat/combo ->Branded ones like bugaboo are supposed to last for three plus kids, so it’s generally safe to get second hand. There are decent cleaning services too. Doona is also a safe second hand by because kids grow out of it fairly quickly If you end up getting small, light weight and cheap, always keep your hands on it cos it can easily topple when you hang up bags or when kiddo starts squirming a lot.
r/askSingapore • Parents in Singapore, where do you get your stroller and how much was it? ->There’s a couple parts, which is why it can be confusing. Mostly has to do with the fact that newborns and infants who are not old enough yet to have control of their head and neck cannot just sit buckled into a stroller. They need to either be in a bassinet or in their infant car seat. So a lot of the strollers will be a regular stroller where you can then remove the seat and replace it with a bassinet or infant car seat. If you get a “travel system” like the UppaBaby (Vista or Cruz stroller + Aria or Mesa infant car seat) then you can swap out the parts easily without an adapter If you get a stroller than is 1 brand and a car seat that is a different brand you will also need to make sure to buy an adapter I decided to get the UppaBaby bc I didn’t want to deal with an adapter My friend for example got the Chico car seat and used an adapter to attach it to a cheaper brand of stroller From what I seen, high end is like the Nuna and UppaBaby. But plenty are happy with a Graco system as well. There’s 1 popular one called the Doona that is like a transformer which is all 1 piece and goes from car seat to stroller. Personally i checked one out (my SIL has one) and I didn’t like it. It’s a clunky thing that would only be useful if you’re traveling a lot ie getting baby in and out of a taxi in a busy city or something. I personally didn’t think it’s practical for day to day use.
r/BabyBumps • Confused by strollers, what do you recommend? ->I absolutely loved it for my first! We traveled around the world and it made everything from airports to taxis so easy.
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->Absolutely for me it is worth the convenience to pop it out and stroll around, and fold it up into my car or a booth at a restaurant. For the people who complain it is heavy, I will carry my baby if there is something I cannot stroll around for. An example, my friend lives in a 2nd floor apartment. For that I left the car seat in the car, and just carried my baby upstairs. There is really no other times the doona can't stroll with me everywhere. I will say that it does not roll on gravel or grass and for that you'd need to carry as well. I am a C-section mama and without the doona I could not have been able to do stuff. There is no way I could carry my baby in a normal carrier bc that's such a bulky thing on my arms. Whereas if I need to carry the baby on me she is tucked in wrapped close to my body in a natural position, not in big bulky carrier.
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->If you’re not using it in the airport can you look into whether you can hire one on holiday? I’ve tried lots of pushchairs and we travel a lot. We have the Doona (which a lot of people don’t like) but I LOVE it for travel because it is also a car seat (we use lots of Ubers and hire cars on holiday and business travel). It does have a weight/age limit of 2 years though. We also have the Joolz Aer+ and it’s a great compact pushchair that also has a shoulder strap to carry it when not in use. Not on your list (and not the cheapest for sure) but thought I’d share my experience! Both of these pushchairs are compact enough to bring into the cabin/put in the overhead bin. Edit: clarity
r/UKParenting • The goldilocks travel stroller - does it exist?? ->It’s heavy when you are putting it into the car or taking it out, but otherwise it’s in stroller mode so the weight is not a factor. Worth it in my opinion!
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->I’ve been in the childcare industry for several years and when the Doona first came out I thought it was stupid and a complete rip off. I couldn’t wrap my head around why anyone would spend $500 on an infant car seat when they are in it for such a short period of time. Working in this field you are exposed to all different types of baby gear and quickly learn that 80% of it is useless. While the Doona is definitely pricey & heavy I’ve changed my tune on it. I absolutely love it now! The baby I currently Nanny for has this car seat and it’s super easy to install into my car with the seat belt. It makes running errands a complete breeze because you just take the car seat out and go vs having to assembly a travel system each time. The Doona definitely isn’t light especially with a heavier baby but the thing is you’re never carrying it for long anyways, you just pop out the wheels. I went from thinking it was a silly waste of money to definitely getting one for when I have my own kids.
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->We opted for the Silver Cross Wave for everyday and Doona for travel! We will be buying the Silver Cross Jet as a travel stroller when baby outgrows Doona. The Nuna Pipa car seat is compatible with the Silver Cross Wave, we purchased the adapters.
r/BabyBumps • Please just tell me what stroller to buy ->We are not tall people, but the Doona was way too short for myself (5’6”) and my husband (5’10”). We actually decided to go with the new Evenflo Shyft Dualride this go around since it’s our 3rd and we’re always on the move with the 2 older kids. The Evenflo Shyft is much taller and lighter than the Doona that we tested out. Before this baby, we rocked a Britax for our 1st and a Graco for our 2nd.
r/BabyBumps • Help me understand -- Is Donna worth it? ->If you do a lot of traveling, I think the Doona is worth it. I would never use it on a daily basis at home because it’s very low. But it’s very convenient for the airport and means you avoid bringing both a car seat and separate stroller. However, it is going to be a short-term investment because baby will grow out of it by a year. Then you would probably want a specific travel stroller. So you could consider a travel stroller with a lay-flat option or bassinet attachment now, you’d just also need to bring the car seat. For daily use we went with the Uppababy Vista and love it for our lifestyle. We use it primarily for walks around the neighborhood and nearby trail system, to bring to the park, etc. It is bulky and not as easy to bring in the car. Now that my son is older we actually use our travel stroller (Joolz Aer) a lot if we’re just going to the mall. For infant car seats we chose the Nuna Pipa Rx Lite and I’m so glad we went with a very lightweight option.
r/BabyBumps • Stuck between Nuna and Uppababy ->Sooo Reddit hates the Doona but to be honest we loved it. But it may just work for our lifestyle more than others. Yes it is “short”, but we’re 5’4” and 5’9”, the height has never been an issue. And it is 17lbs, so it’s not light but it has wheels so it shouldn’t be carried for very long anyway. It fit into our lifestyle perfectly, we’re somewhat urban and busy parents. I just got an umbrella stroller for things like the zoo and aquarium, but otherwise the doona was great. Oh and it is the most perfectly amazing travel item. Flying is incredibly easy, it fits on the scanner at security and goes right back into being a stroller, then it can be a car seat on the plane, then the car seat in the car at your destination, then a stroller everywhere you go! It’s just great.
