Hey y'all. I recently bought two monitors from Costco: LG 34SR65QC-B 34" 100Hz Curved Ultrawide WQHD MyView Smart Monitor (3440 x 1440) 5ms resp [https://www.costco.com/lg-34-curved-ultrawide-wqhd-myview-smart-monitor---3440-x-1440.product.4000287892.html](https://www.costco.com/lg-34-curved-ultrawide-wqhd-myview-smart-monitor---3440-x-1440.product.4000287892.html) Acer EDA343CUR Nitro 34" 165Hz Curved Ultrawide UWQHD Gaming Monitor (3440 x 1440) 1ms resp [https://www.costco.com/acer-nitro-34-class-uwqhd-curved-gaming-monitor.product.4000157379.html](https://www.costco.com/acer-nitro-34-class-uwqhd-curved-gaming-monitor.product.4000157379.html) Bought from Costco for their return policy since I just moved and wanted to try an ultrawide for the first time. Coming from two IPS 60hz monitors btw, not a competitive player so high refresh rate and low response time are extras for me I got the LG monitor a few months back and doing some research, it seems to be a new model. Has a TON of bells and whistles that I don't care for (built-in wifi, Airplay, Netflix, D+, comes with a remote, etc.) but this also my first VA and ultrawide panel so took it at face value. Has a ton of display settings making it super customizable, display looks amazing. biggest difference I noticed from my IPS was the viewing angle. with the curve and different panel type, there is some slight color distortion at the edges to the point where I rub my eye thinking I have something inside it... but its just the panel lmao. I'll come back to this. With the 90 day return policy coming up, I saw Costco was doing a sale on the Acer 165hz ultrawide. Figured it's cheaper and if I like the new one, I can return the LG. few days goes by, Acer arrives, and I set it up. Instantly the first thing I notice is the panel quality. at first, I thought it I needed to play with the settings like I did with the LG but after a week of use, I still find myself changing the display settings. the panel looks super washed out compared to the LG, the smearing is atrocious, and the settings panel (specifically, the 6-axis saturation section) never seems to save my settings. upsides are definitely the higher refresh rate, more gaming settings (refresh rate counter, crosshair, FreeSync) and the RGB strip on the back. putting the monitors side by side and playing some games, the LG monitor instantly has a more enjoyable gaming experience and day-to-day use browsing through Reddit or Discord in dark mode with virtually no smearing compared to the Acer. I would even go as far to say that it is comparable to my IPS panel in terms of color, but with much better contrast. happy to answer questions for anyone thats curious on picking these up. In general, what spec makes the LG display look "better" than the Acer in terms of color? the LG has a white balance option separate from contrast which I find myself using a lot, but obviously "good" is relative so maybe y'all can help. do VA panels usually look washed out?
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Comparing Two VA Ultrawides from Costco ->I am in the exact same boat!!! I bought the acer in July for $170 from Costco, but got the LG recently for $270 from my local warehouse. I agree with you that the colors are a little washed on the acer. But honestly I’m not sure the price delta justifies it honestly. Where’s your head at regarding the decision?
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Comparing Two VA Ultrawides from Costco ->Acer was much better stats and enjoyable for gaming. I’ve owned a LG one before and it’s p sensitive (light tap made it break) Acer was a crazy cheap deal also! In house warehouse
