I have the maxi-cosi luxe and have been using for three months now. We use it all the time. The bassinet is fantastic for taking the little one out and about and having him sleep in it. The bucket car seat fits in my mid-size SUV and keeps him comfortable. The stroller seems to hold up well folding and putting in the trunk of my car.
In your budget the maxi cosi travel system all the way. I had it, loved it. It’s not too heavy, comes with absolutely everything you need. Car seat and the regular seat can convert from bassinet to upright. It’s awesome. Sometimes you can find the whole system in target at a very hefty discount.
I have the Maxi Cosi travel system and a compact SUV - Mitsubishi RVR and agree with this. It fits well in the back, but the passenger seat needs to be moved up extremely closely to the dash. It doesn’t fit in the middle well because then both seats need be adjusted the same. I do like it overall though, I saw many reviews about the wheels being bad but it’s worked nicely for us (only been using it 3 weeks so far) for casual walks. I don’t find the car seat too heavy, but to be fair I didn’t test a lot.
We got the Maxi Cosi travel system!! Comes with an infant car seat that can click into the stroller base, and has a seat that can be a bassinet or a regular seat for a toddler. Can be switched to face forward or backward too. 10/10 and stylish for the price!
We wanted the maxi cosi, but the infant car seat is extremely massive (heavy and spacious). There was no way I could seat in our VUS as a passenger with this infant car seat. The seat itself was heavy without a 10 pounds baby. Because of that we opted for another brand (baby jogger) !
I live in a large city with extensive public transportation but also have a car that I use relatively frequently, so a travel system was key for us. I found a MaxiCosi travel system on super sale with some cash back options so purchased it for verrrrry cheap. If I lived in the suburbs and didn't need a hearty stroller for days out on the town, walking/on subways/buses, I might regret the purchase as it folds quite large and takes up basically the entire trunk of my station wagon. But it does suit my needs very well, and when we make car trips we just take the size into consideration as we pack up to go. Personally, I wanted one new so that I wouldn't have to clean all the textile components before use.
Some do lose their sturdiness a bit - I bought a new travel system (a Maxi-cosi, I love it - but it’s huge and heavy) and then recently bought a used Baby Jogger City Mini GT. Now that baby is 10+ months I’m feeling much less fussy about used stuff, and I wanted a stroller that would grow more easily with a toddler than my MC. I get that some people don’t like used stuff - I swore I wouldn’t accept handed down items when I was pregnant because it grossed me out too much - but I honestly do not care now, lol. I think this is def a YMMV type thing.