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->Personally, I LOVED my Doona. It was extremely convenient for daily errands and Dr appts, especially if my husband wasn’t with me. I wasn’t as strong as I am now bc I didn’t start building muscle after we stopped using the doona but I was able to lift the doona fine. At first yes, it took some getting use to and it did get heavier as my soon got bigger but I did also get strong just from lifting the doona and I wouldn’t say it was a struggle and weighed out not wanting to use it even in the future. We used the doona til my son was too tall for it, maybe til he was about 16 months. They say whichever comes first, the wt or the ht based off what the manufacturer says. The only con I didn’t like was no storage space for small shopping trips but I did get some hooks that Velcro around the handle and it held the hand baskets in stores. I curbside large grocery trips anyways. This just allowed me to get out and stroll in a store and get small items if I even did! We also took the doona on the plane when my son was 15 months old and it was amazing to put in his own seat and then use in the Ubers. I loved the combo aspect of the stroller and car seat. I know other options have come out since with the same concept & I’m sure they are great too! I can only vouch for the doona and I will definitely be holding onto it for a possible future baby #2! Edit: I’m also 5’1, had a c-section, & at the time I weighed 97 lbs (EBF was keeping very lean, not my preferred but I still was able to maneuver the doona fine!) You truly only pick it up to go in and out of the car and it’s not that difficult if you watch the videos & make sure you’re picking it up and collapsing it in a way that isn’t hurting your back, etc. The doona weighs 15 lbs without baby, just for an idea! I think it’s also way less awkward than a normal car seat as far as carrying it!
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->We got the Nuna Travel LX with the urbn infant car seat and love it. Zero regrets. It was one of the lightest strollers we demo’d and easiest to fold, pack away. I constantly take babe around town, on walks, or drive her out and about and it’s been very easy and freeing. We also traveled with it (babe is now 4.5 months) and having a car seat that easily latches in without having to also bring a base is GREAT. The stroller also came with a travel bag which was nice and the price has decreased a lot since when we bought it. I’ve heard Grace came out either something very similar to what we have for way less so worth checking out. We thought about getting the Doona but when we tried it, it was way too heavy for me to think about lifting pp and it’s also a very low stroller so you really got bend over/doen to put babe in and out. Have also heard good things about the bugaboo butterfly if you want something lightweight and travel friendly.
r/BabyBumps • Please just tell me what stroller to buy ->We find it very convenient. Is it heavy? A bit but we don't have to go up and down stairs often. We only feel the weight of it when we get it on and off the car. At any other point, we just pop the wheels down and push.
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->Its expensive and only lasts about a year until they outgrow it but I do recommend it. Its extremely convenient for normal errands in the car. Being able to just swing the entire car seat out of the car door and go was great during bad weather. We loved not messing around with getting a stroller from the trunk. We would use a bigger stroller with storage if we were out walking around all day. It doesn't have any storage and if you hang anything on the handle like 3rd party organizer bags it can easily flip. The wheels dont have suspension either so its not great on really rough surfaces. We tried using it for a couple short walks around neighborhood sidewalks and it wasn't ideal. It is on the short side but Im 6'2" and it was usable when fully extended. Again not my first choice for something like a full day at the zoo but kids shouldn't be in that car seat position that long anyway.
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->We love our Doona! It’s one of the few baby items that I actually recommend to everyone. We bought it for travel but it became our everyday car seat/stroller. We were hesitant to buy it coz it’s very expensive, but one of those things that is just worth it. I saw some people commenting about the height. My husband and I are pretty tall (5’ 8” and 6’) and we have no problems with it
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->It’s okay. It’s great when your baby is a baby. But after 18 months it’s gets to be inconvenient as you can no longer use it for a car seat or will soon have to change. Also, while it has high safety ratings in the event of a crash, it has **significantly** higher g-force rating (how much gravitational forces will your baby experience in the event of a crash? Lower is better). Meaning impact-wise, the car seat is good, but your baby will experience the forces….a lot. Also, its Head Impact/Injury Collision score was higher than others meaning a baby is **more likely** to suffer from head injuries in the event of a crash. Again, lower score is better. I went a different route and got the Nuna Rava for car seats (one of the lowest scores for both gforce and HIC recorded; they also follow European standards vs US ones as the euro standard is much more stringent).
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->We can’t live without it, and I recommend it to every new parent I know. Even if you don’t travel a lot, it’s still incredibly helpful to have a car seat that doubles as a stroller for most daily activities..
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->One of the best baby purchases we made!
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->Uppa vista and doona. Both have been incredible for different reasons. Now that she’s outgrown the doona, it’ll be replaced by a different travel stroller but it was by far our best purchase in the first year
r/NewParents • What kind of/how many strollers do people have? ->Absolutely loved it while baby was small enough for it (outgrew it at 14 months). Not sure why everyone is saying about how heavy it is. Yes, heavier than a regular infant car seat/carrier, but that’s because it’s a stroller. If I wasn’t using it as a car seat, it was in the stroller position (ie, rarely was I just carrying it). And yes the handlebars are short, but I’m used to that with any stroller as I’m 6feet tall! I was able to navigate through airport security by myself (with baby) no problem. Did not feel cumbersome when I had it in the case and wore it as a backpack getting off the jet bridge. Very easy to install with the base attachment and without. It has come in handy so so much.
