"I really like the fact that baby can lie down flat, it's been useful for diaper changes and naps on the go."
"lays fully flat and you can adjust the positioning, great for diaper changes on the go if theres no change tables around"
"Lays completely flat and she slept like a rock in it when we were out and about."

"Folds away and you can put it in the overhead thingy in a plane and takes up little room in a boot."
"It folds super easy and it’s very light and compact, it folds up small enough to go into an overhead compartment on a plane."
"The other stroller is a smaller one that folds up and is made for travel called Ergobaby Metro+. ... I can fit it on the floor behind the front passenger seats so I have my trunk back! ... It's 10" wide x 20" tall folded up."

"I wanted something that would hold up to the cobblestone/ uneven sidewalks ... Knowing that it's held up when pushing in ice and snow this winter gives me confidence it'll hold up for our European trip in September."
"it has been basically offroading and doing cobblestone streets daily. it is a beast. ... we have TESTED this thing - and it's amazing."
"We took this to Rome last fall and it held up incredibly well with all of the cobblestones."

"What I love most about the Metro+ is the extendable handlebar and the design without a straight-across rear axel. ... If you or your partner are tall, or just ever have issues kicking the stroller when you walk, you will definitely have those issues at Disney, especially when you walk quickly, and this is the only travel stroller I’ve tried that makes it so I can’t kick the stroller."

"Basket is fairly small, so we tend to keep our diaper bag clipped to the handle, and since the stroller is so lightweight, it will tip over if we take our kid out when the backpack is still there."
"I agree the basket isn't as big ... To be honest it's a much smaller basket than I remember and now that baby is bigger with more things to store, my anello bag no longer fits."
"The basket size is the only downside. It couldn't fit my fully packed diaper backpack, but we didn't mind wearing it so not really an issue."

"There is no one someone can hold their baby and unfold this easily at the same time. ... It’s a 2 person or put down your baby job"
"I always struggled with the mechanism for the metro+, and never liked that sometimes I would have to use both hands"
"Defs agree it does not open with one hand."

"the canopy clicks very loudly when being opened/closed so you want to make sure it’s fully open before baby falls asleep"

"the seat doesn't go fully vertical, which annoyed my 15 month old when we were sight seeing"
"the metro+ would often fall over in the trunk"

