"I got the stokke stroller because it looked cool haha and then used it like ten times and only used our doona. I wouldn’t buy a fancy expensive stroller again!"
Yes there are car seat adapters for the YOYO - maybe not for all car seats
FTM and I just got a convertible car seat (Graco 4 in 1) and travel stroller (yoyo3) with newborn and standard packs. Works for me. I don't mind unclipping baby to put him in the stroller or a carrier for errands.
Yoyo3! Fits in overhead baggage bins in plane. I don't fly but use it as my daily stroller. I like it as it's convenient for running errands since it folds so small. My friend does fly with hers and she said she's never had to check it and it even fit going down airplane aisles.
Mine is still in the newborn pack buy my friend's son has done well in it and they still use it at 18 months.
Having just purchased a travel stroller, we looked at the stokke yoyo, bugaboo butterfly, uppababy minu v3, silvercross jet 5, and joolz aer -- all comply with most overhead cabin sizing. I would recommend also purchasing the stroller case/carrier so it looks more like a standard carry-on. Some airline staff might make you gate-check regardless of size once they see that it is a stroller. Having the cover/case will reduce that issue.
I have the yoyo which is compatible with the nuna pipa car seat, this is the combination we use both for travel and day to day use since it’s so light and comfortable!
Any double stroller is really too big. Besides the size when using it, you also have to have space for it in your room. For two kids I would use two really cheap umbrella strollers. We just have one child, but we are taking her on her first cruise in December. We are taking the Stokke Yoyo. It folds up small enough to fit in an overhead bin and comes with a carrying strap. We also have the GB Pockit+ but it takes two hands to push so I think the Yoyo will be better.
Okay so the nuna ecosystem is a good one. My wife and I love our Mixx Next, and its been great now as we're about to enter year 2. Bugaboo is another good quality brand, but I believe the kangaroo is a new product. It may be difficult finding lots of reviews on it. Honestly it reminds me of the Uppababy Vista (another very popular stroller). The main things i HATE about this type of double stroller design, is how bulky the frame is in order to accommodatethe 2 seats single file that way..my guess is the Kangaroo would likely be the same as the Uppababy in "bulkiness" due to its design. So when it comes to actually using a double stroller, id personally always pick the Donkey. Yes its wide, but its not trying to be a slim/single file stroller. Its exacrly what it is. A functional double side by side stroller than can be converted to a single stroller for easy use, and its not as bulky when in single mode. However...a lot of people tend to over do the stroller selection because they "plan" for the 2nd baby before the 1st one is even here lmao (I know because ive done this). You try telling yourself the price is worth ir because you MIGHT have a 2nd or 3rd child...but...you also might not lol There are so many reasons and different scenarios that may/may not happen over the course of that 1st or 2nd yr of caring for your current baby. Perhaps you "plan" for a 2nd baby, but let's just say it doesnt happen because your having a harder time getting pregnant this next time around..or perhaps you find that 1 baby is enough as it is, and maybe you find its wiser to let baby grow a good 2 or 3 years before "trying" for another. Suddenly your pregnant, its 4 or 5 years later, your 1st child's walking in their own, or perhaps they simply want to walk with you and never want to sit 🤣 and your 2nd is a infant and the only one in the stroller...why not just stick with the single stroller with all the nice features? Lol basically im of the mind that planning your whole set up around a "ghost baby" (for lack of a better term) that may not come...or come too late, thag it may not be the wisest decision. Now all that aside, its going to come down to your preference. Nuna sells an adapter than can be used for many different stroller brands, such as Uppababy, Silvercross, and even Bugaboo (i think). So my top single to double stroller would be the Donkey. My top 4 full size single strollers would be the Silvercross Reef, Uppababy Cruz, and Nuna mixx Next, and maybe the Bugaboo Fox 5. For travel strollers id say Joolz Aer+, the Babyzen Yoyo3, uppababy Minu v3, and Bugaboo Butterfly.
Doona is soo overrated, dont bother. That thing is just an infant carseat on flimsy wheels and short handle. Its a little convenient, but after 6-12 months (usually before 12), it becomes 100% obsolete, and you still have to go buy a new convertible carseat, AND an actual stroller. The doona money is just evaporated into nothingness and is essentially wasted. Ive gone deep into the rabbit hole of budget mid tier, to high end travel systems, and ended up choosing a high end quality one that can last a long time. Top brands consist of Silvercross, Uppababy, Nuna, Bugaboo, and even Cybex. 1st is the selection of single strollers with all bells and whistles. Heres my top selections. You can go into a research binge into each one to really sort out the minor differences. Nuna mixx next, Uppababy Cruz, Bugaboo Fox5, and Silvercross Reef2. 2nd is single to double strollers..these usually have a bulky frame but many people like these so they can adapt to having 2 different aged children on the stroller, and can be useful for twins too. Uppababy Vista v3, Nuna Demi next, Silvercross Wave3, Bugaboo Donkey 3rd and lastly is the category for very lightweight and easy/small folding which can be used for traveling..the travel stroller. Joolz aer+, Bugaboo Butterfly, uppababy minu3, the babyzen Yoyo3, silvercross Jet5.
We lived in a 750 sq ft third floor walk up when we had our first so we got a travel stroller as our primary stroller. Lightweight, easy to fold solo, and small footprint were my must haves. After doing all the research we went with the Stokke Yoyo (formerly called babyzen) and have been so happy with it that even when we bought a house with storage we kept using it! It’s easy to use and has great attachment options (bassinet, car seat adapters, toddler stroller board, and more). It also fits in overhead compartments and handles sidewalks and streets very well.
I got the stokke stroller because it looked cool haha and then used it like ten times and only used our doona. I wouldn’t buy a fancy expensive stroller again!
We spent £400 on a Stokke Babyzen Yoyo around 4-5 years ago and have flown with it as carry-on multiple times. It has stood the test of time and now that our youngest is reaching the stage of rarely using a pram we will be parting with it but it’s in great shape. The only visible blemish might be parts of the handle have begun to wear away - nothing excessive, and certainly nothing functional. It’s obviously expensive but it has served us really well for the price and has been our main pram/pushchair - we even stopped using our iCandy in favour of it [Amazon (Images show it fits in overhead locker)](https://amzn.eu/d/h1gLjfr) EDIT: Forgot to say, with it being a premium brand there are lots of accessories including umbrellas for shade
I am very happy with our Yoyo3, but the Joolz Aer+ or Aer2 seem great and have a better fold. I love the compactness of the Yoyo and ease of carrying it. I don’t mind the fold, but it’s a lot clunkier than some others. The Butterfly 2 is a beautiful stroller but was too heavy/bulky by comparison. The Yoyo basket is a bit awkward to stuff things in, but the extra pockets in the back of the seat are so great and more useable than some other brands’.