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->If you’re looking for a convertible stroller to car seat, we really like our Doona.
r/NewParents • Best Travel Stroller? ->Way too heavy. Trust me and my 22 pound baby you do not wanna
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->I’m traveling tomorrow with my Doona and Joolz Aer. We are bringing the Doona on the plane and gate checking the stroller. I have the bassinet on the Joolz which is why I can’t put it in the overhead bin.
r/beyondthebump • Traveling with strollers ->It was nice for appointments when my baby was a newborn but she started hating it around two months old. She cried and screamed every car ride but was fine when it was in stroller mode. She’s now a happy camper in the car after getting a new car seat (Nuna Rava). I wish I switched seats earlier.
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->My sister in law has one and we used it for my son when I visited. He loved it and it was very convenient when he fell asleep in the car. He slept in it a lot during the trip. Yes, it's heavy to remove from the car with bub inside, but I really liked it. Unfortunately, I have a car seat and stroller already and I'm Australian, so the conversion rate was too expensive for me.
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->We got a Doona as a gift and it’s been amazingly convenient. I will be sad when he outgrows it, but we also have a Mockingbird (which is apparently very similar to the Uppababy but far less expensive) and it’s much easier to push on grass and dirt.
r/NewParents • What do I get with luxury/expensive strollers (uppababy, Nuna) over affordable ones (Chicco, Graco) ->My husband and I love it
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->We loved our doona and will be using it for our second baby. Yes, it is heavy but so convenient. It doesn’t replace a regular stroller for taking walks etc, but it is super convenient the first 10 months or so. My husband is tall and was comfortable pushing it. We also have a single to double stroller that we will use for long outings. The doona wheels aren’t really suited for outdoor use other than a parking lot.
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->How old is your baby? I have the doona and I wouldn’t buy it just for travel. It’s extremely heavy, low to the ground, and doesn’t have any storage. If you’re planning on significant walking, it’s not great. It’s really for running errands or getting from point a to b. If you already had it, it might make sense but I wouldn’t buy it now.
r/NewParents • Traveling for the first time with baby. Buy Doona? Or deal with stroller and car seat? ->Doona for travel when they’re little, Yoyo for travel when they grow out of that. Uppababy Cruz or Vista for walks in the neighborhood
r/BabyBumps • Please just tell me what stroller to buy ->So we have one for travel. I love it for trips bc I have one piece to handle instead of two (car seat and stroller), but I could never as it as my daily user. It’s way too low and I have to bend so far to comfort, give pacis, etc. and I’m only 5’4. It is heavy and bulky, and honestly feels flimsy compared to my Uppa which feels so sturdy. It’s worth it as an extra, but I wouldn’t have it be my only.
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->I have the Uppa and love it. My husband and I say all the time that we’d choose it all over again. It’s totally worth the price. We travel a lot too and did receive the Doona for travel. It’s excellent for travel to avoid bringing out hefty stroller and so we just check one piece and not a car seat and stroller base. I agree when another commenter that it is super low though so I could never use it as my daily stroller. They are both excellent for their different uses though!
r/BabyBumps • Stuck between Nuna and Uppababy ->The Vista is great--I definitely wouldn't travel with it, though. I was a serious Doona hater until my baby was about 4 months old and we started to travel with him, and it was SO worth it. All the complaints are valid (it's a dumb little stroller and I looked ridiculous at 5'10" pushing it around; it's not the lightest-weight option; they grow out of it in a year) but ultimately were unimportant, because I simply would not have taken all the trips I took, especially alone, if I'd had to deal with more complicated gear. If your daily driver is a travel stroller, anytime you want to actually travel anywhere with it you've got to get the carseat out, get all the crap out of the storage basket, fold the stupid stroller, install the stupid carseat, get yourself into the car, then do it all again in reverse when you get out--and that's not adequately describing the emotional stress you feel as a new mom leaving your baby in the backseat of a taxi while you go put the stroller in the trunk. With the Doona, because there's no storage, I had all our stuff in a backpack, and just had to fold it down and lift it in to install, and I never had to be away from the baby for even a second. I know that sounds like a small thing, but it's not when you're a new parent. If you're traveling together it's less of an issue, but there were so many little trips to museums farther uptown or to the beach in the summer that I just wouldn't have taken otherwise. It made the first year so much more fun.
r/BabyBumps • Stuck between Nuna and Uppababy ->We love ours. I’m 5’10” and don’t feel it’s too short. My wife is 5’4”. We’re both pretty fit, so the weight isn’t much of an issue. I guess I never realized that the Doona is heavy compared to others. Plus you essentially never have to carry it, other than lifting it into and out of the car. All other times it’s on wheels. The convenience is what makes it worth it though. We get so many people asking about it every single day. It makes running errands, going to the doctor etc. a breeze. We’ll be using it for our next couple baby’s as well.
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->We have the Doona and it’s great for on the go errands, etc. We also have the mockingbird which we use for hikes and rough terrain, bc the Doona wheels are not great. BUT, I will say… the Doona is sooooo heavy! I remember people told me this before we got it, and I sort of ignored it 😂 but I can barely carry it, I need my husband to do it every time lol. Definitely recommend it as something for travel, but not your only stroller.