"It’s not made for hiking ... It wouldn’t do well if there are lots of roots and uneven steep areas though."
"Haven’t tried snow - it’s too low to get over much deeper snow."
"can't really use it on a trail/gravel roads etc"
Also you already have the Metro 3 and the only criteria it doesn't meet is the easy fold/unfold? I would not spend the cost of the stroller and the shipping/duties on an EU version of the bugaboo just for an easier unfold. If you're going to spend that amount of money why not look into something completely different like the Joolz Aer+ or another travel stroller all together. Personally I have the ergobaby metro+ and I can't compare it to the Metro 3 but sure the unfold is a little clunky but it has never caused me so much stress or issues that I would replace it.
I would prioritize a stroller with lie flat over parent facing. I know it's weird to get used to them facing out but the lie flat is clutch for naps on the go and will be a feature you use for a long time. My (very big) 11mo can still nap in our travel stroller. Also that way you're certain your 3.5mo will be comfortable and is not in a position that could cause some harm. We have the ergobaby metro+ which is light and I could definielhy carry up stairs but isn't a one handed open. I think it's an amazing travel stroller for the price point but if you're willing to spend more there are probably better ones out there like the joolz aer.
In my research there were lots of people saying although their stroller met the size requirements they were still asked to gate check it, just FYI. We went with the ergobaby metro+. Not quite budget but on the cheaper side (also got it on Black Friday so it was even a better deal). Can't compare it as it's the only one we've tried but we're happy with it. It lies flat, has a nice sun shade, adjustable handle bar, does meet the overhead bin requirements for most airlines. We also got the bag which allows it to be worn like a backpack. It's a bit weird as a backpack but it's also handy in a pinch.
I got it on Black Friday 2024 from ergobaby's site for $289. That was the absolute lowest I had seen it and was watching around that time. It's only our travel stroller but I love it and I think it's soon going to become the one we leave in the car for quick errands now that our LO is getting older and the snow is gone. We are also a Cruz as a main stroller family but it is huge and so much for a quick in and out.
We're another Cruz and egro metro+ family and I'm really really happy with the combo. I actually love the metro+ so much. There are probably better travel stroller out there but in the 2-300 price range it really was the best I could find while researching and I don't regret it one bit.
My 10mo old is similar and we use the ergobaby metro+. He seems very comfy when it's fully reclined and it has a great canopy and adjustable footrest. We got it when he was younger and when we thought he was more of an 80% percentile kid not an off the charts kid so I'm not sure of how it will do in the next year since I didn't look into it but as of right now we're really happy with it. We have the regular not deluxe and not the 3, so I'm not sure if it's still made anymore since I know they came out with a new one. It was also a great price point for what it is.
We have the ergobaby metro+ which I believe has been discontinued but if you can find it we love it especially for the price point. Regardless I would never get one that couldn’t lay flat for this age/young toddlers because it makes naps on the go so much easier. My big 14mo can still nap in it comfortably.
We love our ergobaby metro+. Its in a cheaper price category than the yoyo so it wont be quite as nice but it does recline fully flat which is a feature we use a ton for naps on the go even when they can sit up properly. We also used the regular uppababy seat reclined all the way back with the infant sung seat cushion as another option for your current stroller. Since it’s the regular seat it’ll be plenty long.
We have this and love it but it's discontinued. If you find it used though it is a really good stroller in a lower price range than a lot of the travel strollers.
We have the Ergobaby metro+ (not deluxe) and love it and got it for $270 which was so much cheaper than a lot of the other ones. It lies totally flat and has a massive sunshade. I think they might be discontinuing it in favour of their new Metro 3 but it's on sale at Best Buy right now.
No it's not one hand unfold but unlike some reviews I saw I find it really easy. I can see how that's handy but on our trips we haven't really been escalators and when we have run into them there have always elevators close enough that we didn't mind just taking a little detour. Plus my LO doesn't love the stroller so the in and out is confusing and annoying to him because he doesn't want to be put back in sometimes.
We are happy with our ergobaby metro+ but I think that exact model has been discontinued but it seems to be available on some sites still. It does fit in the overhead bin however we've always gate checked it for our convenience and haven't had issues. The joolz aer and the stokke yoyo are really popular but we wanted something cheaper. However regardless of the stroller be prepared for them to tell you they have to gate check it, especially if you already have other carryons. If you really really don't want to you'll want a bag for the stroller and put it in the bag well before boarding so that they don't immediately clock it as a stroller when you walk by.
My LO is 16mo old and we have 2. A full size one (uppababy cruz bought while pregnant) and a travel stroller (ergobaby metro+). I would say the cruz is used more but we do use the travel stroller far more than for just travel. I think that's enough for us as he's almost at full time daycare and does walk (just not always exactly where we want) so how often we use a stroller is going to be less and less. A wagon might be in our future.
I had an older model Ergobaby Metro but I did not like how when it's folded, the seat is exposed, if that makes sense. It gets dirtier if you are bringing it around, on a plane, etc. I have the Bugaboo butterfly and when you fold it, the seat folds into itself, so the seat is protected from the elements, like grease, etc. I really love the Butterfly but it is a but short (according to my husband) and the seat is not super upright, same issue with the Joolz Aer. Uppababy Minu and Nuna Trvl are pretty better based on what you're looking for. They're both on sale at Bloomingdale's for Black Friday and if you combine with 12% Rakuten cashback, they're a great deal and I haven't seen lower prices anywhere else. We have this one, the ergobaby metro plus. For our daily, we have the bugaboo Fox 5, which is a big leap in terms of weight, storage and overall feel. Folds for security, fits in overhead, fits in trunk of cars. https://ergobaby.com/metro-compact-city-stroller-slate-grey?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=ToF_PerformanceMax_Stroller&utm_term=—&utm_content=—&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAADk2sN1y763-dLxUv4suQLCiwoxAq&gclid=Cj0KCQjw16O_BhDNARIsAC3i2GDT-hb5toem7OiG-_rRORP_4qAxYhM5al-5Qh7N1BGMBrQPyvSzJ4UaAp4gEALw_wcB
