"Plus I loved it bc I knew I would be able to use it into her older toddler years and then add in a second seat for a second kid (so I wouldn’t have to buy another stroller in a year or two)."

"If you’re planning on having more kids it’s nice with the ability to add a second seat or have one bassinet and one toddler seat at once."

"It's so great that it can be used equally well as a single or a double (great planning for siblings in the future!)"

r/BabyBumpsstroller + car seat recs? esp. Nuna or Doona - FTM feeling overwhelmed
8 months ago

Like someone else said, if you want something that lasts until toddler age, it will be a convertible seat not an infant seat. I’m not a fan of infant seats so we’re going straight to a convertible and getting a stroller with a bassinet mode. Nuna is great, just pricy. I am a big fan but do agree with the other commenter that I need two hands to collapse. The mockingbird is also pretty nice - plenty configurations and compatible with a lot of car seats. I can fold it with one hand and i think it pushes well. If you’re planning on having more kids it’s nice with the ability to add a second seat or have one bassinet and one toddler seat at once.

So, a couple things— First of all, a single stroller plus baby wearing may be easier sometimes. I’d recommend both the stroller and the baby wearing device be doable for either the newborn or the toddler because you might want the option to do either version. For a double, I’m going to offer a counterpoint. A lot of people are complaining about tandem but we use ours for something pretty specific which is neighborhood walks including walking to daycare. We are always on sidewalks and you have to pay attention to bumps or whatever but I think that’s true of a lot of options. My wife almost accidentally tipped our wagon yesterday going around a bend so other styles aren’t a guarantee of not-tippiness. Anyway, I think the advantage to tandem is that they convert between two and one seat, right? I haven’t seen a side by side model that does that. So we like our Mockingbird and the fact you can rearrange the seats however you want— we currently like doing tandem with the kids facing each other, toddler facing forward at the top so he can see baby and the view, and baby facing backwards in the lower position so she can see both mom and brother. Meanwhile it’s very fast to switch into a single stroller if we only have one kid or are wearing one kid. My main quibble is that it is a little bulky as a double stroller in terms of folding, we really have to take everything apart to fit it in the Prius trunk. The main thing that’s annoying is that we have to take off the plastic pieces converting it to a double, but we don’t have an obvious place to store them while keeping them attached to the stroller which would be my preference. It’s not an issue with our SUV trunk though.

r/parentsofmultiplesBest stroller for twins, specifically ones that you can click infant car seats into?

I’m loving my Mockingbird! We use the car seat adapters right now (twins are 3 months) to click in our Chicco KeyFit 35 seats, but they are compatible with a ton of different car seats.

I have twins so my options were limited, but we got a Mockingbird. I love it but that thing is HEAVY and it barely fits in my RAV4 trunk. If I had to do this again, I would lift/move the folded up stroller to really test it.

Have you checked the mockingbird single to double? I'm currently pregnant with my 2nd and age difference will be similar to yours. After doing some research I thought that one was the best choice for double seating for us. Can be pricey though. Another option could be a wagon, but they may not be as comfortable as you'd like for the 1 year old.

Oh that's a shame. We got ours already so we'll see how it feels for us once the baby is here. We do have a wagon already so that's good to know that it's a good option for replacement

Wow! I'm impressed with all of the research. Since you mentioned the vista, I would actually suggest the mockingbird. We love the versatility of the seat arrangements as a double and both seats recline for naps while walking around the park or afterwards. Sounds like an awesome trip!!

I have a 6 week old and nearly 3 year old and we enjoy our mockingbird, it’s a little unwieldy but not terribly. Currently we use it with a bassinet and 2nd seat and also the ride along scooter thing which my toddler prefers to the seat usually

Love ours. We also had a mockingbird from the start but barely used it until LO was over a year old. This was just so convenient and lightweight. We never tried to take it like over grass or uneven surfaces though

r/parentsofmultiplesTwin parents, what stroller setup worked best for you in the first year?

Double stroller! Went with the mockingbird single to double. Initially did the snap in for the car seats and then later used the bucket seats. My twins are 2 now and our stroller still gets a ton of use because when I do errands with them they still aren’t old enough to not run off in a store and I can’t hold both their hands and do the shopping.

r/BabyBumpsChoosing the best stroller, what do you wish you'd known earlier?

See I have the opposite thought. I hate my mockingbird and wish I just got a single stroller with my first and then a side by side when we had our second. We got the bumbleride indie twin with my second and love it SO much that we never use our mockingbird double. About to have 3 under 3.5 this week and still don’t use the mockingbird, it’s awful as a double, imo!

We did the graco bucket seat and stroller that it clicked into, but ended up switching to a convertible seat pretty quickly because my daughter had bad reflux. I found a mockingbird on marketplace and we love it!! We’ll be getting the car seat adapter for our second baby coming in February. Also, a lot of car seats go on sale on Black Friday, so if you know which one you want, that might be a good time to buy. We saved around $100 on ours.

I got a mockingbird single to double for my first off of marketplace. We’re now expecting our second and it’s nice to already have the stroller down. You can get a car seat adapter for it so that your car seat will click in. The first owner used it until her kids were 4 and 6, and it still looks almost new.

r/BabyBumpsTell me what freaking diaper bag, car seat and stroller to buy. My brain is melting.

You don’t need a diaper bag specifically. I use my favorite tote. I have the mockingbird Convirtible stroller that can turn into a two-seater with a toddler standing platform. It’s very lightweight and easy to open one handed. We got the Chicco Keyfit 35 ClearTex for infant car seat, and got the adapter for the stroller. It was easy to take in and out of the car seat now that my baby is a toddler, we have the Greico Extend2Fit 3-in-1 and it’s going to last us a very long time.