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->Evenflo is easy, and light weight Doona is a great first start (ftm here and we have this and I love it) Nuna-also light weight and I think some models have no base required but the stroller base is heavy/larger We use doona for short trips to Dr or target and use a cyber something light weight fold up 10 lb stroller for longer walks etc. this alows us to keep the actual doona car seat in good shape.
r/BabyBumps • Please just tell me what stroller to buy ->We use it for our first and currently using it for our second. We've also flown with it. It's heavy but it's also a stroller so you'll be pushing it mostly, but it's harder to carry up steps or in and out of your car. Despite what the company says, I've never been able to wheel it down the aisle of a plane but it fits in an airplane seat no problem. I'd say build quality is above the Graco/Chicco level, the wheels are rubber which makes it a smoother ride over plastic. It's overall less plasticky with solid mechanical parts. Works just as good after 3.5 years. It doesn't have a no-rethread harness but your kid will out grow it between 1 & 2 so you'll likely have to adjust it just once. Storage bags and cup holders are extra. It's pricey but it's both a car seat and a stroller. The handle is too low to the ground for some, I'm "5'8" and I hunch over a bit pushing it. It's got unique pros and cons and you gotta decide if the pros are worth it over a traditional car seat-stroller combo. I'd also look into the EvenfFlo Shyft because that one you can separate the car seat from the stroller legs.
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->Yes I love it. Super convenient- especially for travel
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->We have an uppa baby vista v2 with the bassinet attachment (used bassinet until baby was about 3 months then switched to infant insert. We use this stroller to walk around our neighborhood, big outings (like zoo or mall), and for walking to and from daycare. We have a doona. We use this for on the go like running errands, eating at restaurants (much smaller footprint in the restaurant than the vista), and flying to visit our families out of state (no car seats there and easy to put into any family members car). We just pre ordered the uppa baby minu v3 for travel/when LO outgrows the doona. I also wanted something more compact (it will fit into a closet when stored away). I’m probably in the minority but I could buy 10 strollers and have a reason for each of them. I think there’s so many things that are specific to everyone’s lives that you have to consider. What works for me might work for you or it may not.
r/NewParents • What kind of/how many strollers do people have? ->It is heavy, but I loveeeeee my Doona so much. The overall convenience is so so worth the few seconds of lifting for me. And I’m an extra small petite lady. It’s not that bad.
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->Best thing ever specially for travel! Couldn’t have do t it without it. I actually went through security wearing my baby on carrier and then plopped baby in doona after that
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->I agonized over which stroller to get and ended up with a Nuna system (car seat, stroller, and bassinet). We are a family that walks in our neighborhood a TON. My husband brags that he has put over 250 miles on this thing while on paternity leave. The bassinet was particularly good when in the newborn stage and stroller naps were a daily occurrence. Laying flat really is the safest option for sleep. I wouldn’t feel comfortable letting baby sleep in a Doona or any car seat regularly. We also live in a climate where we get four seasons, all of which can be pretty brutal. Doona did not make sense for ice, mud, grass, bumpy sidewalks, and otherwise uneven terrain. If the Nuna Mixx Next stroller had the suspension of a monster truck, the Doona was more like a golf cart. I felt super confident we made the right decision by choosing the more robust Nuna system! Until we started booking travel and trying to figure out a car seat/stroller situation. And trying to take baby to restaurants. And shopping. It became so tedious to take this huge stroller in and out of the trunk. Or maneuvering its huge foot print through restaurants or stores. Or risking gate checking $1200+ of Nuna baby gear and praying it wouldn’t be trashed by grounds crew. In the end we bought the Doona in addition to our Nuna system when baby was four months old. It was basically the cost of a plane ticket for baby and her car seat, or the cost of renting baby gear at our destination a couple times, or the cost of nuna’s warranty-protected stroller and car seat bag. Plus our baby is very small and will likely use the Doona close to 15-18 months. We realized there were enough scenarios to warrant the extra $500 cost for an extra smaller stroller for indoor use and travel. I realize this isn’t possible for most families to buy multiple strollers. My take away from our experience is that the Doona could work for a primary stroller if you literally never ever intend to use it outdoors or to walk any significant distances. Otherwise, most will require a more robust stroller for typical activities and would benefit from the Doona for travel and indoor use only. We literally cannot use our Doona in our neighborhood because the sidewalk cracks will send you and the baby tumbling. If you have an extra $500 in your budget for a second stroller, great. But the Doona has such a narrow use case that I wouldn’t think it’s wise to have this be your one and only stroller.
r/beyondthebump • What do y’all think about the doona? ->I cannot speak to the bugaboo stroller but a lot of airlines restrict size/weight of stroller that can be gate checked! So definitely check specifically with the airline before considering bringing. I always advocate for cheap travel car seats. In the US there is Cosco Scenera. They stack, hard to damage, and easy to check. And then a good travel stroller that is gate check or carryon compatible. Unfortunately, I am not familiar with what is available in Europe. However if you plan on not renting a car and need something easily transferred from Ubers. I think you can look into the baby trend snap and go or a similar stroller frame and just use your current infant seats. Much cheaper than two Doonas. Personally, I hated the doona. It was hot and uncomfortable for baby compared to other infant seats. It was also really bad as a stroller (no storage, horrid suspension, and terrible ergonomics for anyone average height or taller). You’ll get a lot more out of investing in a good travel stroller or a cheaper stroller frame.
r/parentsofmultiples • Traveling with 4-Month-Old Twins – What’s the Smartest Gear Setup for Flights + 2 Weeks Abroad? ->We have it and its been our primary stroller for 14 months now!! I don’t know what I’d do without it.