We brought the Ergo Baby Metro Plus. It is an our daily stroller- but also folds up to fit in the overhead cabin on a plane (very compact!). It is slim, and can lay down completely flat when the child is inside for naps if needed. It’s a pricier stroller- but we have had it for 2 years now and it’s been a breeze! On the boat itself, we only used it when waiting in line for character meet & greets, we carried her, or she walked the other times when she was 18 months when we went on the Fantasy for a week. It fit under the bed with no issue when we weren’t using it!
We like our ergobaby metro + It fits in the airplane overhead compartments, has a nice sunshade, and it fully reclines if baby falls asleep in it.
Ergobaby Metro+. Even fits into overhead carriers! Very lightweight and compact.
Ergobaby metro
Third the metro+. It is my in the car stroller as well as my travel stroller. It is not flimsy and sturdy for its size. The trifold helps with that I think, rather than folding umbrellas style. I just took it to Mexico and it was fine on the dirt/gravel roads. Before I got it, I remember reading review that it handled cobblestones well enough. It does have some suspension. I’ll be taking it to Ireland in the spring to test out!
The Metro+ goes down flat and is newborn safe. I have it and really like it. The uppababy minu is another good option and could maybe use the same adaptors as your vista?
I have an Ergobaby Metro+ that I love as well. It is my travel stroller, but it would be totally good enough as my main stroller. I keep it in the car for on the go as well.
You aren’t going to get a travel friendly jogging stroller. I would just baby wear for hikes while travelling. For a car seat friendly travel stroller, I would recommend the ergobaby metro 3. It is newborn friendly even without the car seat as it has a bassinet mode. You would have to get a car seat that works with the adaptors. I have the older version (Metro+) and love it. It’s been on 5 plane trips, with two out of country. We just came back from Ireland this week and it was great.
I can fit an adult size day backpack full of stuff underneath mine.
The ergobaby metro is a great travel stroller!
Yeah, I’ve taken mine to Ireland, Mexico, and a number of trips in Canada. Been great every time!
The metro+ isn’t one hand fold/unfold. That’s really the only thing irritating about it.
I love my Ergobaby Metro and it can be used from newborn.
I have taken my Ergobaby metro+ on 3 plane trips within Canada, to Mexico, and Ireland. I love it. There’s a new version, the metro 3.
I have the metro+ (precursor to metro 3) and love it. The only thing that is a bit annoying is the 2 hand fold, but I know they changed that for the metro 3! My 22 month old is still very comfortable in it. I have never actually put it in an overhead bin, just gate checked it. But I’ve taken it on 3 plane trips in Canada, to Mexico, and to Ireland. It lives in my car, so it’s our main out and about stroller.
My metro+ fits in the footwell between my toddlers car seat and the front seat.
And I have a Toyota matrix, not an SUV. So an SUV should be fine
I love my ergobaby metro+ (precursor to metro 3). I’ve never tried to take it as carry on though. It’s been on 5 plane trips and 2 different countries though.
This question is asked a lot, so I recommend using the search function. You’ll get lots of recent discussion, including several from the last week. I have the ergobaby metro and really like it.
Two main ones—we like the vista for our neighborhood and a cheaper one for travel (mountain buggy nano or ergo metro plus that converts for newborns, trifolds, and can have a car seat balanced safely on top. I skipped the Doona since it only works for the first year or so. (We also got the uppababy g luxe as a third for our off the charts tall kiddo that didn’t fit in other strollers by the time he was 2 years old.)
Get ergobaby metro plus or similar and you have a daily driver and travel stroller in one. I’ve heard good things about bugaboo butterfly or uppababy minu. Unless you’re planning to use the under basket storage a lot (e.g. you are a one car family and will use it to walk and go grocery shopping, etc) then a travel stroller would probably suit you just fine. A lot of ppl don’t realize this I don’t think. P.s. the honest truth is that a lot of people will recommend expensive baby products not because they are actually great (although many are) but because they have to justify the cost to themselves. I see this a lot with car seats- people love to recommend expensive seats when more affordable ones fit better in their car, are less likely to be outgrown and are easier to install.
I have a Cruz with two winter babies (November and December). I will say it’s not the best for all snow- but can handle about 6 inches of snow max. Luckily I wasn’t forced to go out in these conditions too much with my baby. With my second there were instances I had to walk the older one to daycare in heavy snow with the baby and I just baby wore the younger one. The jolly jumper carrier cover is amazing for covering the carrier and can also be used on the stroller. If you go with the uppababy cruz o would recommend getting the heavy rain shield. It’s very robust and protects the fabric in rough conditions. I think eventually you will probably want a travel stroller for trips and as a backup. It also affords more trunk space (think driving to a weekend getaway with a few big bags). I have an ergobaby metro plus which I also love for this purpose and it fits in the overhead bin nicely.
Ergobaby metro has been great for us. We have used it on several trips- planes and trains, Europe, Vancouver, Montreal, Halifax, Florida, Mexico… it’s now out daily driver. Has a ride along board you can purchase which is GREAT for airports with two kids under 5. I don’t know what I’ll do when my oldest grows out of it, it’s so handy!
We have the Ergobaby Metro plus. Traveled with my baby in a 20 hour flight with a 2 hour layover. It was lightweight and comfortable enough for me to carry on my own with my 3 month old as my husband wasn’t travelling with us. Plus it has a complete recline feature for newborns. Also used it as a primary stroller during the same vacation and bub seems to enjoy it! Oh, also…overhead bin compatible!