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->Doona for first year (this is a divisive one but I LOVED ours and found it was worth every penny; also great if you plan to take any Ubers or Lyfts) then Yoyo. Both are compact options that store nicely, don’t take up too much space when you’re out. Also, a stroller wrist strap gave me a little extra piece of mind for hills.
r/AskSF • Parents Question --Which Stroller to buy for SF living? ->All of the above! Went with the Stokke Yoyo and love it, mostly because it’s super compact and durable. I live in a city where I mostly walk instead of drive. We also live in a smallish apartment instead of a house so a very small footprint matters. With my four-year-old, I previously had the Doona (great for the city but such a short duration of use) and the Nuna Triv (did not care for the suspension and found the seems of the wheels started to split after significant mileage, but this may not be a big deal if you aren’t walking as much). We bought him a secondhand, older generation Yoyo for travel and then switched to it as his primary. That thing was in great shape for its age! For my infant, we bought a new Yoyo with the newborn attachment and so far it’s been great. Very easy to fold even with the flat newborn feature.
r/moderatelygranolamoms • Moms, what attracted you to buy that stroller? ->It was only worth it when we traveled. Our baby outgrew it just over 3 months. It’s tiny
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->Any thoughts on icandy? We have one and a doona but the doona gets used more!
r/daddit • My wife has a crazy addiction to buying strollers. So we’ve tried em all. ->You can just use the doona as your travel stroller. And yeah get a jogging stroller for all your hiking and recreational stuff For other travel needs, use baby quip to rent stuff at your destination
r/BabyBumps • Am I being naive in wanting an absolute UNICORN of a stroller? Or do I just need to accept that I actually need three strollers? ->I absolutely LOVED our Doona. If we ever have a second, we will 10000% shell out the money again. My son outgrew it a month or two before he hit 1.5. Yes it’s heavy, but it really only mattered when I was taking it in or out of the car. I never had to be one of those poor souls lugging around a bucket seat 🤣
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->Loved it so much! Best baby purchase we made. Yes, it’s heavier but you don’t carry it, you roll it. Amazing for travel. And so compact that I could put baby in it, and then roll it around house with me as I finished getting ready. We did get a FB marketplace jogging stroller for when he got older - for like $20 and the combo of that for neighborhood or off road and doona for everything else in life was perfect. 10/10
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->If she’s in your lap and you already have a car seat and stroller, I’d just check those. The doona is expensive and doesn’t have storage underneath, so I don’t find it to be a good “travel” stroller. It’s only convenient for the actual airport. It’s also quite short in case either you or your partner are tall. When we flew with our daughter with her in the lap, we would check the car seat with our baggage, and use our travel stroller or carrier in the airport. I check the stroller at the gate just to have less things on board. Alternatively, when we had a seat for her on the plane with the car seat, we would just strap the car seat to our carry on rolling case. A few times she was asleep in her seat when we landed and rather than wake her up we just put the car seat on top of our stroller and carefully rolled it that way. It actually worked really well. I was very happy to have a proper stroller on the ground.
r/NewParents • Traveling for the first time with baby. Buy Doona? Or deal with stroller and car seat? ->I immediately got one (secondhand) for my infant after a single day of trying to carry a newborn in a car seat to pre-k drop off for my oldest. If you’re in a similar scenario, I’d highly recommend. It’s also handy for quick pop in to the store, when you don’t need/want a full stroller or baby wearing. I never ever carry it, it’s heavy AF.
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->I would probably buy a separate car seat and your regular stroller and skip the Doona. I LOVED our Doona, but it’s not for a European vacation
r/Mommit • Should we bring our main stroller to Italy? ->We loved our Donna and got 19 months out of it before #1 grew out of it! Now w rate using it for #2! It was our only car seat and stroller as we didn’t have room for anything else in our small apartment in LA.
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->Yes! We use it for traveling and love it! But wouldn’t purchase it solely for everyday life
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->The doona is great if your child is still pretty young. Once they are used to an outward facing stroller it kind of annoys them. Or at least that was my experience
r/NewParents • Traveling for the first time with baby. Buy Doona? Or deal with stroller and car seat? ->Our trips were so easy with the doona. I got one used just for the flights and I have no regrets. I’ll likely be able to sell it for not much of a loss. It’s really made for this application
r/NewParents • Travel stroller for 0-6 months: best solution? ->Wife had the Doona (car seat with wheels that pop down and et voila - stroller) and yeah it’s not the most comfortable stroller for me ( taller guy) to push around but goddamn does it make parents of older kids goggle in amazement at the airport when you fold that sumbitch up and carry it onto the plane.
r/daddit • My wife has a crazy addiction to buying strollers. So we’ve tried em all. ->We LOVED ours. It made traveling so much easier especially if it is just me. (We also used it to fly - it can buckle in any car) By no means am I super strong, I’m a runner and lean so while getting it in and out of my car wasn’t the easiest task, it was doable and worth being able to pop out the wheels as a stroller in 1 second. I remember reading people complain if they are tall - my husband is over 6’ and didn’t find it annoying. We went to a speciality store to try it out first, so if you want to check the weight and ability to convert it, maybe go there? We do have the uppababy ridge for active walks and runs.
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->We loved ours! My husband is 6’2” and it’s was not his fave but it was manageable. We did not use it as our main stroller but used it as our car seat until he was 10 months old. It was so handy not to have to lug a car seat around—he slept in it in restaurants and we always had it in stroller mode.
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->I have to recommend the Doona car seat/stroller for the first year. Great for travel, great for every day errands, great for just a car seat to take in and out of the house to keep out of weather. Slightly pricey, but very worth it. Eliminates the need for a car seat *and* stroller when traveling. Can be checked at the gate (I recommend a travel bag for this). I also recommend the detachable base for your car at home (you can get more than one, so one for your car, one for husband’s car) and use a seatbelt to secure it when traveling. The only time we used an actual stroller for the first year was during walks. We used the Uppa Baby vista we bought on fb marketplace for very cheap. Those retail for very pricey, but last a very long time (ours was seven years old when we got it and still works great). We really didn’t end up using this as much as we thought we would. Still nice to have for walks through the neighborhood or things like going to the zoo, but not something I recommend for travel. Honestly, once my kid started walking around a year old, we never used the stroller. My kid wanted to walk everywhere. I do like a good stroller wagon for things like the zoo, especially with multiple kids. I don’t have a recommendation for that yet—still looking for the right one for myself. For the record, I love my 360 car seat since my kid outgrew the Doona. It’s the only one he’ll need for a long time and the 360 feature is a game changer. If you still really want a travel stroller, I definitely recommend a nice small one that can fit in the overhead compartment on a plane. My sister has one and loves it. Can’t remember the brand, but they’re all good.
r/Mom • STROLLER(s)??? ->I worked at a baby store in college so I used to sell strollers to all types of people. I’m also a FTM and recently purchased one for myself. I will say that it’s an extremely personal choice - what works for you and yours may not work for me. For example, I live in a city with rough brick sidewalks - so good wheels and suspension were important to us. We also haven’t met our baby yet and don’t know what their temperament will be, so shelling out $800+ for a stroller seems risky. I have plenty of friends/family who have expensive strollers collecting dust in their cars/basements. We looked at the UppaBaby, Nuna, and a lot of the other popular systems on the market and decided they wouldn’t work for us. We loathed the Doona (my husband is 6’5) and weren’t overly impressed with the Graco / Chiccos we saw at Target. We found a boxed and brand new Baby Jogger City Mini at a discount store and bought it for a great price. My husband is obsessed with it already. It’s a brand I used to sling at the store and it’s very functional / in line with what we were looking for. I suggest testing out as many as possible, if you can. There aren’t many baby stores left, but Nordstrom has some on display. Rei might as well. Target as a few. Unsure about Walmart. And I think talking to parents who are out and about when you see them pushing strollers can be helpful. But default on your own judgement and prioritize your needs. Also, if your baby is going to be born in colder months, or if you’re not ready to commit to a brand/type, you may want to hold off or just get a snap n go system.
r/BabyBumps • Confused by strollers, what do you recommend? ->I initially bought a large expensive one that looked really nice. But I took it out in my local town and couldn’t get around any shops or restaurants. The worst time was when I had to get a whole table of people out of their seats in a restaurant to get by 🙈 after that I bought the Doona which is so small it looks like a toy pram but also folds down into a car seat. It’s not ‘pretty’ but it’s the one I use everytime!
r/NewParents • Strollers - what did you wish you knew before you bought? ->I’m a doona stan personally and I was so on the fence about it until we had our baby. You can’t beat the convenience IMO. Yes it’s heavy, but you only have to carry it in and out of the car and once you pop the wheels out, you’re good to go. You don’t have to lug a carrier on your arm everywhere you go. Yeah it doesn’t have storage but neither does any other car seat, this one is just able to extend out into a “stroller” but it’s really just a car seat on wheels. You want to go out to eat? Baby is right there at the table chilling in the car seat ar booth/chair level, you can run errands quickly, it’s just easy to push that little thing around. We have an uppababy Cruz for our main stroller which we love but is quite cumbersome/bulky compared to the doona and we travel a good bit, and will be taking our LO on her first flight at 6 months and will be doing a lot of walking on our trip and are so thankful to have it. But that’s just us!
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->Ours is so convenient for my small car (don’t HAVE to carry an extra stroller in it) but the doona is so heavy that I basically just leave it in the car as much as possible so I don’t have to carry it up and down our apartment stairs. I’m 5’2”, and the doona is pretty low to the ground but my 6’3” hubby doesn’t complain. I also don’t love the idea of my babe being in a car seat for super long so I have a Mompush bassinet stroller. But for quick trips like the doctors office and the convenience of not HAVING to pack an extra stroller (even though I do) it’s nice. My dad gifted us the doona. Otherwise I probably would have started with a Nuna or convertible car seat.
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->Personally, I absolutely love the Doona. It’s made our lives so much easier. We do not use it as our main stroller — as others have mentioned, it’s pretty short/small and doesn’t have storage underneath. But aside from it making travel a breeze, it’s great when you’re popping out quickly to go to a pediatricians office, run an errand, etc. it is so so so convenient. I dread the day I have to take our baby out of her car seat and put her in a stroller just to go to a store for 10 minutes! Not sure why others talk about it being so heavy — aside from physically putting into the car, I’m never carrying it like a car seat. I pop it up to the stroller setting right away.
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->We bought Doona for taxi rides from Shoope and selling it after 15 months. It is quite practical because you can use both as car seat and stroller. Just note that it is not recommended to use longer periods as it is not that comfortable for the baby. We bought another stroller for neighborhood walks and places that we can reach with MRT. It is a second hand Joolz Day 3 stroller bought from Carousell. Very happy with both of them. If your budget is limited, dont need to spend too much money on it - buy a good condition, branded second hand stroller.
r/askSingapore • Parents in Singapore, where do you get your stroller and how much was it? ->I used to for a while when I visited my family in California. It really depends on your lifestyle but I personally did not like it. As a car seat, it’s okay I guess, but I don’t think my girl was that comfortable in it. It’s also fairly bulky so be sure to do a test fit. It can also be tricky getting it out of a tight parking spot. As a stroller I would say it’s extremely limited. As another poster mentioned, it’s very short. It also has no storage and no suspension, so it’s only good for short trips on smooth terrain. I would never get it myself as we usually walk around the city and only use the car occasionally. Even if we used the car regularly, like I said it’s not great over rough terrain, so I wouldn’t take it to the park, or city etc. I guess there’s a niche if it was your second car seat for your other car.
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->Check out the Bugaboo Butterfly. Self folding/unfolding. For a newborn, please listen to me…. GET THE DOONA.
r/daddit • Wife is 15 weeks - went down a stroller rabbit hole… ->I LOVED ours, literally the best baby item we had. They really aren’t that heavy, my daughter used it until 10 months.
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->We got it for traveling - it’s FAA approved and useful for hopping in and out of Lyfts. We then used it until my son out grew it for the convenience being out and about. We saved it and plan to use it for our new baby. We also plan on getting a stroller that can hold a toddler and a baby (2 in 1) for other situations where our toddler also needs to sit in a stroller.
r/BabyBumps • Help me understand -- Is Donna worth it? ->The Doona has been perfect for my husband’s car and stroller. It is heavy, but it’s so convenient for traveling and needing a compact stroller for restaurants etc.
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->Someone gave us their old one so I can't compare it to another brand. Personally, my wife and I love it. We have two of the bases installed in each our car and it makes our lives easier. Granted I am 5'7 140lbs and she's 5'5 around the same weight and we have no issues getting it in and out our cars (Hyundai sonata and Honda HRV) I can't imagine having a carseat always in my car and having to bring an additional stroller when we go out.
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->We have a bugaboo car seat and stroller, but I went overseas with my baby when he was 10-11 months old. I wasn’t going to be hiring a car and would be going from car to car (family/friends’ cars plus Ubers) so the Doona was the perfect solution for us. We didn’t use it on the plane so I can’t speak to that - we just checked it and had the baby on our laps - but it was amazing during our trip, so convenient and quick to get in/out of cars. The handle is low and the wheels are small (so I wouldn’t consider it as my main stroller) and there is no storage (so if you’re like me and hate carrying things you need a bag that hangs off the handle) but it’s such a great solution for a very specific use-case.
r/beyondthebump • What do y’all think about the doona? ->We loved ours. I’m 5’0 and my husband is 6’1. The height to push the stroller never bothered us. It was just so easy to be on the go everywhere we went. It was that much less planning on our part too. Didn’t have to worry about packing a stroller, it went with us. It is a heavier car seat but I never carried it. I rolled my baby every where. The wheels are smooth too. We definitely miss ours now that our baby has gotten too heavy for it.
r/BabyBumps • Help me understand -- Is Donna worth it? ->I had one and the only time I ever really used it was when I flew or an unexpected errand. For flying it's amazing I think but otherwise idk a good stroller is a better investment if you're on a budget.
r/BabyBumps • Help me understand -- Is Donna worth it? ->I LOVE my Doona. We're still using it at 14 months. It is a little heavy, but you just have to lift it in and out of the car. I do keep a lightweight travel stroller in my trunk. I had a big bassinet stroller when my baby was little that I almost never used. It's also really convenient for travel. You can just fold it up and bring it on the plane as your carseat. It doesn't have a basket, though.
r/beyondthebump • What do y’all think about the doona? ->I've loved the Doona for travel, but I'm usually visiting my parents who have a separate stroller there. It is great for the airport and folds up to use as your car seat on the plane. I will say that my 19-month-old was not having it this trip on the plane, but we haven't traveled in a few months and I think he just didn't understand what was even going on. He's about to grow out of it but my husband is really attached. We've loved it for our car seat as well. Not looking forward to figuring out the airport with the convertible carseat and travel stroller, though
r/BabyBumps • Stuck between Nuna and Uppababy ->I’m obsessed with mine as a luxury or convenience item. I’ve taken baby on vacation and it was a lifesaver and so easy to fly with. Easier to bring 1 item than both stroller and car seat. Also I love it for quick trips to appointments, library time, daycare drop off or quick run into store. If baby falls asleep in car no stress about taking them out of the car seat and waking her up. I do have another stroller for walks though. I would never take the doona on a walk! It is very short, my husband is 6’ 2’’ and feels awkward pushing it. Not a smooth ride over bumps. I think it’s a really nice item to have, but definitely not a necessity.
r/BabyBumps • Help me understand -- Is Donna worth it? ->We don't travel (by plane) often, but I do tend to go out around town a lot on short grocery trips, etc. For that reason, we got the Doona. We also liked that we were able to move it from car to car without needing multiple bases. (We are in the US) We used it daily for about 10 months, until we decided to upgrade to a convertible car seat for both of our cars. We also purchased a good used condition large stroller on our local Facebook marketplace page for things like zoo outings etc.
r/NewParents • Strollers - what did you wish you knew before you bought? ->I looooove the Doona for travel and loved it for errands, appointments etc when bb was smaller. However, it would be terrible in the snow, imo. Where are you headed? Vacation or to see family? We have baby gear at my mom's across country. Babyquip is interesting but the delivery fees have been too high anywhere we might have used it.
r/NewParents • Traveling for the first time with baby. Buy Doona? Or deal with stroller and car seat? ->Absolutely loved it. Used it for many plane trips and it was my carseat so I could pop in and out of places quickly when it was just me and the babe. It's short but my husband had no issues with it. It's also heavy but I had absolutely no problem lifting it myself. We were able to use it for longer than a year and I was so sad when we outgrew it. I've seen a slightly more affordable version at Target.
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->It’s legitimately one of our top purchases. Great for everyday errands and around town, plus it means my wife and I can split daycare drop off and pickup very easily. Yes, it’s a little heavier than other carseats, but you literally only lift it in and out of the car and then roll it everywhere else. IMO, that’s easier on the arms than constantly carrying the carseat or infant. My wife and I are both pretty average sized though. We know a couple where mom is 5’ and dad is 6’ 6” and it didn’t really work for either of them (too heavy and too short) so ymmv.
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->I don’t really go out much so our doona is really good for small errands. We recently went to the zoo though and used it, I didn’t like it. I bought the uppababy minu v3 and it’s small, light weight and has a handle to fold and carry. It’s really good. I do wish I got the nuna though; only bc I can face my baby and they can see me.
r/NewParents • Strollers - what did you wish you knew before you bought? ->Tried my cousins for a bit and hated it. I genuinely don’t get the hype. She also was trying to sell it because of the short usage window and the safety issues with having a baby be in a car seat stroller for extended periods of time. You’re better off with a regular infant seat that could click into a stroller base or my new favorite - the Chicco Fit360.
r/BabyBumps • Help me understand -- Is Donna worth it? ->Doona has been top purchase for us. I’d say compared to the other stroller/car seat we have (even flo) it’s heavy, but significantly more convenient. We use the evenflo for longer walks, but for car travel, plane travel, convenience sake, it cannot be beat. (Wife agrees - average sized woman and she still can lift it in/out of outlander SUV).
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->We have the butterfly as our main stroller which I love. For travel - we have the cosco scenera. I prefer to have one dedicated for travel because the airlines beat it up and this one is very light weight and easy to install. Prior to that, I used the doona for travel until my son grew out of it. I also used it just for travel because it wasn’t a great stroller for everyday.
r/Buyingforbaby • Travel + everyday stroller and rotating car seat ->I love my Uppababy Vista. Highly recommend. I am getting a Doona for baby #2. I resisted for baby #1 and now I kind of regret it because we could have reused it. The Doona is just so handy for quick trips, day care drop offs, etc. I’m a stickler about not leaving them in the car seat unnecessarily though, so other than super quick stuff, we’ll use the Vista bassinet which we used the heck out of last time for walks, longer outings, etc.
r/BabyBumps • Stuck between Nuna and Uppababy ->I have the Doona and I live in a city/urban area. I absolutely love it. It makes traveling so easy. I understand it has less utility since my baby will eventually age out of it, but being able to quickly get in and out of the car and get around town is worth it. It takes me a fraction of the time to go places compared to my friend who has the UPPAbaby Vista. I have a hand-me-down Bugaboo too, but I haven’t tried it out yet. I’ll be using that once my baby gets older.
r/BabyBumps • Confused by strollers, what do you recommend? ->I have the UPPAbaby travel system with the bassinet attachment for daily use and a Doona for travel
r/BabyBumps • Do most people have and use both a regular stroller AND a travel stroller? ->I live in a city, and it’s perfect for using the subway, going up the elevator to our apartment, and zipping down the sidewalks. We also take Baby to lots of restaurants, museums, coffee shops etc with it and it’s perfect to tuck in next to us. The Doona has a good rating as a car seat, but not great. We don’t drive too frequently so I felt okay making that decision to sacrifice car seat safety for the convenience of the tiny stroller. We also have a used Uppa Vista, which we also love, buts it’s not as nimble.
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->Doona was one of the BEST THINGS we bought ever! I am 5 ft tall and hubby is 6 feet 1. We both have no issues. We have been using it since newborn leaving the hospital and just used it to go out for a quick dinner date in nyc with our 15 months old in it. Sadly going to grow out of it like next week or two but seriously hands down the best thing ever. We have traveled with it both domestic and international flights. Easy to run errands. Uber. Nyc. You name it. We are on the go. Too bad I can no longer use it but we loved it so much that we bought the doona trike lol It really worth the hype. Parenting made easy as they say…..Good luck!!
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->It is 1000% worth the hype. I don’t find it heavy like people always say here, and I’m not very strong. It’s so easy to use. I bought one for a trip across the country, have used it on the plane and in the cars here. It’s such an easy set up and go. My child is 90th percentile (in 12 month clothes at 6.5 months) and my weak butt is still able to get her in and out of the car and airplane. It has a tiny bit of trouble with bigger bumps, but it’s not half as bad as people describe here and it’s perfect for the airport. I love it, and I wish I got it sooner. I might have felt more compelled to travel earlier.
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->I absolutely loved our Doona especially during the newborn phase! Quick errands and appointments were a breeze.
r/beyondthebump • What do y’all think about the doona? ->I see a lot of hate in the thread for it being low and heavy. I’m 5’2” and maybe slightly above average strength for a female? Idk, I don’t do much to develop my strength, but I had no issues with our Doona. I kind of panic bought ours before I was doing solo flights with our LO when she was 3 months. We used it until she reached 18 months and I think ~25lbs? It got heavier towards the end, but still manageable. We really only moved away from it when we did because she started to look squeezed and she loved to walk when we were out. 5’10” husband used our Doona frequently as well. He did complain about the height occasionally, but still remarked on the convenience factor and that “We are definitely keeping this for our next kid”
r/NewParents • Has anyone tried the Doona car seat/stroller? Is it really worth the hype? ->i went to nordstrom and tested them all out. they had a lot of strollers on display. there's also a babylist showroom in beverly hills, so i popped in there to check out basically everything else. everyone i know RAVED about the uppababy vista, but i absolutely hated it when i tried it out in store (and i kept coming back to it and trying to "get it" and just couldn't!). everyone also told me how great the doona was, but i also hated that because it's super short and i'm tall. i ended up with nuna mixx next + nuna pipa carseat and have no complaints so far!
r/BabyBumps • How did you choose a stroller and car seat? ->
